This is the thread to share a random factoid about yourself. I'll go first.
I realized I needed glasses when I was at a lake with a friend and I thought a beer bottle bobbing in the water was a duck in some sort of distress.

Not to get all personal and sad on you this quick into the thread, but the whole closure of BSN Prime got me thinking about it.
Back in 2012 when the Mass Effect 3 demo had just come out I was suffering from pretty severe depression, and that was the same time I started posting on BSN. One of the main reasons I got so into all the datamining was actually because of that, as it was a great way to keep my mind off of everything else going on at the time.
It ended up being a great decision to do that as I met a lot of great people and it was a huge help in me getting over the depression.
These days I'm a lot better and the odd day I feel like shit I usually go for walks or write. I'm actually currently working on a campaign for my first time GMing for my pen and paper group.

and for something less depressing: I was a linebacker for my high school football(aka handegg) team for like half a year until a kid from another school died and my mom freaked out, pulling me off the team.

I appreciate you sharing that, I think a lot of people have similar stories. I went on a gaming hiatus for about 3 years due to severe, crippling depression. Dragon Age was my return to gaming. At the time, I didn't know anyone else who played Dragon Age, and the BSN kept me from falling into isolation again. Though I lurked a lot, it became a part of my life. I'll miss it. Thank you for all your efforts in building us a new home. It means a lot to me.

I could read and write the futhark alphabet when I was a school kid (it's the same Tolkien uses on the map of the lonely mountain in The Hobbit). When a particular test at school completely stumped me, I wrote the entire thing in futhark. Needless to say, it didn't go over well.

I was groomed to be a tennis pro by my parents. Made it to the ATP Challenger Tour when I was a tween before finally convincing my folks that I didn't share their dream for me. I still play tennis regularly, but only for the fun of it.

When I was a little kid I use to collect bugs. I would go through neighbors' yards lifting up bricks/stones on the ground to see if anything interesting was hiding underneath. Cicadas were the most valued prize to me since they were big but hard to spot. If I happened to find one that I was able to grab, I would hurry with a jar and slap the little guy inside before a bird saw it.

Thank you for all your efforts in building us a new home. It means a lot to me. I've noticed it's a semi common thing among people online. I'll note that my policy is that if anybody ever wants to talk, my metaphorical door is always open. I actually kind of went more into gaming as a way of dealing with it before I found other ways that were more effective for me. Since you guys are being so open about these things I was diagnosed with depression and anxiety aged 14 hence the uh XIV... both are pretty crippling to me and both still rule my life a little... ... on a more positive note... My real name is Lauren, my favorite color is purple and my dream job is to be an author I'd love to be an author. I think a big part of that is the freedom of work hours, since one of the biggest things I hate is the 9 to 5 workweek.

I also suffer from anxiety issues and I sympathize with all who do. It can make even the most mundane task a freaking adventure and not the cool kind! Something random: The first crush I ever had was on Kirsten Dunst's character Claudia from Interview with the Vampire, when I was 8 years old.

How random does it have to be?
Because, for example, I collect decorative spoons from different cities.

I have a curly and stubborn beard that really defines my face. Especially since I shave/buzz my head.
I feel more confident with it then when I shaved awhile back.

Since I'm jumping on a few bandwagons today... something happened at the end of 2008 and I stopped gaming, writing and pretty much everything else except parenting. Depression, according to the doctor. Not severe, in his opinion but I did not willingly leave the house or did anything by myself for about a year and a half. I think I love DAO so much because that's what got me interested in things again. Well, not just interested but passionate. And emotional. Thank you, Cyonan, Nimlowyn and GeneralXIV for bringing this up. I just never can if not prompted. As for a random thing... I had a ten months pregnancy. I kept telling people that's how we half-elves do it.
