I was worried about power classes & squishy classes... but it sounds like XX characters were meant to make up for that. Veteran bonus only adds melee, power and combo detonation damage. Doesn't give you DR, so the squishiness remains. Yep.. but that damage boost at rank 20 is very very significant, making common classes considerably more lethal than rank 10 rare / ultra rare classes. 40% damage to powers, combo damage (that one is the big one) and even the 40% melee damage boost let you bring enemies down in platinum much much faster than a rank 10 could hope to. A rank 20 human vanguard is surprisingly devastating on platinum if you're careful enough (in my eyes it gains the most from the rank 20 bonuses since as a class it relies on all 3 aspects heavily.. power damage, combos and lots of melee.. fits vanguards extremely well).

I got in one game last night on my Operator IV and I felt very confident in the kit despite missing skill points and any Vet bonuses. Invasion debuffs are noticeable; Shield Boost really smooths out damage spikes and gives you your oh shit button. I ran Expert Package and a Rozerad IV and it felt like I was doing plenty of damage and having really good power uptime. I wasn't confident in our ability to finish the run so I only ran bronze pistol amp and disruptor buffs. Everyone died a lot but we completed and it only took about 25 mins. Not impressive, but it got the job done.

The issue I will have is being one of the two non infils in a match and getting my ass shot off all game long. This begs the question: which classes/kits are the tankiest? If I drop into a match full of cloaks and stealth grids I think I'll go for the tankiest kit available. Suggestions on a kit and gear + boosters?

i found that i can't take my usual favorite class the Human Adept (aka pwnytail) into plat without playing SUPER conservatively. she's just too squishy. 2 seconds out of cover to CC a group of enemies, and i'm getting donkey punched to the back of my head with lasers and flak cannons. still top scored because ... well... the human adept is a huge score slut, but the game wasn't very fun. i find the tankier and stealthy classes to be more fun on plat (e.g. kro merc, infiltrators) because you spend more time actually playing the game rather than cowering or fleeing for your life. Same experience I had switching up soldiers/infils to finally take my HumEng out. I forgot she has ZERO DR or useful shield regen. I spent all match running, and barely any shooting.

Who else was in your group when playing pony tail? There are two factors, 1) being squishy, 2) being in a group that has one or more than one infil in which case you are targeted all game long by every one.

No, it's not as much of a bonus as you think. It's additive, not multiplicative. And enemy health values skyrocketed to Platinum. What's a 1300 damage combo going to do to a 60,000 HP Hydra?

Follow up question to my tankiest kit query: if you could build a dream team which kits would you put on your 4-man roster?
From discussions I've read today we need at least 1 infiltrator. What else? Good crowd controllers with Singularity and Flak Cannon?
What about weapons and gear? The Supply Pack Transmitter sounded great until I read it was bugged. Has that been confirmed?

I got busy last night and didn`t get to play a game... :gasp: Just curious and asking this question to Veteran players who tried Platinum difficulty. I would dare claim that.. MEAMP somehow achieved nice balance where all kits are equally enjoyable in Gold difficulty when equipped with right stuffs and played properly. Just note that this is just my personal impression regarding the game. I would really like to know if other players feel the same way for the Platnimum difficulty. Is it well balanced for all characters? ..or is it really meant to be balanced only when we have XX characters for all kits... :DD: IMO, there needs to be at least 1-2 stealth/infil in the room or you are toast. I used Angara Avenger all night (cloaked grenades are the bomb!) Devices timer is very fast (30-40 secs) and you will get knocked off device without cloak and fail. It is very easy with cloak. Retrieval is by far the easiest objective. No problem at all for anyone. Boss targets isn't too bad (only 3 targets now). First 2 targets are easy. Last target is tough and everyone needs to attack it immediately. Upload is fair now. It's not bad, and becomes pretty easy with cloak kits. Hack is a SOB...The progress bar moves very slowly and you are constantly swarmed. It is interrupted when enemies enter. It is now by far the hardest mission. We played in 2 full rooms last night with about 90% success rate. We played around 20 games between the 2 rooms. We each failed once on a hack and came close to failure a couple of other times. Overall Platinum is GREAT! It was a ton of fun and a good challenge. You are welcome to join us for a few games tonight/this weekend if you want.

It is appreciatively noticeable in game however. My rank 20 male vanguard's combos, novas and melee attacks bring enemies down noticeably faster than my rank 9 female vanguard despite having the exact same spec / gear. My rank 20 can kill a standard unshielded red enemy in standard 3 punches (no bonus from charge.. just regular punching)... the rank 9 vanguard needs 4 and sometimes 5 punches for some reason to kill a red.. that is MANY precious seconds wasted focusing on 1 target and in platinum every second you spend exposed is dangerous. Look at it this way... vs saboteur (armored), my rank 20 can charge, 2 punch, nova.. he dies. My rank 9 does the exact same thing (same spec / gear) vs saboteur and the enemy is still alive with 25% health at least, often more... often have to punch several more times or fire off 2 or more shotgun blasts to drop him... the rank 20 simply kills much faster, means less time waste in the open or not focusing on bringing down larger enemies. Is it significantly superior vs boss enemies? Not so much... but at clearing out weaker / trash enemies (who hit very hard despite their low health) the rank 20 is vastly superior / more efficient.

Barricade is very powerful if you know how to screw over enemy pathing. The new bosses seam especially prone to failing.
The new Remnant boss especially does not work well against it, if it can't path to it's first target at the start of the wave it will not move or use it's abilities until it gets line of sight on a player. Sitting out the entire wave, you an even lob grenades at it and if it doesn't see you it won't move.
Waves without it constantly spawning observers are so easy that it's insane.
The Blaze hydra also tends to just turn around and walk away when you block it's path, and having it not shooting you is nice.

I was gonna kick it off by playing few Zero/Platinum... lol We only played the 2 apex missions last night (payed 137,500 & 143,750 credits) they were both remnant (one on magma and one on ice respectively) zero could get hectic with how small it is and might not be the best for platinum... I'm not sure about this, just a guess...

If I drop into a match full of cloaks and stealth grids I think I'll go for the tankiest kit available. Suggestions on a kit and gear + boosters? In my opinion Human sentinel and Turian soldier are the tankiest.

All kits enjoyable? Absolutely not. Right now if you don't have cloak or a team mate that can cloak you, you are fucked.

zero could get hectic with how small it is and might not be the best for platinum... I'm not sure about this, just a guess... Technically, yes, but the map is smaller and game is supposed to finish faster which is good for farming. Objectives like disarm and pizza, as well as targets are faster also, especially targets which mostly can come right to you. It is possible to completely block the doorway with barricade so that enemies come from only one direction. Lots of explosions and crowd control needed although the cover there is half-decent unlike most of other maps. Hack or even upload in some cases on the central platform is almost a certain wipe though. So, IMO, games on zero should be easier with a decent dps power-based team. Explosions make a huge difference when the enemies are clustered, multiples the damage tremendously. There is also a possibility to retreat through the blocked doorway just in case, although should not be normally needed IMO.

So far i've tried only the Angara Insurgent and he works pretty well. Hacks is nearly impossible with PUGs since you need to kite the enemies. The Progenitor is nasty.

I would say human sentinel, asari sentinel, kromerc, TSol and the new Angara. I prefer the human sentinel, barricade is a great skill for revives, aggro and controll. The angara is probably as good as if not better, just mine is not maxed out as yet.
