I haven't used this mod, but it appears to shorten the trek through the Deep Roads and you get taken to Branka and the broodmother: www.nexusmods.com/dragonage/mods/4560/?I hated the Deep Roads in DAO, but I quite liked the Descent. Mhmm, I use that and Skip the Fade. *flees*

The Deep Roads and the Fade are the two areas, I dislike the most. They both come, after one spends a very long time with one questline already and the Deep Roads are boring until you come to the broodmother level - that whole level with Hespith and her creepy poem until meeting the broodmother is very well done and extremly creepy. The rest is just meh - the spider queen, the endless deepstalkers, those dwarven ghosts... not much fun there. Ruck's fate is heartbreaking, but I don't care about the rest. The Fade I liked quite well in my first ten or so playthroughs, but since I normally do the circle first, more of my characters, than I cared about, entered the Fade and after a while, I got bored with it. I knew the riddles and secret shortcuts, how to get all the attributes points etc. And when you start doing the Fade without thinking about it, it gets boring. You can bring different companions to learn their secret fears and hopes, but after a while, you ran out of companions. So in short: the Deep Roads are mostly just boring (apart from the broodmother level, which never will be not creepy for me) and the Fade has used it's charms up on me. So I do use skipping/shortening mods for both nowadays too.

I enjoyed both the deep roads and the fade. So I guess I am in the ultimate minority. However, when I played DAO there were lots of walkthroughs published, and it was not before long that I memorized my way around the fade. I really did not use walkthroughs for the deep roads, but listened to the prevailing opinion that it be left until the end. For nearly all my playthroughs I do Tower of Magi, then Redcliffe/Ashes, then Brecelian forest, then Orzammar. It also works from an RP perspective - if I am dwarven noble I am in no hurry to return with all that baggage, and if I am a casteless I have a lot of self doubt and not quite sure yet how to be a warden - so no hurry to return to Orzammar either.

I always thought it a shame that, after the Fade, you can discuss the benefits of being a golem with Shale. Even if you take Shale with you, nothing. In fact, nobody says anything. Oh well.
I usually do the Broken Circle first of the major quests. By that I mean complete. I may go to the Brecelian Forest and Orzammar long enough to set up my supply chains first, and make sure I have some long-range abilities. I don't mind the Fade. And sometimes I try out different builds. I also like my brief stint at shapeshifting. I admit it is a bit of a slog. It is the only one of the major quests you can't break into smaller chunks.
I'm fine with the Deep Roads, too. After the first couple of times I usually don't do it in one long trek, though. I'll do a section, go back to Orz., change my party around, maybe even go do a small sidequest somewhere. I usually take Shale with me if I've recruited her. And Oghren. That's my little quirk, I like taking companions with me who might have a particular interest in the area: Shale and Oghren to the Deep Roads, Zevran to the Werewolves Lair, etc.

I don't mind the deep roads. Too bad it doesn't go deeper. haha. Get it? I don't either. I like the music. Get to meet Ruck. Decide what to do with the giant looking demon. What I do is leave Oghren at camp and take whoever until the game forces me to have him. At that point, I include Shale for the dialogue with the caridin golem.
Deep Roads I would say is my second favorite right behind the most excellent quest in all DA games.. The Fade. excellent

Well, I think the story remains good. But, the gameplay really falls apart. I must've spent like tens of hours just running there...
Triple-haste helps, though. A lot.

Actually, the Deep Roads were my favorite, Finally got to do what you were meant to, KILL SOME FREAKEN DARKSPAWN, instead running around like an idiot, solving political disagreements, that ultimately turned into kill the other faction, ugh.

I hated the Deep Roads starting in my 3rd PT, but not because of party arrangement. If you want to side Bhelen: Bhelen's 2nd: Hi Warden. Earn our trust with this small ish dungeon crawl to deliver a message. Me: Ok. Got it. Bhelen: Hi Warden. You earned my trust but it wasn't good enough. Earn me more favor with this medium ish dungeon crawl. Me: Ugh... really? Okay. On it. Bhelen: Hahaha thanks for handling that for me. I owed the bitch money. Now, what really needs to happen is you need to go through the longest Dungeon crawl of the game and get me a hat made by a special person who's likely dead. Me: .... ..... ..... ..... Can I say no? Do we really need the Dwarves? This is absurd narrative, next thing you'll do is tell me I'll need to go after mythological pile of ashes that is thought not to exist at all to save one man!
