Think about it, if you need to pay people to pretend to enjoy the game during the moment where it matters the most (first impressions/E3), how confident can you be in your product?
Can we be given the trailer without the awful actors please?

You see that with most games of this type in their gameplay reveals. What they're showing is how you go about playing the game with other people. They did the same with Destiny and The Division.
The best way to show how co-op play works is to show people playing co-op, together. Not just running around together like in Call of Duty.

Can we be given the trailer without the awful actors please? It was an example, more realistic would be 'ShitLord' and 'ButtBreath69' ignoring each other. Realism. And we're 16 months out, there will be more trailers.

Funny enough, the "script" was quite accurate when it comes to my guild when we run open world content in MMO, it was just missing a bit of not game related discussion while moving around.

It did not have a dog.most of my raids always include someone's dog needing to be let out, back in, fed, taken to a vet, killed by a frozen turkey, fighting Loch Ness monster... etc. Also, brb bio was totally missing. And both were sober. Yeah, save for these small touches...

Laughing is a negative? You could still have the swearing, arguing, laughing, and general discussion. When My friends and I are playing a coop game such as Ghost Recon, we're joking about the game and talking shit to each other the entire time because we are having fun. I'm not saying they should emulate 2009 Halo 3 lobby talk, I am saying they should have normal communications between real people that are on friendly terms. You know what I would say if I saw a buddy pop out with a mortar attachment regardless of whether or not it was a good choice? I would tell him the only reason he picked that was because he sucks at aiming. We would both know I am joking and we'd laugh and continue playing the game for fun. Regardless, when you put garbage scripts in the gameplay trailers, it's absolutely terrible. I really want to watch the trailer but I can't get past the awful script.

Aweful as the script may be, it's a pretty standard practice to illustrate the concept of the game. It doesn't say anything about their confidence level.

-(_ANTHEM_)-
Anthem is a staged demo that showed me the co-op mechanics (my interpretation).
1.- The freelancer chooses a mission and leaves Fort Tarsis. 2.- Until the squad is complete, you are basically in explore mode. 3.- Players join your mission whose level is a +/- near yours. 4.- Once the squad is complete, the actual mission begins.
RIFT had a similar mechanic. You could explore the world solo or look at the active mission groups list and choose a mission + group based on your skill level. The game would not allow you to join a horde mission outside your competence level.
From what I read EA is very confident in this game. Bio has put a lot of time and skilled resources into it at the expense of ME:A (imo).

I think you misunderstood the point of the people in the trailer. It's too early in development yet to just have some two randos come in and record a gaming session and use that for the trailer. It's scripted because it's not really meant to show how players would interact with each other, it's meant as exposition to describe how things happen in-game.

Awful acting? You never heard someone pray RNG gives you a good item? Or talk about the enemy mob you run into? (There's a cabal major back left of the stairs). Hell, I've even heard people say to hold off on doing missions/raids till someone gets on (reference to them saying they'll wait till Kim gets on before they do that one area they wakes past).
I didn't see anything wrong besides it sounding more professional (cause ya know, it's a demo) cause if it was my group we'd be cursing and talking about random stuff, but even then we'd still point out certain things. Just wait till next years E3 if/when they let people get hands on with it and whath IGN live stream it, then you'll see how people will act when playing it.

The mission taken by the player at the start of the demo has nothing to do with the Shaper Storm. In fact, we don't even see any of Hell and High Water outside receiving the quest. The quest marker for it is visible for a short time when Michelle goes outside but soon disappear behind the players as they go exploring. The Scar Ambush is probably similar to MEA having areas with different enemies/encounter each time you pass them by. The Shaper Storms are world altering phenomenon according to the official website, you get an objectives to enter them when one spawn but who knows what you do once inside (take a coffee and wait for the world to get destroyed?). Also, there is a total lack of level on enemies and quests through out all the demo. Going by BioWare's track record, that means level scaling.

Think about it, if you need to pay people to pretend to enjoy the game during the moment where it matters the most (first impressions/E3), how confident can you be in your product? Can we be given the trailer without the awful actors please? I started to think. Thought some more. The let my mind wander... I ended up in a dark place. Incidentally. Did anyone know that signs saying 'Electricity hazard. Do not touch' also mean: 'do not shove up your pooper'? This was news to me.

To be honest my issue with the presentation is less that they used non-gamer actors and more that they were just so lifeless about it. It's like they were just reading off a script in rehearsal.
One of the reasons I tend not to watch the presentations at gaming events and then just look up the trailer is because most people that they get to present, even if they are a developer, just bring little to no energy to the stage.

I can't help but think that non-actor genuine gamers would have brought the enthusiasm needed to make the demo a hit. I mean, it's a brand new IP from Bioware and discussion around it is a little lackluster. This shouldn't be the case. However people feel about Bethesda/Fallout 4, that 2015 E3 showcase that Todd Howard did was the last one I watched all the way through. That kind of enthusiasm, knowledge and charisma can't be bought or scripted. Anthem really needs that.

To be honest, I got a huge "how do you do, fellow kids" vibe from that gaming footage. The interaction between the players felt really hollow and robotic.
