The Far Cry series got more weird as it went on, I didn't like the post apocalyptic option they took as it just added to the weirdness. I think it's best that an AU would be best and oddly fitting for the franchise.
Replaying Far Cry Primal as I just find it so engaging. Certainly underrated as a series entry in my view.

Something similar happened to Star Wars Squadrons. Although it was just labeled Project Maverick at the time.

Oh Giancarlo Esposito is the villian? I liked him in The Mandalorian.

I’ve not played any Far Cry games - and have no idea if I’ll try this one - but generic sort of question; do people like, not like, are not bothered or “depends” on seeing video game characters modelled heavily on their voice actor? I note Death Stranding did this as well (which I also haven’t played). Did it/does it add anything to the experience? Detract? Or is it “this is just what the character looks like, get over it and move on”?

I don't like it, it ruins the immersion a little for me (especially if I know the actor)
Think back to ME and DA. Ashley's VA is a black woman, Dorian's is Asian, Morrigan's was what, 10 years older than the character? If you had the stipulation that they had to look the part, none would have been cast. So I think it stifles creativity.

It depends. I don't view games through the same lens as I do movies. Partly because it's uncommon to model characters after popular RL actors/actresses, and so when it does happen, it does skew how I view the game. I would certainly not buy a game because it had a celebrity likeness in it. If anything, I'm more leery of it because it can actually detract from my immersion in it.
At the same time, every once in a while it does "work" - the Illusive Man for example. But generally, the higher the fidelity, the more it skews the experience.

Glad to see Esposito is really testing the limits of his character range...
