Ninety percent of the gameplay is just terrain exploration for resources and solving minor quests irrelevant to the plot. It may be thrilling to new players, but having to do it all over again each time I want to experience a new race for my Inquisitor is frustrating. Even Bioware joked about this by making Lace Harding make fun of the Inquisitor's obsession with elfroot.

I constantly try to justify sparing Loghain (easy enough with most characters) JUST so he can be Morrigan's baby daddy because I'm only comfortable with him or a romanced Warden doing the DR. Making Alistair do it skeeves me out and if I'm playing a male Warden I don't wanna be a deadbeat dad. But I want Kieran to exist. But trying to headcanon a devoutly Andrastian lesbian city elf into sparing Loghain and urging him to participate in a blood ritual to stuff the soul of an old god into a zygote.... that takes some mental gymnastics that I'm not entirely satisfied with.

I had a bunch of improvements to the game loaded for my husband's one and only play through. He had played the whole game with no Wait times at the war table only to be mildly perturbed when it didn't work in Descent.
Not to mention that 90% of the time I preferred Josie's way of doing it, so the few times I played with no mods I was seriously backed up at the war table. Cullen and Leliana were just collecting resources

I'm the opposite, I always made Alistair do it, and I don't care if he doesn't like it. In DA:O their stupid banters always read as standard TV-couple bicker-flirting to me, and even if he genuinely hates her, too bad, Ferelden needs an heir and I need to not die.

He's still ruggedly handsome in DA2, but I prefer his redesigned look in DAI slightly more.

Tl;dr: Dumping a bucketful of confessions here to get rid of all the little scraps of paper I have been scribbling them onto and then forgotten to post. DA:OMy first warden ended up doing the ultimate sacrifice partly because I had the sinking realisation that she would not have happy and restful life for being such a weathervane of a person, and partly because I thought that the song that drew darkspawn towards an archdemon wouldn't let go even if the soul was transferred into a new body. I didn't want Morrigan's child to have to spend the rest of their life as a living darkspawn magnet and having to avoid secluded places. I loved the Korcari Wilds: I found all the statues we find in the swamp absolutely fascinating and would have like to know whether they were of Tevinter, Chasind or Fereldan origin. Because people usually aren't so foolish to try building on marshy land without doing some ditching and draining first, I wonder if it was natural flooding that had eventually caused all those domed buildings to sink halfway into ground or whether 'Vints had thrown some magic around to keep the excess water away and it had weakened over the years. Or perhaps the bedrock around the Korcari Wilds is limestone. If I remember correctly, water erosion can cause long tunnels to form under it and when they crumple, they take buildings on top of them with them. (It would explain how the darkspawn were able to tunnel through and get into the tower of Ishal.) The Chasind Trail Signs quest had me googling how native Americans had used trails signs (I am a former child member of the Scouts and was familiar with signs made using stones or using carvings on treetrunks) and learned a bunch of cool things and a new meaning for the word 'blaze.' When I connected it to the term 'blazing a trail' - which I had heard before, I wanted to smack myself. It also took me embarrassingly long to make the connection between the words 'dale' and 'Dalish.' I would have absolutely wanted to visit the mage prison Aeonar. Did something break loose in there or were its occupants pulled into the Fade (like that group in DA:A) since it was found empty by Seekers? When I first heard of Isolde, I assumed having read Robin Hobb's Farseer books that his depiction of his childhood couldn't have been the whole truth of the situation. After all, there are differences of temperaments that can cause intensions to be misinterpreted, and in the Farseer books the stepmom had stayed distant to keep her stepson safe and not draw any enemies' attention to him. Needless to say, I was a bit disappointed when met the arlessa. Having seen the Shadow of the Empire armor in a shop in Orzammar, I kept hoping we would have run into its former owner there. Lazarillo's theory (some 50 pages ago in this thread) of bloodtypes influencing who lives or dies during Joining has been one of most interesting things I've read about Grey Wardens. You'd think there is something special in someone who survives the Joining and it turns out those who didn't make it simply had incompatible antigens or whatever. It's like sharing a glass of whole milk and you end up being the unlucky one whose sip contains one of those coagulated clumps DA2In my headcanon world, there were actually four Hawke siblings, Varric just chose to leave out the other of the elder twins. Marian and Carver went to Ostagar while mages Garrett and Bethany stayed home. None of the siblings died when escaping Ferelden and in Kirkwall Marian joined the city guard. What happened was the older twins, Varric and Anders left for Deep Roads where Marian contracted the Blight sickness and joined the Wardens. In Kirkwall Bethany was taken to Circle and as a counter-measure Carver decided to join the Templars. The one thing I hate about DA2 is its economy system, I never have enough money to feel comfortable using it in all the armors the merchants have for sale, and so I end up buying nothing. Probably having the dlcs would relieve my situation, but I'm stubbornly waiting them to be on sale. I would love if you could just point an option in the dialogue wheel and have that option stay chosen without having to continously push the controller stick. That way I could sometimes play through dialogue one-handedly, like I do in Mass Effect. DA:II'd be willing to pay extra for a version of the game which contained the in-between novels as a text file you could read while logged in. My first playthrough, Forbidden Oasis was one of the last areas I unlocked and done after reaching Skyhold. When I arrived there during my second run, I was confused because I couldn't find the giant I remembered fighting there. Turns out there's no giant if you go there before the attack on Haven. Collecting shards is fine, it's using those skulls to find them what's the most aggravating part. My first time in Crestwood, I contemplated for almost five minutes whether I should take the coins in the alm bowl held by a statue. "What kind of person steals from the poor and destitute?" I pondered but even so decided to do it. Not before saving, mind you. I was 90% certain the Bioware had rigged the statue so that my greedy ass would get struck by a lighting the second I pushed that x mark. In Frostback Basin there's this clearing of toadstool mushrooms that had this unearthly quality with it. I thought it was a bit of a missed opportunity the Bioware hadn't thought of any quest to go with it. It reminded me of those rings of mushroom they call fairy rings and in which you meet fairies and spirits in stories. The clearing would also have in been an excellent place for something buried, like those Japanese stories of dead bodies being buried beneath flowering cherry trees. I very happy to find out why someone as practical as Cassandra chose to wear that braid thing on her head, when I stumbled on Matt Rhodes's blog. According to him the braid is Nevarran cultural thing. I wonder if it's specifically a Pentaghast thing. I guess you at least need to be an adult to wear it, because I didn't see her big brother wearing it in the animated movie.

I'd have so many multiple Wardens, Hawke and Inquisitors if possible
often I have to tell myself "you're going to play this character and like it!" which in practice...doesn't exactly work

I feel no remorse whatsoever leaving Stroud, Alistair, or Loghain in the fade. There is no way I'm killing Hawke. I like my jerk playthrough warden better than my "nice" warden, who I feel next to no attachment to. I have an unhealthy obsession with Hawke. I demand all Hawke all the time. I never liked Blackwall. Before I learned what he did, he came across as a self-righteous bore and I barely took him anywhere. After learning his dirty secret, it's obvious the self-righteousness is driven by guilt, but I still think he's boring. I like Shale enough that I wish she were a romance option, despite the...uh...difficulties. As much as I enjoy looking at Dorian's exposed bicep, I worry about him getting cold because he complains about it all the time. I have never understood why people would prefer one of these 3 over Hawke. From the Inquisitor Pov who doesn't know them i think they will prefer Hawke because Hawke is not tainted and can't be controlled by Cory and Also because Hawke may be a valid alternative to the well of sorrow since the blood of Hawke can be used to imprison Corypheus. The 3 wardens are not valuable at all compared to Hawke ,i would have killed all 3 togheter for Hawke. I agree. Even though I killed Hawke on my first playthrough, BECAUSE Inquisition was my first DA game, so I had no attachment to the character. And also because he wanted to stay in the fade, so I respected his decision. But after playing DA2, and also seeing how Varric is affected by Hawke's death, I completely changed my way of playing. I can't do this sacrifice again 😢

What felt wrong wasn't Hawke being dead, but the end of his friendship with Varric. Their relationship is truly special in the series.

I'm just biased because I find most of the female characters many times as gorgeous as any of the dudes, but Bull and Varric have great personalities and look like you could take a very comfortable nap on them so that counts for a lot. I think Dorian and Zevran, etc. are handsome dudes tho, in a debonair way.

French is a weird language. Who else expresses 83 as 4 times 20 plus 3? Anyway, lanuage is arbitrary and sometimes illogical.
The German version of DAO is weird, sometimes it is pronounced "Orlay", but Loghain and Cailan also do "Orlais" with s at Ostagar, besides going OR-lais instead of putting stress on the second syllable. Though for Loghain, this might be intentional trolling.
In German, he is voiced by by linguist/teacher for enlish and german. Also, pronounciation of Loghain frequently errs to LO-ghain instead of the apparently correct Lo-GHAIN. Low-gain makes a great meme though.
I'm curious now how French native speakers "properly" pronounce Orlais.

Yeah..... it's a French word so it's pronounced that way. Same reason Des Moines, Iowa is pronounced duh-moyn and not dess-moins. So the French don't include the S? Interesting. Then I guess Orlay is more like a hybrid between the American and French pronunciation, since the vowels likely would be said differently.

French people don't tend to include the H either (the H is often silent) a few examples;
the name Harry is pronounced ah-ree
French number 8 is written "huit" but pronounced similar to the English word "wheat"
