Can a dwarven noblewoman romance Unhardened Alistair, keep him a Warden and retain the romance? Or does he always break up with a non human pc by the end of the game?

You'll be able to continue relationship. Only king Alistair requires some checkpoints to continue relationship.

As I know, hardened Alistair can continue romance as King, even if he married with Anora.

As far as I can recall, any two of the following three can be true: -Unhardened Alistair can become king -King Alistair can maintain his romance with the Warden -King Alistair can marry Anora
If you want him to marry Anora, and still be his mistress, he has to be Hardened. But if he's single, you simply need to pass a Persuade check.

If you keep Alistair a Warden and kill Loghain at the Landsmeet, you can continue your romance whether he's hardened or not. I usually harden Alistair, it just makes him a little more self-confident (and able to continue your romance if you don't or can't marry). A romanced Grey Warden Alistair has a nice little speech about his love in DAI.

Okay, I am confused, you say that you harden him so he could continue romance if you can't marry him, but first you say that you just need to kill Loghain and keep him Warden to keep romancing?
I guess it's too late anyway, I set the DAK as Warden Alistair in romance/dead Warden, so fingers crossed I get some dialogue to reflect this in the Fade.

Aww. he remarked on the Warden he broke up with (the sulky: "she has a name" ) so I was hoping for a manful sigh or something. Well, he lives regardless. I dunno, that's one romance that I just never gotten right and it eats me, I tell ya, eats me!

Sorry, I realize I was thinking faster than I was typing. I meant you need to harden Alistair if you put him on the throne and want to continue the romance if you are anything but a human noble who will marry him. The speech I had with Warden Alistair was in Skyhold, not the Fade. Sorry for the confusion.
