TL;DR: I hope the player is one of many Freelancers, instead of the 'chosen one'
In singleplayer games the player is often very special. Especially in RPG's. Something magical happened to you and all of a sudden you are the 'chosen one'. No one else can save the world or even universe, except for you.
That's fine. But in a shared universe, I rather be just one of many out there. Not because I don't like being special (come on, I'm a millennial), but because it's more immersive in my opinion.
I remember looking forward to The Elder Scrolls Online, just being one of many inhabitants of Tamriel. Doing whatever I feel like. But five minutes in the beta a spirit came to me, telling me I was the chosen one, I had to save the world. At the same time I knew everyone else walking around in that game were also the chosen one.
If Anthem also has a story line in which the player is more special than other Freelancers, I'll have the same feeling while flying around doing quests with other. They to are the chosen one, just like me. I rather be one of many Freelancers and the game acknowledging that in the story.
I still like to be presented with choices and dialogue options to flesh out my character, but nothing too legendary.

I have a feeling that the "Freelancers" are gonna be alot like the "Spectres" from Mass Effect. Or the "Grey Wardens," kind of a thing. You're ONE of the special chosen ones, but not the ONLY one. At least, that's what I'm hoping for... Bioware almost always does the "OMG, you are the only one in the entire world who can save us" gimmick, so... we'll see?
Either way, I'm cautiously optimistic. Gameplay looks solid. I just need more information... Specifically story and lore-based information.

I mean, the story will probably be about your freelancer having some big role that will ignore the presence of other players. But they don't necessarily have to have anything innately special about them or be a chosen one cliche.
Destiny did something similar, you are one of many Guardians, you just happened to be the one that got caught up in the story events.

It's gonna work like Destiny where in campaign you are just the Freelancer in the right place at the right time
That said
What is wrong with being the chosen one
