Week 10
Saturday Nov 3 Nebraska at #10Ohio State @12:00pm on ABC - I chose this game because I like Nebraska. Well more because of Tom Osbourne. He led the team way back to be the best for a number of years. This year the team has its worst start in their history. I like for them to win this game, but a lot of things have to happen for that to happen. If anything, do what Purdue was able to against the Buckeyes in their win. Buckeyes
#13West Virginia at #17Texas @3:30pm on FOX - Could be a good game to watch. Texas
#6Georgia at #9Kentucky @3:30pm on CBS - If Kentucky is able to win this game, then win the rest of their games, and win the SEC Championship game, they would be in the playoffs. Lets worry about the Bulldogs first. If they're able to avoid making any mistakes, and have Georgia make a few mistakes, it's possible they'll win the game. Georgia, but won't complain if Kentucky wins
#14Penn State at #5Michigan @3:45pm on ESPN - Michigan needs to win out to get in the playoffs. Wolverines
Missouri at #11Florida @4:00pm on SEC Network - I chose this game because I like to see how Florida recovers after last weeks loss especially what the QB, Feleipe Franks, will do. Me personally, I bench him in favor of another QB of how badly he played last week. Most of his passes were to the sidelines and not downfeild. Is he afraid to throw the ball down the field. Unless he can get his act together, I don't see him starting next season. Gators
#1Alabama at #3LSU @8:00pm on CBS - The big game of the day. An Alabama loss will put the rankings in chaos. LSU loses, then its the next team on the list that will be in the top 4. For LSU to win, they need to stop, or at the very least, limit Alabama scoring in the first half. If not, it will be a long night for the Tigers. Roll Tide

Roll Tide. LSU was a disappointment, I expected more out them and this to be a close game. They were a no show.

Week 11
Saturday Nov 10 #10Ohio State at #18Michigan State @12:00pm on FOX - I would say the Buckeyes are on upset watch. The previous two games, they've given up big plays. If the defense can't slow down the Spartans, it could be a long day for them. Buckeyes
#16Mississippi State at #1Alabama @3:30pm on CBS - Will State be able to do what LSU couldn't do last week? Tide
#24Auburn at #5Georgia @7:00pm on ESPN - This is another game with an upset watch. Even though the Bulldogs are headed to the SEC Championship game doesn't mean they can relax. A loss would give them 2 and possibly knock them out of any playoff hopes even if they win the SEC. I'm going with Auburn for the upset.
Florida State at #3Notre Dame @7:30pm on NBC - Will the Seminoles be able to take advantage of the Fighting Irish who will be without their starting QB? Notre Dame
#2Clemson at #17Boston College @8:00pm on ABC - This will the toughest team Clemson faces before the ACC Championship game. Tigers

Virtue did not triumph across the board yesterday. While Clemson beat Boston Collage and Georgia Tech beat Miami as is both mete and just , Georgia beat Auburn and Alabama shredded Mississippi State. Florida also beat South Carolina. I guess gators really do like chicken... It was a very good game tho'

Yesterday's game was so weird for me at every emotional level. First was the disappointment at empty stands and at the fans booing Franks. Granted, I was part of the empty stands - not for lack of heart but rather only being able to make 2-3 games a year and my last game this year was Mizzou last week (ew). Empty stands were also indicative of last week's performance, in which it appeared the team had 100% quit after the UGA loss and was not even successfully "going through the motions" (although I cannot explain last week's empty stands, especially for Homecoming, which pissed me off). And as much as Franks is super Jekyll-and-Hyde... more Hyde than Jekyll - no fan should EVER boo a student-athlete. Ever. Boo the refs after a bad call, absolutely. Boo the coaching staff... on the fence about, because it can sound like you are booing the players. But NEVER boo the players - these are kids playing for our amusement. For the first half, we looked just like we did against Mizzou - not trying, especially on defense. I was pleasantly surprised by the second half and seeing that the team had decided to stop being quitters. Disappointed with Franks taunting the crowd back, but I can't blame the kid for doing so when he'd been booed. These are exchanges both ways that shouldn't be happening and I hope they stop immediately. We need to be better than this (fans). We used to be a better and more cohesive fanbase. 10+ years of pain and mediocrity have eroded some of our better fan manners, it would seem, which is sad because I would have thought such a walk in the desert would have simply shed us of our bandwagon/fair weather fans and left only the truly dedicated. But seeing the comeback and the fight in that Gator team yesterday was immensely satisfying. It was also helped by Muschamp's characteristic conservative playcalling when having a lead, which was the same script we saw every year under him and yesterday's loss for his team was like so many we had to endure under him. Some things never change. We tried to warn the Gamecock fans back when they hired him that this would be the sort of thing they'd see on the regular... judging by their meltdown yesterday, they are seeing it for what it is now. Even better, FSU lost bigly and that always warms the cockles of my heart. We have Idaho at home next week to close out The Swamp's schedule. Then, on to Tallahassee, where I can't really describe how much I want us to beat FSU and end their current streak over us. It's a rivalry game and it's at their place - and the outcome of that game could make or break their ability to make a bowl game (which I believe they currently have a rather long and unbroken bowl appearance streak, so extra motivation for them not to lose it) - so I don't know what the outcome will be even given the dumpster fire they currently are this year. I just want to beat them, but I would honestly touch myself if we managed an absolute bloodletting beatdown of them.

My sister in law is an FSU alum and she is in a profound funk about the state of their program. Which to be somewhat catty, does not make me unhappy.

My sister in law is an FSU alum and she is in a profound funk about the state of their program. Which to be somewhat catty, does not make me unhappy. I'm sure you have mentioned it or even told me directly before, but my aging brain is failing me - who's your team again? Or do you just generally watch college football because it is far, far superior to the NFL in the fun department? Were I capable of looking at FSU in a neutral light, I would feel quite bad for them. Taggart does not seem to be the answer and has taken a team filled with many-starred talent and thrown them into the abyss. And has something like a 20 million buyout, so they will be stuck with him for quite some time. Meanwhile, their hated in-state rival also has a new coach and has had some toe-stubbing, but he's taken a 4-7 team of broken, low-starred athletes and coached them into something that vaguely resembles a team with a little bit of heart and grit to it, who has had some stinker games but also played above their talent level in a few as well. The trajectory is bright. But I am incapable of viewing FSU in a neutral light due to the way their fans treated me in essentially every encounter I have had with them - at games, in school, at the grocery store, everywhere - since single digits of age, so... FUCK DEM.
As a good southerner I have my alma mater (Sewanee) which is Division III and is also doomed. We're generally happy if they have a winning season. Then there are the legacy teams. My Dad went to Clemson and Mom went to South Carolina. There is nothing anyone can tell me about intra-state rivalry games. My husband's team is Georgia Tech (Go Bees!* ). Lastly I grew up in North Carolina so for college basketball my allegiance shifts to North Carolina and Duke.
As mentioned my sister in law went to FSU. She also went to grad school at Tennessee. My brother in law went to Vandy for college and Georgia for law school. Despite his poor school selections, I still like him.

Lastly I grew up in North Carolina so for college basketball my allegiance shifts to North Carolina and Duke Even though the state has 3 of the best teams in the country, I'm not much of a fan of basketball. If, and that's a big if, I watch a basketball game, it's when the Blue Devils are playing. I like coach K. Good guy. With football, obviously the Carolina Panthers are my team, but its NC. State that I cheer for in college football, though Alabama is my number one college football team. I've watched them play for decades. I like coach Bryant and now with Saban, I believe the Tide will likely win the Championship at least two more times

*yes, their mascot is the Yellowjacket... That was a joke.
Haha! Totally understand that. Given my rabid Gator fandom, most everyone assumes I attended the university. Sadly, I did not. I didn't even apply. Although I did receive a recruitment letter my junior year of high school, so I probably could have. The reason being that at that time in my life, I was not ready to fly the nest from home, so the idea of attending a large university with auditorium-sized classrooms and living in a dorm 1.5 hours away from home was intimidating. I *might* have considered it still had my middle school band dreams continued to high school - I had a dream of playing alto saxophone in the Gator marching band one day - but three years of middle school band made me realize my sinus cavities are so shit that I can't play for long periods. My nostrils literally fill up with mucus to the point I can't breathe properly to play sax (or any woodwind or brass). I did well for the short periods of middle school band, but realized high school and college marching bands would not work, so that dream died. In high school, I attended a science test challenge that was hosted at Jacksonville University. Jacksonville being my birthplace and hometown at the time, I went and I fell in LOVE with it. Small, private university with small class sizes. I would have the same instructor attention as I had in high school. And campus was beautiful, right on the St. Johns River and full of old oak trees. And I could live at home and be a commuter student, not cut the parental umbilical cord yet. JU was my answer at the time, and I do not regret it (mostly). I was such an academic scholar that I earned enough scholarships from the state and JU that my student loan to fill in the tuition difference was nominal - I paid it off within 10 years of graduation. I met lifelong friends there who I consider literal brothers and sisters, bound by soul rather than blood. JU, I believe, is Division II Sun Belt, so... LOL But I grew up bleeding Orange & Blue, and I always will. As a child, we had 10 season tickets in the family amongst my parents, aunts, uncles, and cousins. Since single digits, I've always attended a large number of home games and tailgating. Gainesville is now my home away from home. And although the rising booster fees eventually priced all of my family out of season tickets (very sad, as one set of tickets in Section 17, Row 75 West Stands had been my grandfather's seats handed down to my father), I still make sure to attend 2-3 home games a year (and sometimes FL-UGA). One of my JU brothers is also a diehard Gator fan, living in Atlanta and working at Tech now, actually (Yay, Rambling Wreck! ), and we try to coordinate Gator games together so we can see each other for the same games. You have quite the diverse family, and especially that house divided in Carolina, my God. LMAO I'm from all-Gator. Whole family since my grandparents were Gator fans. A few cousins have Masters from there, but not undergrad, but I do now have a nephew by marriage who is full Gator alum. My husband cheers for the Gators, but he's not a rabid, diehard game attender. On gamedays, my family and/or friends will gather at our house, wish him well with holding down the homestead and watching the pets, while I drive the horde out to tailgate and go to war with our defense voices in The Swamp. It's like a drug to me - I feel so alive and so happy to the point of tears when I'm there. It's silly and sappy, but it means so much to me. Because being a Gator and going to The Swamp for games is a pilgrimage, instilled in me since I was 4 years old. Being there is carrying on the memory of my grandparents, and my parents, and my aunts and uncles and cousins. One day, I will be an elderly old woman. Walking long distances and climbing stadium steps will not be as easy as now. Much of my family will be only memories by that point, sadly, given I am the baby of the family. I may eventually be a widow, having a husband 13 years my senior. But as long as I draw breath and can drive, I will be making those 2-3 annual pilgrimages to cheer my Gators. Even if alone someday. Because that is how much it means to me. That is how traditional it is. That is how much it has been instilled into my very bones. My eventual hope is that when I do die, hopefully many decades from now, my ashes will be scattered on Florida Field - or at least in Lake Alice, if nowhere else. It just means more.

7:30pm on ESPN #18Mississippi State at Ole Miss - The Egg Bowl - Miss State
Friday Nov 23
12:00pm on FOX
Nebraska at Iowa - Years ago this was a game to watch. I will watch the game since I'm a Cornhusker fan. I like to see them win out to make the season more respectable. Cornhuskers
4:00pm on FS1 Oregon at Oregon State - Civil War - Oregon
8:00pm on ESPN #6Oklahoma at #13 West Virginia - If the Mountaineers are able to stop the Sooners a few times, they have a very good chance to win. West Virginia
8:30pm on FOX #18Washington at #8Washington State - The Apple Cup - I believe State has a chance to make it to the playoffs, if they win out, depending on what the higher ranked teams do. Washington State
Saturday Nov 24
12:00pm on FOX
#4Michigan at #10Ohio State - The Game - With the way the Buckeyes defense has played the last few games, Michigan should have no problem scoring a lot. Wolverines

3:30pm on CBS Auburn at #1Alabama - The Iron Bowl - Tides defense is running on all cylinders. Auburn will not be able to put up enough points to match the points Alabama will put up. Tide

Almost all of the rivalry games are today. Go Jackets! excellent Since there are several teams that are Tigers, I will assume you mean Clemson? If so, I like to see them lose. Please will not help them. The Alaburned Tigers will lose big. It might be over before the half.

Michigan needs to get their head out of their ass and play this game like the favorite they are suppose to be.
Bama will beat their little brother. Hell they could do it with their backups.

Ohhhh, that Florida-FSU game was a long time coming. So many streaks ended. The 5 game losing streak to those turd factories. FSU's 41-year streak of winning seasons. FSU's 36-year streak of going to bowl games. I want a Gator snout Photoshopped onto the evil Grinch smirk! And I sure do love me ending Gator victory scores of 41-14. Although, this is my second favorite one. First still remains the 41-14 2006 National Championship shaming of Ohio State after they spent a solid month running their mouths about our inferiority to them. I'm pouring an adult beverage and sliding into the hot tub for a victory soak...

As long as the team that matters wins, everything is good in the world. Stupid Michigan. Why do sports teams in my state suck?
