This one's a little gross:
And if you ever wondered where the South Park music cue (and the voice of Cartman, in a different scene) came from:

More exceptions (it's starting to look like I may actually like musicals...)
Oh, these are probably NSFW (Trey Parker tends to be.)
Teehee, that last one is a bit thematically linked to me...

Some friends of mine asked me to play Danny in a rendition of Grease....yeah, but no.
I have only seen 1 musical in my entire life....it was The Rocky Horror Picture Show. ( the movie ) well, technically 2 since ^^^^^^^^^^ also ( the movie )

Yunno being a big fan of Southpark I should make it my business to check out some of Trey and Matt's movies. The only one I've seen is BASEketball and that was a few years back. Still have yet to check out the Book of Mormon. Heard it's hilarious. I'll break them down for you (but Book of Mormon is not a movie, at least not yet.) Alfred Packard: The Musical aka Cannibal: The MusicalThis is raw, but brilliant. You will recognize a huge number of the cast members, as they still work with and appear in Trey Parker/Matt Stone projects to this day. The movie contains the origin of the South Park music cue, the voice of Cartman (a singing horse off-screen) and Trey Parker's budding musical genius. While hilarious, the production has an amateur feel to it. That's because they made it out of university. It was distributed mainly because the president of Troma films saw it and that is was too funny to be missed. BaseketballObviously, you've seen this one. It's among their weakest, and earliest. While it has lots of great moments, it's sort of a short film stretched into a full-length one. The opening scene breaking down the "end of professional sports" is still one of the funniest things they ever did, tho'. OrgazmoThis is the other weaker early film of theirs. It also has a lot of great moments, but it depends very heavily on the premise of a mormon working in porn being funny enough in its own right to sustain the whole movie. Even so, it's hard to keep a straight face when Choda Boy is on screen. Worth watching, like Baseketball, but they have hit it out of the park a lot more consistently since they made these two. South Park: Bigger Longer and UncutThis is out of order, as this movie came out less than a year from Baseketball. But it has the polish of their later works, so I listed it after Orgazmo (which I believe was shot first, but languished without distribution for a few years - not sure.) This movie is a brilliant musical. That closing overture that I embedded above is an insanely complex and structured piece of music. Like it is supposed to, it interweaves all of the songs from the movie thus far, but the crossing performances, and the way they are overlayed upon each other is incredible. The whole thing builds from a soft opening to an insane crescendo in under two minutes, and it really showed the talent Trey Parker has when it comes to writing music. And then on top of that, it's a hilarious two hour episode of South Park, so the fact that you haven't seen it is criminal, for shame Crim! Team America: World PoliceThe one side of Parker/Stone I'm less a fan of is the gross-out humour, but even I'll admit that they took it to brilliant levels in this movie. Which is also a pretty brilliant skewering of early 21st century American politics. Particularly memorable are the scenes making fun of celebrities, and the closing inspirational speech, which manages to be crude, clever, and surprisingly on point, politically. I would recommend the original cut, rather than the extended cut (I didn't find the added footage improved it.)

I didn’t realize how many musicals I’ve seen live until wandering into this thread. My mom loves musicals so since she didn’t want to go on her own to see a show, she would always take me with her, and I have a feeling I will probably end up doing the same thing with my own daughter. I was in a few school and community theater productions when I was younger but never stuck with it. I’ve seen Phantom of the Opera, Les Miserables, Miss Saigon, Jesus Christ Superstar, Starlight Express (a musical about trains and their feelings…), Cats, The Book of Mormon, Wicked, My Fair Lady, South Pacific, Grease, West Side Story, Xanadu, The Producers, Tommy, The Music Man, Oliver and Rent. I feel like there might be a few that I’m missing. I’m mildly obsessed with the Hamilton soundtrack right now, but I think that will be another 20 years or so until seats open up and I get to see that live.

Grease watched this movie to death growing up. Love it. This is the second time in the space of half an hour I've had to re-quote this post from the Old Farts thread... Little known fact about me....Grease is probably my favourite and definitely my most watched movie of all time. I knew every line. The OST is also my favourite, and I still listen to it quite regularly.
