Geez, I sleep for one night, and Pembrooke Hospital drops from Santized to Stable as SEVEN people get sick!
Whitechapel improves slightly, but I don't think will ever climb above Serious.
Charolotte is a bit of a troll.
REid's mother is either completely around the bend crazy or knows on some level about vampires and that Jonathan is one. Or maybe both...

Serious is perfectly fine. Don't worry about it!
Some of the illness waves are definitely scripted regardless of your actions.

Obsidian Gryphon That scene is in every ending but plays out differently depending on your choices. It's not about the destination, it's about the journey, as they say. No, really, the story is nicely told and discovering how everything is connected is rewarding. I like the story better than LiS but maybe that's because teenage drama is waaaay in the past for me and not something I personally experienced. However, I would say most people find LiS more emotional because of the bond between Max and Chloe that I found very relatable (I've known my best friend since we were two years old, over 30 years ago). Reid and Lady Ashbury isn't quite that tragic and heart-breaking. Vampyr has the better plotting and less obvious villain. The villain in LiS was painfully easy to guess. Things are way more nuanced in Vampyr. It could have been such a nice game without all these gameplay issues. *sigh* I watched the entire cutscene movie on YT. I was going, um ok; where Reid and Elizabeth are concerned. I don't mind they connected but it's too fast; could have more intricate steps before reaching that point where they connect empathically with each other. I when Reid threw out a slew of well known names; are they all VAMPIRES?!! The story's not bad but boy, once again, I wish gameplay is fun. I wish it could be like the Dishonored games. I love the steampunk series to death. I played it so many times I'm never tired of it, because combat and gameworld interaction is so fun / innovative to play around with; it's never the same with each replay, depending on your choices and how you customised the difficulty. I think this is the second game I've seen in all my years of gaming that lets the player tweak A.I. behaviour. Like the MET, this is one game title that will always stay installed. I've to admit moving in shadows is always fun, stalking silently, see and hear the panic if Emily is seen ... the death ... a surge of pleasure and ruin.

Well I had to have gotten the worst ending. Elizabeth kills herself. Up in flames. Reid carries on as a conventional vampire, basically killing people at will. Still not clear to me just what the final villain really is tbh. An elemental force? Anyway, I really enjoyed the narrative and choice and consequence. Game doesn't pull its punches.

This game would have been just fine even without the clunky combat. The atmosphere, characters and story are what kept me going.
At a certain point the frequent combat encounters almost made me stop playing because it got annoying. The solution however was simple - I gave myself unlimited ammo with a CE table and to be honest the combat actually became fun. There is something hilarious about just freely blasting stuff with Milton's shotgun whenever you get bored with the hack and slash. I managed to bring down 4 skalls with 2 shots. The combat encounters suddenly got better since I get to decide if I want to fight or just finish them in 3 seconds.
And yeah, I know I can run away. That works in the early chapters and the hunters comments when you outrun them are hilarious. After the midgame however the skalls and hunters get more in numbers and map density and I swear they seem to run faster and chase you longer. On several occasions I think I had about 15+ enemies on my tale. And it seems like a 50/50 chance if they will fight each other and stop the chase or they will try their best joint effort to drop you first and then duke it out in a free for all.

I'm on the Doris Fletcher fight and I'm hitting a wall.
At least in part because I'm level 21 and she's level 30.
At this point poison gas attacks do ridiculous amounts of damage.

Hmmm she's nasty but I didn't have any problems...
Don't remember what my level was however. Maybe 3 higher or something.
My approach to all boss fights was: Ultimate/Shadow Mist/shotgun... And then dodge dodge dodge... Hit target occasionally and wait for the Ultimate to recharge.
I had the most issues against another boss however. I think the next one after Fletcher...

I did a "Not Even Once" and its pretty cute. Afterwards, I really want to do a marathon on Anne Rice movies and books. Personally, there are the worse of people in the game who deserve being eaten. But I don't think the game recognize that part as an organic consequences to the worldbuilding.

Finally got past Fletcher.
As expected, ran out of shotgun ammo trying and failing to beat her.
That's when I learned how handy it can be to use the dagger as an offhand weapon to get extra blood in a boss fight.

Finished the game last night. Got the best ending. It was pretty nice. But the final revelations were kinda WTF-inducing, and left me with more questions than answers: Like what the hell was the Red Queen/The Morrigan. A Celtic deity yeah, but...some kind of Eldritch Abomination as well? And her "son" Myrrdin/Merlin was...blood? The original vampire? A god of vampires? And how did he turn Reid? Does he even have a physical form? And where did the "blood of hate" come from? I mean originally. Even William Marshall wasn't the original carrier. The Disaster he fought in 1666 was the original. But where did that one come from?

Perhaps it's because his bloodline came from the top? A pure and direct link to the original source thus giving him some resistance against daylight?

If I recall correctly, nowhere are you exposed to direct sunlight in that level. He's always in the shade. It's still against the lore though, because it looks like full dusk or dawn. Not sure which.

Recent Patch; We're happy to release Vampyr's second update! This second update concentrates on bug fixes for some issues that we've seen reported over the past couple of weeks, as well as introducing a couple new features. We continue to read your feedback and suggestions in forums and social networks and you can expect bigger patches in the coming months. Please find the changelog below: New Features:Scrolling docs with the mouse wheel is now possible when first viewing a doc Players are now able to move the camera during dialogue using movement keys (default: WASD) Fixes: Performance has been addressed, players should now experience fewer performance issues. Targeting enemies - The Auto-Lock option has been modified. Set to "On", the mouse can be used to switch targets. If the binding to switch targets is already used (default: mouse wheel up/down), this option will be disabled. Set to "Off": The mouse won't be usable to switch targets. Only the binding to switch targets will be available (default: mouse wheel up/down) The issue where players would be unable to enter The Morgue is now fixed. Fixed an issue that prevented players from crafting more serum than they could carry, which would result in serum not being refilled when dying. Excess serum will now be stored in the stash, and if there is serum in the stash when dying, the player's stock will be refilled. This also applies to ammunition. The stash now properly indicates the quantity of items store in it. Latest NewsVampyr, DONTNOD Entertainment’s narrative-driven action-RPG set in 1918 London, announces a content update coming later this summer. This will include two new game game modes which add further replayability for existing players and more options for those who haven’t yet sunk their teeth into this dark adventure. As well as bringing a host of optimization tweaks, the upcoming update will introduce a ‘Story’ mode that de-emphasizes combat and a cranked-up, more challenging Hard mode. The Story mode places a greater focus on narrative, allowing players to experience Dr. Reid’s journey with **less challenging combat**. On the other end of the scale, Hard mode makes combat much more difficult. Players will receive less experience from killing enemies too, forcing them to rely even more on embracing citizens to grow in power. ***** Well, good to my ears. Maybe I'll finish the game.

Sometimes I think it’s a mistake to buy games on day one or within the first couple weeks. I finished the game a few days ago and now I feel a little bit cheated. Ok I could be proud that I finished it without story mode yes, but I just feel left out, I could have enjoyed the game more with lower difficulty 🤷♀️

If you all want a story mod, why you don't consider cheating? If you don't know, there's a program called Infinity that works like a trainer, giving infinite experience, skill points, ammunation, etc. And all this is just a toggle.

I'm wary of trainer mods, especially when I start reading about...may cause some conflict in OS blah blah... Once I see that, it's a no no. The mods I would cautiously trust are those in Steam workshop and from Nexus.

I got about a hour into the game since it was on sale this weekend, but I am not sure it just didn't have the feel of what I was expecting. I hope the studio can build and improve on this release for something just felt "off" to me.
