I thought season six was an awesome season, and probably my second favorite season overall after season three. I'm not sure what spoiler policy people would like to use in a thread like this, so if you aren't caught up or don't want potential book/show stuff spoiled I'd be wary until a consensus is reached on what should and shouldn't be spoiler tagged.
Anyways I guess some conversation starters could be; favorite episode, character, actor, or moment, what'd you think of season six or previous seasons, and team Dany, Jon, Night King, or someone else?
I thought the last episode was incredible and my favorite episode of TV since The Wire's Avon and Stringer episode at the end of season 3. I can't believe they nominated Emilia Clarke over Iwan Rheon for an emmy. I'm glad Arya and Dany are finally doing things. I'm still salty about how they handled Stannis. I love to hate Cersei and I have no idea what they're trying to do with Sansa's character.

I loved this season, going beyond the books in the story was unsettling though and really season seven can't come soon enough, although I really hope we get a book before then. my favorite moments off the top of my head Sansa setting the dogs on Ramsay, never has a character deserved such a gruesome end so much. If I was Sansa I'd have smirked about it too. I was really shocked by the mass carnage (or incineration) of the Tyrell's, I have a feeling that Cersei's dominance is going to be short lived though.

Watching my Queen, Cersei reign supreme over all her foes was the highlight of the season, and quite possibly the entire show.

I thought the best seasons were were 4,1,2 and 3 in that order. There were some individually cool things in the last couple of seasons but some of the characters are now becoming extremely inconsistent. I liked a lot of the Bran stuff, which is odd because I find his storyline to at times be a bit boring in the books. I liked the white walker origin reveal (I think this is likely a book spoiler), I liked the Hodor episode, I liked finally seeing the tower of joy scene. I also liked Cersei's trial scene.
I generally didn't like the north storyline or the fact over the last two seasons they reduced Jon Snow to a stupid warrior. Also disappointed with Tyrions dialogue, fallen off quite a bit and not really very funny anymore. Jaime also continues to be a hollow shell of his book character although he is very difficult to do in the show as his best lines are thought of in his head and then he says something completely different out loud.
The kingsmoot was completely unconvincing with shoddy scripting and directing imo. The way some characters seem to teleport around is also a bit jarring if you are aware of the distances. Overall I don't think the show is the masterpiece it promised to be early on, but I still find it entertaining.

We are gonna get so many kegs when the Mad Hag burns/freezes. It's going to be glorious. Just thinking about it gives me shivers.

Littlefinger has been doing it since season two. Ideally they could go more in depth and people teleporting everywhere wouldn't be such a problem, but then it would take 11 or 12 seasons to finish this thing instead of 8. Writing wise I wasn't too big a fan of Arya's Braavos arc I thought the North was okay other than Sansa and Jon kind of being stupid sometimes. Ramsay killed it tho.

I'd put Season 6 as my tied with season 4. SO many great moments but when it fell flat, it fell FLAT. Best war/battle ever filmed since Saving Private Ryan's Normandy scene, most cathartic ending to a long, ongoing arc spanning 5 seasons ("Jon Snow has avenged the Red Wedding!"). King In The North part 2 gave me tons of goosebumps. Gotta say the Winterfell theme is my favorite song from GoT. The Starks are back in full force. Watch out.

Writing wise I wasn't too big a fan of Arya's Braavos arc I thought the North was okay other than Sansa and Jon kind of being stupid sometimes. Ramsay killed it tho. I guess a big part of my problems with the North plot is how much more depth it has in the books. You have all the additional houses who are plotting away inside and outside winterfell. You have Jon brokering marriages and in increasingly lending support to Stanis, Karstark treachery which can then be used against the Boltons by Stannis after he discovers it, Freys getting mysteriously killed inside Winterfell, the question of just how much of the pink letter is true, Wyman Manderly who is awesome instead of insipid, the curious case of Barbery Dustin and just who's side she is really on, and then the question of whether Robbs will will come into play. What will STannis do with Theon and Asha/Yara. It's one of my favorite storylines in the books and to see more than 90% of the depth and complexity stripped away is disappointing. The Riverlands which is somewhat related has also been almost written out of the story. Some of the teleporting is worse than others. There was no need for Littlefinger to be summoned back to Kings landing in season 5, there was no need to show Varys with Daenerys at the end of season 6. It just adds contradictions without adding anything to the story. One scene I would have liked to see for Arya was her cat warging when she was blind. They could have done it by her blocking one of the waifs shots and smacking her back with them having no idea how she did it. I did like the candle scene, that was cool but the entire stabbed in the guts and recovery in the previous episode was not immersive.

Bah, the "teleporting" thing is nonsense to me. I interpret it as time passing; a literary device. Varys didn't exactly sail from Meereen to Dorne then back in the span of two days. It's to show that months or weeks have passed, given how long it'd take to not only make those trips but to also get the Dothraki horde and all those ships and allies together.

After season three it's all gone downhill... I still watch it, but the farther it has gone from the source material (the books) the worse it has gotten. Last season had couple highlights (Sansa's & Jon's reunion, for example) but also lot of bad narrative choices.

Season 6 was a drastic improvement over 5 I think, even though Tommen dying ruined my theory.
Looking forward to CGI Euron/Dany naval battles. Krakens vs Dragons will match the epicness of Mega Shark vs Giant Octopus.

The King's Landing is perhaps the most unintentionally funny moments in the show. And on Gilly's baby: it does bring up a bit of a disjointed narrative doesn't it? I'll just assume Sam's journey happened way before the events surrounding Dany. After all, Brienne's still rowing a boat to Winterfell

Although Sam and Gilly's storyline I've pretty much repressed like the Sand Snakes. Sam and Gilly have been having the same conversation what seems like for two seasons now.

I didn't like the newest season all that much. The first part of the season seemed extremely slow, as if they could have just combined episodes. The latter part was of course good, and I was happy that a certain guy got eaten by dogs. Disappointed that there seemed to be buildup for Riverrun shenanigans, and then that never happened.
I am not sure which season is my favorite. Hound traveling with Arya might have been my favorite little arc though.
