Heh yeah I saw that! Definitely funny but for some reason I could never really get into a Malkavian. No idea why!

Thanks guys! I'll look into the newest patch at some point then. Probably not for this playthrough but at some point in the future, maybe. Hell if I ever get bored I might even look into the different mods Well if you don't mind a more "combat heavy" playthrough, at least compared to vanilla, there's the Antitribu Mod. While it's not as polished as other mods out there, it does add new clans, disciplines, features, maps, quests, even a new ending (if I recall correctly). Also, unlike other mods, like the Final Nights, the new disciplines actually incorporate new mechanics rather than just being a re-skin of a vanilla ability. The Followers of Set can gain the ability to transform into a Cobra, complete with its own unique animations and attacks (no re-using protean war form assets there). Tzimice can fuse the flesh and bones of their victims to themselves to gain bonus armor and intimidation, as well as 'flesh craft' their own minions. The Giovani, Samedi, and Nagarja can call for hordes of the shambling dead/powerful spirits from Oblivion to attack their foes. And the Old Clan Tzimice even gets a fourth discipline they can level up and use alongside their other defaults. The companion mod has been incorporated into Antitribu as well, though with even more customization options to it. With a point in Dominate you can force hobos and prostitutes to become your willing slaves/bodyguards as soon as you set foot in Santa Monica. Later on you can recruit more powerful followers to your side, up to and including other kindred, and even a gargoyle. Visually, the change up to the various NPCs is a nice touch as well. No longer will you see the same four Sabat goons walking around the warehouse. There's also the addition of new weapons, and wearable armor pieces; like say some shoulder pads for increased soak to bashing damage. All that being said, the mod is a bit rough in some places. There are several quests, or iterations of some vanilla quests that have some new feature or mechanic you have to be aware of but that the game fails to mention to you. For instance, the Gallery Noir quest will now spawn an invulnerable boss that constantly drains your health until you deduce that you need to shoot the clay vases scattered around the room and weaken it. It's certainly not perfect, but if you're looking for a nice change up to the base clans, and brand new mechanics I would highly recommend this mod.

Thanks for the info! I wasn't aware of the details or anything really from the mods so it's definitely good to know about the changes. Well if I'm ever stuck on this kind of thing I know where to look for answers

Hm, I think I only ever beat the game with a ventrue. I wouldn't mind doing a run relying on seduction/persuasion more then firearms though. That'd be very interesting, I think.

This is the homepage for the unofficial Bloodlines patch, the basic version of which is already included by GOG. Any new versions of the patch will be uploaded here first. The patch installer will let you choose your game directory and which patch features you want to install (basic or plus).

The GOG version, has it built into the install already (yet another reason why GOG is more awesome).

GOG has the basic version, which contains bugfixes only and otherwise preserves the vanilla game experience. The patch installer linked above also allows you to install the "plus" version of the patch, with more restored content, additional user content to complete quests that only exist as rudimentary data, additional options for character generation and some changes to disciplines. EDIT: I agree that GOG is awesome for including the patch, it's the best way to play the game. A total killer feature would be the option to switch between basic and plus. Some changes from the plus patch I remember are a new ground floor for the Hallowbrook Hotel, and small things like the option to keep Heather alive without sending her away.

I know, I'm late, but I would recommend a Malkavian playthrough - it's the best. Plus sneaking around some of the Tzimisce ghouls in the sewer is a big bonus. The dialogues are just hilarious. Since I didn't like the female Malk model (you don't have to run around like a retarded slut - you are crazy, not braindead), I just swapped her model with the female Tremere - that dreamy look on the Tremere made the dialogues extra funny.
I have to try out the Antitribu mod - that female Tzimisce punk lookd great (I probably stil lwill end with Malkavian though)

I ended up putting it off indefinitely so I'm all ears... or eyes in this case. I like the Obfuscate of the Malk but I, personally, wish their madness was you know, serious and terrifying and less for humor purposes, if you know what I mean? And I love the look of the Tremere model too, she's very beautiful, my problem is that I don't really do mages. But still, thanks so much for the advice

And I love the look of the Tremere model too, she's very beautiful, my problem is that I don't really do mages. But still, thanks so much for the advice It's easy to swap models, you just have to make a copy of the file with the desired model and do some copy and pasting - for example in the Tremere/Malk case you can simply copy the names of the malk armor to the tremere and return it into the character file. You just have to look out, because while all characters are named something like tremere_female_armor 1, the first armor of the malk female is called malk_girl_... (something like that) The madness and insight of the Malkavians is not only used for fun purpose - you can have some really deep insights into some of the characters, I remember Jeanette/Therese (before THAT scene), Vivi, Gary and some others, which show a lot of tragic background stories. Vivi didn't like that and was very cross with my little Malkavian. And you can say some people the harsh truth without getting punished for it - LeCroix for example. He is not that happy about your comments, so withold them until you have the apartment in Downtown, but he keeps surprisingly calm. It has advantages, when everyone thinks, you're a harmless mad person. So basically, Malkavian offers a lot of desperate needed comical relief, but a lot of character and story insights too - you even can impress Beckett and if I remember correctly, you will know the true identity of the cab driver relatively soon in the game.

Overall I''d say Malkavian just for the crazy. Stop doing that. Mother shan't be too pleased. None too pleased.

Ah thanks for the tip . It still sounds a bit complicated to me (I rarely mod) but actually doable. Oh I'm not saying Malks don't have their great moments of insight, the whispers alone are fascinating to me. But they're just not for me really. Personally, I don't think the game is lacking in humor so I'm fine without this kind of comic relief. I also find that a lot of this looses some weight if you've already seen Malk dialogue, which I did so I'm going for something different. Oh and I'm pretty sure the Malk finds out about the cab driver at the very end but they are sure of his identity and are terrified of him.
