Use Epic Store at your own peril. Me, never going to use it. If a game I want goes there, I can forget about the dev and the game. I must be weird or something, I have only ever used GOG, Origin or Uplay to play the games those companies publish with the exception of Skyrim which I played via Steam. Not sure why I'd jump into a new platform and especially not after hearing this rubbish.

Epic have shot themselves in both feet with a double barreled shotgun. They must think people are dense and I'm sure Valve could take them to court or at the very least threaten them with legal action. I had to smile at Yong's dig at Anthem, sadly he's not wrong. Sadly I have to admit I had a bit of a chuckle re The Anthem statement as well!!!!

Take the recent Metro game for example. The sudden shift to EGS at the last minute. Since sales were good, that meant fans were not willing to wait the one year for the title to shift to Steam and signed up to EGS. If I were younger, very very much younger, uninformed, I would probably jump on the wagon as well because desire over rides good sense.

His delivery isn't like Yong who presented the facts in a grounded manner. He's shooting a barrage and hard hitting.

Until I heard division 2 was epic exclusive I didn't even know the epic store existed, did some research and said for now fuck no. too bad for Metro, I'd have bought the game if it showed up on Steam. Honestly 2 stores is more than I want. If I logged into my computer knowing what I wanted to play it probably wouldn't matter. Log in open the store that the game I want to play is on and play. But usually I don't know and I'm browsing through my lists and multiple stores make that a pain in the ass. I sure as hell didn't need a 3rd or 4th. I don't play games like diablo 3 because I just forget to open the window.

I have Steam, Origin and Uplay. I play GOG games without the launcher. That's about all the stupid launchers I ever need...
I too keep forgetting about games I still haven't played on Origin/Uplay because I never log in. Every time I have to go and check what my password was... ugh.
One day, Unravel, one day I will remember to play you...

Also I had the password nightmare yesterday with BSN on my phone. It logs in automatically normally but not last night and even though I know the password it wasn't having a bar of it!!!! Went to my PC logged straight in.

Well, here we go again. Devs keep saying; no, we will not be putting our product on EGS. Months later, they change their minds. Can't resist the offered $$$$$$$$ I suppose. I'm wondering how many will buy this game. Ubisoft going to throw more titles in EGS? The next AC title better be in Uplay. P.S. I hope Cyberpunk not get snared by EGS. The devs are independent, not like Obsidian. I first saw the tweet mentioned 12 hours ago in Cohh's stream but the tweet was taken off quickly so it was thought to be a troll post but as it turned out, it's true. And Cohh, behaving typically as usual, take the fence. "I'm in the middle," he said.

And once I wait that long I might be in a fuck them mood and wait until its $5 or something.

From what I gather Obsidian themselves had no say in this, same as the Metro developers. Which kind of sucks because angry fans address their hate at the wrong people and devalue the hard work of the developers.
While I cannot blame a company for striking a more favorable deal, the Epic Store is ALL about their own ambitions and data mining the shit out of consumers. And unfortunately, as a consumer, I too look out for my own interests. And this exclusives war stinks. Bribing people to use your store, advertizing it as being pro developer is very disingenuous. But apparently their propaganda is working. Lots of people have come to hate Steam for some reason I don't quite understand and think they're being rebels now supporting a noble cause, lol. Right. They want to replace the Steam dominance with their own. Wow, that's so much better...
Let *me* decide where to buy games. Let consumers vote instead of forcing their behavior. If you want to be pro-developer and pro-consumer, offer people to pay extra for a game they consider worth it. Like Bandcamp does for music. They charge a base price but you can pay as much as you like on top. I have paid a bit more in the past for music that was super cheap.
Thronebreaker is on Steam and GOG. I haven't bought it yet but when I do I'll do it on GOG because it doesn't even force their Galaxy client on you and I want to support that platform, especially after the unerwhelming sales and apparent trouble they're in now resulting in layoffs. I bought Witcher 3 for Steam out of habit and convenience. But hey, I love that it's MY choice where I buy games and why.

I added a P.S. I know Obsidian have no say and no control over their product. I bought Thronebreaker from GOG as I want to support them. I have several games I bought from them though Steam has the most number. Saw another YT on this too but there's a showcase of the EG CEO (I think) who said that it's the devs (really?) who dictate where the games go, not the consumers. Consumers have no say. True but consumers can have their say with their wallets!

Obsidian Gryphon Indeed I can still decide just not to buy then. I'm not five anymore, I don't need to have all the shiny new things right now. I'm not buying from Epic and I'm not buying from the Microsoft Store. So they're shit out of luck right now. I want to support The Outer Worlds so bad but not like this. Sorry, Obsidian. I bet the game is awesome. Got plenty of other things to do. I can wait. Or not buy. Hell, I could probably PIRATE the game if the game doesn't go to Steam or GOG eventually. I refuse this fake hostage situation.

Yeah, I'm seeing several statements on the third option in YT comments. One fellow said; oh, the game is "delayed" by a year. Same sentiments here. There're other things to do / enjoy in rl. Games aren't the only avenue of entertainment. There're books and so on. I rather spend on books.

I heard about Ninja being the most popular streamer but he keeps to one genre; BR. And he's well know for playing Fornite constantly. I've no interest in that or BR. I caught glimpses of Apex Legends but didn't watch hours of it because it's just another BR. I didn't see anything special, it's just another BR. Just as well I stick with Cohh who plays a variety of games of different genres.

They're painting themselves so "white" and "angelic" and say nothing of their secretive lifting of user data without their knowledge. But Yong is right in that Steam needs to clean up their shelves. Metro Exodus is only one example, we'll have to see if other publishers would get their happy pie as they think they would via EGS as time goes by. Wishful thinking that the majority of consumers would protest. A percentage is composed of young gamers who's only looking to satiate their desire in gaming, they don't care about anything else. Some gamers are fans who want to get their fav game at all costs. Some don't give a fig, they just want the game to play in their leisure time. The rest would be the ones who observe and analyse the situation.

"We're not in the porn business here." Just what I want from my digital store front: virtue signaling.
I have a feeling this is a short term blitzkrieg on Steam and GOG, and not a sustainable solution for Epic. Wait till that battle royale money fizzles out.
