What's worse, when the tram/bus smells strongly like urine or vomit? stale vomit or even humid, warm, fresh vomit is more likely to make ME want to vomit... so I'll take the burning smell of stale urine over vomit.

When I used to take the bus on my job years ago, there was a guy that would dress up as little red ridding hood and walk up and down the aisle. If he caught anyone looking at him, he would go up to the person hold up a bible and start ranting that they were going to burn in an eternal hell fire.
Another time on a bus and probably the worst for me, was when everyone was packed in like sardines and couldn't move. A fight broke out right in front of me while I was stuck and I got an elbow to the head.
This is a happier story. Taking the subway to and from civic center in LA can always be interesting. One time on my way back home a group of three men got on, looked around, set down a radio and started performing an acrobatics routine. They did little somersaults, splits, grabbed the polls and twirled on them like strippers etc. One of the guys actually came close to kicking another passenger in the head.
Good times.

Did you jump into the fight after that and start swinging?

I kind of feel like the people who run MTA (NYC's transportation system) should burn in hell. They sure get all their bonuses but the subway system is a disaster. Oh, and next year they're raising rates and cutting services.

Yesterday in London's East End, climate protestors prevent working class commuters from getting their train, boy did they pick the wrong station.....

The level of anger is probably because there a lot of those people on the platform struggling to get by on hourly paid zero hours contracts while they are being stopped from earning a living by relatively affluent people who can obviously afford not to go to work. The people on the platform don't have the luxury of taking the day off.
BTW, pointing out the glaring flaw in their protest, electric trains are one of the least environmentally damaging modes of transport, so stopping people using public transport is going to save the planet?, protesting one of the potential solutions, yeah real genius at work. Target the big boys, the global banks, corporations in the City of London financial district not ordinary working people trying to keep a roof over their heads in one of the most expensive cities to live in on the planet.
