When I was playing MEA, I kept thinking how cool would it be for a game like Destiny with all these unique legendary and exotic weapons to take it a step forward. I feel like that step is MEA's augmentations.
I poured well over 1000, maybe 2000+ hours into Destiny which eventually you start getting the same exact exotic weapons drop forcing you to dismantle them for their parts. Besides switching up a few perks in the skill trees for each exotic, my Hawkmoom hand cannon was pretty much the same as all my friends' Hawkmoon. Same goes for the infamous Gjallarhorn.
Augmentations could be used to further personalize your weapons to make them your own or have a reason to grind for multiple drops of the same weapon. Say there is an exotic or super rare rocket launcher that everyone is trying to get. But once you get it, you have to opportunity to add a one time augmentation to change that gun forever. You can dismantle to get the augmentation back but you lose that exotic weapon that you've been grinding for. There's a good bit of risk and reward as well fun/frustration but your rocket launcher can be more unique and tailored to your play style or a certain situation.
I may collect three of the same rocket launcher but then add three different augmentations to use those rocket launchers in different situations. (Raid, free roam, strike, boss encounter, etc)
Augmentations can then be tiered like the weapons and gear for common to legendary or exotic. I would rather it just be applicable to exotic weapons though as legendaries typically have different roles. This can also work with Mods but mods can be interchangeable instead of permanent.
These types of games are always a grind but when there are prized processions and different iterations of that same priced procession, it can be a fun experience when coupled with good gameplay.

So you say you want your augmentations to hide crippling negative multipliers from you just like they did in MEA?
No thanks....LOL

The Augmentation and the Modification and Upgrading of gear in Andromeda was fucking horrendous. There was way too much going. It looked horrible. It wasn't visually impressive. I didn't understand what I was doing. And it was pointless. I completed the entire game on the hardest difficulty without creating or upgrading a single piece of gear.
No. I don't want to see any of that stuff come from Andromeda.
I'm all for the upgrading of ear though, but I need to enjoy doing it. I need to see what I'm doing. One game I think that did it well was Ghost Recon: Future Soldier back in 2012. They called it Gunsmithing and it allowed you to upgrade every (well, a lot) detail of the gun including the length of the barrel, how it fired etc. and it did it in a visual way so that I could see the weapon as I'm piecing it together. I want to see something like that in Anthem. Not some shitty menu that doesn't tell me or show me anything. Every little detail needs to be as impressive as the next.

I'm all for upgrading weapons and such, but Andromeda did it in an awful way where it was just about completely pointless. It's kind of bad when many if the augmentations actually just downgraded weapons. Ricocheted kills your range, some kill accuracy, and some were just weird and cool but sucked damage wise.

I think andromeda has a nice basis for upgrading, but it needs to be worked out better.
Also, why isn't elemental ammo an augment instead of a consumable? Boggles the mind and makes much more lore sense.
