Yes, please. Though only if BW can redeem Varric to his DA2 self, when he was ridiculously charming quick-witted fellow with a slight edge. DAI Varric? Oh dear lord... no... though I still did like him.
I think it would be quite amazing to keep putting him in the middle of all the chaos, every time, so that he could keep on writing the tales of all the DA protagonists (outside of DAO). It would be ridiculously tragicomic and I'm into that.

No thanks. Varric wasn't all that great in Inquisition, and again, I'd like the focus to be on new characters. He's kinda like Garrus in the sense Bioware pushes him as the PCs best bro. I like both so it never really bothered me but for people who don't like the characters I get the irritation. I would rather not see Varric again, he had his time, besides he should be too busy running Kirkwall, that dump.

I was worried about Varric returning in DAI. Thank goodness he had his original writer back too.
That said, I'd rather not tempt fate twice.

I'd love seeing him again. They used Leliana in three games, so why not Varric too. Better him, than a drunk cliche dwarf like Oghren. I'd love to see either Varric, Dagna or Scout Harding again. Sorry, Varric fan here (and proud of it )

If for whatever reason we find ourselves in Kirkwall, I wouldn't mind seeing him in the high seat, or in the Hanged Man still drinking with the low so that he doesn't forget them. Other than that it would be hard to justify. He's had his time. Now he can run kirkwall and give us a dwarf who's up for some lovin' I'm kinda hoping Harding wasn't a romance option in Inquisition because they were saving her for the next PC.

I really hope he isn't. I'm very tired of seeing the same faces in every game I want to see new characters. Varric, Leliana, Alistair/Loghain, Morrigan, Flemeth, Cullen... all of them should stay out of the following games imo.

Sorry but i have a different opinion. Cullen was in 3 games in the last as romance option. I had hoped Varric would be a romance option in DAI, but as it is i take him in DA4. If not i am a little bit sad. I want to romance him very much

Cullen was in 3 games in the last as romance option He only had a very small bit part in DAO and I was honestly surprised to see him turn up in Kirkwall, let alone as an advisor in DAI. However, that was not the same as Varric, who was a companion two full games running. Anders and Oghran only had one full game and one expansion that they covered. If they must have a carry over dwarf character, I'd rather have Harding. We had interaction with her throughout DAI but she was never a full companion, so there is room to explore a bit more with her character there. Plus she could be a valid romance option. Varric will never be that so long as he is devoted to Bianca. He has a proper job in Kirkwall now and rounded off his connection with the Inquisition nicely with his book he gave to Cassandra. We make get references to him and even letters with useful information and leads but I doubt we'll actually see him again.

I want to kick bianca out and give him a good girl he deserves. If not me than someone els. I don't want him to be together with Bianca. I thougt in DA2 a romance option for Hawke, in DAI a romance option for the Inquisitor, later a boyfriend for Cassandra (Teasing is a sign of affection.) But no.
And i don't want Oghran. Harding is good but a women.

Because I've heard he's like a cherry soaked in brandy: plump, juicy and full of intoxicating flavour. God, you'd think DAO was made 50 years ago, not 10. For better or for worse, you wouldn't be able to get away with dialogue like that anymore.

The Inquisitor's interactions with Varric had that "hanging out with a friend of a friend" energy.

God, you'd think DAO was made 50 years ago, not 10. For better or for worse, you wouldn't be able to get away with dialogue like that anymore I don't know, they might, but it one of the reasons that Oghran is my least favourite character in the whole series. He is such a cliché of a drunk, vulgar, dwarf, whose sexual innuendo is excruciatingly awful. When I got to DAA and saw him waving at me, my heart fell. Mind you, I never get the interactions between him and Sigrun because once she was recruited, I could leave him behind. I have to admit that Varric was such a refreshing change after that. In DA2 I did genuinely see him as a friend. The only odd thing was how Hawke was never invited to his Wicked Grace parties. Everyone one else seemed to be in on the fun, even my dog! You know your "friends" are trying to tell you something when they invite your dog to make up numbers instead of you. It is about the only thing that makes you feel he saw the Inquisitor as more of a friend than Hawke; you are invited to his Wicked Grace party! And he clearly didn't invite everyone because there was no Vivienne (although possibly she was and considered it beneath her), and no Solas, although he did try to interest him but Chuckles claims he wasn't much of a gambler anymore (something that Blackwall would definitely disagree with).

I don't think we'll see him again as a companion, but I can see him as a narrator/contact with the Inquisition/quest giver tho. Or just pure cameo as Leliana in DA2. An appearance while visiting Maevaris and Dorian, maybe. I'm sure we'll read some letters about him.

It wouldn't make sense to have Varric return again - they gave him his resolution in Trespasser, why undo that for very little gain? There's really not that much more to explore with the character.
Now, my current wishlist for possible returns:
Companions/Advisors Scout Harding - She's cute as a button and she'd be our first female dwarf companion. Calpernia - She's waaaay too interesting to be kept purely as an antagonist half the players never even experienced. Dorian - I'd love to see Dorian as an advisor character, not companion though (although not opposed to this either), he's too good to not use.
Cameos Fenris - I love the broody elf and would love to see him again, especially if he's leading a slave rebellion! Tallis - I'm not too fond of her character, but it would make sense to see her again. Shale - It would be interesting to see if she managed to become dwarf again after all.

No. If they're bringing back a dwarf, there's Sandal, Dagna or Valta. Any of them would be better than Varric and Harding.

You know your "friends" are trying to tell you something when they invite your dog to make up numbers instead of you. I figured it was because, depending on Hawke's personality, inviting them to the game would either result in Hawke winning everyone's money, Hawke going broke, or the tavern exploding. This makes me want to play DA2 again.

After Trespasser, there’s no good reason to drag Varric back into this. He’s supposed to be busy with Kirkwall, so I’d rather they just left that alone. However many recurring characters I feel should return really depends on who the PC of the next game is. I suspect the Inquisitor is very unlikely to be the PC again due to the physical impairment and how that might affect gameplay design, and I’m not keen on another former protagonist sequence where I have to remake another character in a CC menu like I did with Inquisition. It’s one of those clumsy things that really disrupted Inquisition for me, especially with how long I tend to take doing custom settings.

Their physical impairment doesn’t matter since Tevinter Nights established the existence of prosthetic limbs that don’t hinder a person from exploring and fighting. From what I understand, the character has a prosthetic leg. Creating a combat mechanic around this impairment is not something I deny as being possible, but this does curtail the number of options available to the player compared to previous Dragon Age games. Dual-wielding and two-handed weapon combat will simply not be there, unless the setting now includes robo-magic for finer manipulation of objects. Losing an entire limb in Dragon Age should matter. Not every injury can have some sort of fix that makes it so that the character might as well have not lost that limb at all, especially an entire hand.
