The question is whether or not BioWare can pull what they did years ago with their RPG: take an established formula, make a neat setting, beef up the production value, and put out a quality product. The few shared world games that are out right now sort of leave a similar gap. Neither Destiny nor The Division were especially compelling in the narrative department, and other than Bungie's stellar combat, they weren't all that amazing in the game design department either. It's unfortunate for BioWare that ridiculous production value has become an industry standard across most genres, so there's not so much innovation to be had there, but Anthem's in a genre that's not peaked yet. I, for one, prefer singleplayer experiences, and I've yet to see an MMO or Shared World game prove to me that those genres can provide an experience comparable to a well-paced singleplayer narrative. I'm inclined to think this is just a personal bias towards unique, solitary experiences, but I'm willing to be proved wrong. I'm waiting for someone to make this massive multiplayer stuff click. And Anthem could do that, assuming BioWare can indeed do what they did a decade or so ago. What they've shown is visually impressive, and unlike others, I'm inclined to believe that, as a Frostbite game, Anthem is unlikely to get significantly downgraded. EA has had a surprisingly good track record with that. The world is clearly structured in a way that Andromeda should have been. Unlike all the Andromeda pre-release stuff, there seems to be a genuinely explorable world here with some degree of character to it. In fact, given how similar the control schemes seemed, I'm beginning to think it may have been better not to release Andromeda at all, and had Montreal work on a more bankable Star Wars project (or, God forbid, a unique IP), but that's besides the point. The standard loot, quests, and XP are uninspiring, but that doesn't mean there isn't room for some neat twists. I've lost confidence in BioWare for their seemingly consistent downward trend, and they haven't really shown anything that would earn them the title: "Bob Dylan" of vidoegames. However, there seems to be potential here, and at the very least, a clean slate. The biggest red flag here is the same one we had with Andromeda: there's not been a clear and unique hook from the marketing quite yet, the thing that a lot of Sony's new IP do at their first showing. I don't even own a Playstation, but the first trailers for The Last of Us, Horizon: Zero Dawn, and Death Stranding had incredibly strong atmospheric cues that made me care about them regardless. It's being presented a lot like The Division was, but without the element of surprise (or the benefit of not being released before the disappointment that was The Division), and we get it, the game has multiplayer and loot. No one cares. Give us a hook. When MEA was first announced, I truly expected THAT to be the Destiny Clone we all knew would be coming. What little we know of Anthem so far, could easily have been a divergent Mass Effect game set in Andromeda. Maybe that was just to obvious a win-win, I really have no idea why they didn't just make MEAnthem

How do you make customer experiences fun and engaging? Please sell your secrets to germany Kromerican. A great place to start is not telling them what their politics, religion, or worldview is or should be. Not bleeding them dry via microtransactions and endless grind is also nice, or preying on any predilections to repetitive behavior for monetary gain. Also showing a world and its various situations and then letting the player navigate and 'solve' them without telling them how or why tends to create emergent gameplay on its own. Also not forcing them to log in every day to "COLLECT YOUR ANTHEM POINTS FOR PHAT GAMBLING DIVIDENDS" is probably preferable to avoid title fatigue and burnout. So you let your customer have an enjoyable experience and then let them decide if they want to further endorse your choice with more money solely based on if they want to do that I take.

I might like to mess with him sometimes, but being honest, Xaijin does know what hes talking about. Despite not having MP (yeah I know we got moved to another section on the forum ME2 was my favorite ME game...hell it's my favorite "Bioware" game as a whole. Since that game they have entered more and more soapbox status. DA: I was awful and completely destroyed any interest I had in that series right there. I couldn't even force myself to complete the game despite trying to force myself many times. I don't care what people want to do with their lives. Don't hurt someone and don't be obnoxious and you can do whatever the hell you want...just shut the fuck up about it and do you. Bioware makes video games. It seems they have forgotten that...or in the case of ME: A - Don't even try anymore. I do however recommend everyone support Trump...or at least claim that you do when on this site. It makes for a lot more entertaining experience.

Hmmm...this game was made by the folks that did the trilogy and it shows....sharp visuals and decent animations from the rigs. That flight animation looks a bit like how it was done when you was descending into the Sprawl in dead space 2, but i like the look of this.
I'm also glad this was in 3rd person....the few few moments of the vid had me worried. What i don't like is that this game is a multi-game player game right?....there is no single player campaign? I hope they create one down the line. That small scene that showed the rig going into the water while the other player went up top was nice touch too....it wasn't really nothing grand, but the animation and effect into the water with the bullet streams passing by was pretty slick.
This is looking more like what Andromeda should have been....nice visuals, and sweet real time weather effects and the animation of the rigs feel like they are hefty and move in a manner you'd expect with their weight. An experienced team makes a difference...now if they could have just made this a single player experience i'd be all over this....not really liking the dialogue tho....feels like they don't fear anything that's coming their way.
I like narratives that have characters worried about venturing into the unknown and struggling against impossible or difficult odds....these types of "happy go-lucky..or laugh in the face of danger/edgy dialogue) kinda saps the energy out of the narrative for me.....
In any case tho, i thought the game looked great....not feeling the always MP option tho...

This game is made by the main studio? The A team? Well this changes a lot. I mean, who the hell doesn't want more star kid and RGB? Forgive my cynicism, but nothing in the video showed anything revolutionary. Graphics were good, but you can pick up any true AAA game and get that these days. Nothing in the little game play they showed was inspiring. Saw a little Titan Fall, Fallout, Halo, and Destiny in the footage. It's hard for me to guess how well this game will do. Bioware's core fans picked up one or two (3 if you count ME3 SP) of their games recently and were underwhelmed. Who are they going to convince to buy this game? Destiny players? Trying to compete with Destiny and the Division isn't an inspiring goal.

Hey look ... this thread turned into a thread for people to whine about people who camplain about MEA. This observation stopped being witty as a way to deflect from your crying about 10 years ago. Actually it was never witty, but at least it was newer then. Normal stop paying attention to a game they dislike, nuts fixate on it and whine forever. Could you please quote my "crying", please just one sentence. Calling other people "nuts" is not exactly a great argument, in fact it shows the lack of it. I was just showing a mirror to you, if you don't like what you see blame yourself.

-(_ANTHEM_)-
Stealing from Peter to pay Paul is never a good idea.
MEA was put on the sacrificial altar to please Anthem. Unfortunately for Bio/EA this game failed to stir any emotions from me. Plus, who believes anything Bio says, after DA:I and proven with ME:A?... Blind believers are the exception.
