Will there be any? I want the game to remain on current focus, but as stated in my other comment of things I want to see, I would like the option of PVP. Now, not to annoy anyone, I'm not asking for an awesome pvp set up - not even leaderboards competitions online nothing like traditional FPS games. I would just like something rinky dink. Something I can do to shoot at my friend when in a discussion of "I'm doing so much more work than you on this", "no your just a kill stealer and getting more credit" Nothing big or magnificent, just something if possible.

The short answer is we don't know.
My personal preference would be against it, but I don't know what it involves to include it, nor the issues it would cause.

I'm kind of doubting PvP. The abilities shown currently wouldn't all jive for a PvP type of game. And Bioware hasn't really done a PvP game before, unless you count aspects of SWTOR.

I wouldn't count on it, however if they do it I'd expect it to be a mess if it's anything like destiny and the division. Reason being pvp is setup to be unbalanced if you let players pick any weapon and abilities of their choosing. It also then effects weapon balancing which most devs don't deprecate from the PvE aspect which just punishes the weapons on that side when it's the pvp side that needs fixed. I'd prefer they don't even bother with pvp, it gives more focus on the PvE aspect of the game which I'd 99% say is their focus and it means you don't have to tinker around with weapon balancing as much.

This. Even if it's just one on one with matching system, AI does not complain about being one-shot or stun-locked or unbalanced, while the humans always do. And pvp balance is futile, and will get broken every time they decide to give more levels or whatever to players. If they give you equalized gear in pvp, peeps will complain their achievements and time put into the game are devalued...

I hope not. I worry sometimes when I see BioWare chasing trends though, I wouldn't be surprised if they shoehorned some sort of Dark Zone a la The Division in there.

"If" they were to do that they better get rid of spawn killing. Dark zone was completely abandoned because of that BS. Sad that it was an issue in the beta but still carried over to launch.

I would like to see it. I think it could be quite cool, pitting the different Javelins against each other, each one having some sort of edge over the others.

They've blatantly ripped everything else off of Destiny. It will almost certainly have PvP as well.

I don't understand why people keep on saying this when we have soo little information on it. First off Destiny was and is a failure at something that has incredible potential, why not give another company a chance at maybe creating something that actually does the whole FPS/3PS RPG lite game right? Instead of just calling it a rip off, its more of an attempt to do what destiny could never, and will never do with this new "genre".

Ahahaha, BioWare can barely make half decent games in the genre they specialise in anymore. But they're going to outdo Bungie in an online shooter? The type of game they've basically perfected over the years? Okay. And yes, there are far more similarities than that. "Science fantasy", 10 year game cycle, exotic/legendary gear drops, the "last bastion of humanity" social hub is VERY reminiscent of the last city from Destiny. Not to mention devs have beat us over the head with how Destiny was a massive influence.

Instead of just calling it a rip off, its more of an attempt to do what destiny could never, and will never do with this new "genre". Tbf, as Snake said, the devs have repeatedly said that they drew inspiritation from Destiny and from what has been described of Anthem so far it's pretty clear that have implemented quite a bit of it into the game. That's not to say that all of these things are unique to Destiny as not much in gaming is unique now days but still, it kind of is a rip off. Whether or not Anthem will fail is still to be seen, but despite the ups and downs of Destiny it's one thing that it's not, and that's a failure. There wouldn't so many dedicated fans if it were and it's only a failure in the eyes of the people that don't like it, just like any other game. There is one thing that I do suggest BioWare take from Bungie and that is the dedication Bungie always puts in to making Destiny better. From the day it launched to now Destiny has only improved. Yeah you could say it's not hard to go anywhere but up from the mess it was at launch and the months following it, but they listened to their fans and made strides in fixing what they had broken. I have absolutely zero faith in this kind of dedication from BioWare so I really hope Anthem is a great game upon release because if it isn't it will most likely remain a hunk of junk. On topic and rant over........ I'm not sure they will go the way of other shooters and having PvP or if they will just stick to the MP set up they have for ME and DA:I. Personally, I love PvP in all its frustrating glory. And if they go full on Destiny there might even be emotes so we can obnoxiously dance on the corpses of our foes.

Let them stay in CoD/Destiny/Division/etc. You really shouldn't generalize every gamer who participates in competitive multiplayer as being the same. Truthfully, the quality of the PvP would come down to how BioWare implements it into the game. Whether it's open world PvP or instanced PvP, there are a lot of different methods with a variety of pros and cons. I love PvP, so it would be great if Anthem featured it. I'm not convinced it will, but it's too early to tell at this point.

Lol, because that P2P network architecture is going to be a great PvP experience, right? I am ignorant, but I assume that new Destiny is provided on hosted servers and not P2P? <Googles on the googler> ok nope. So, how well did PvP work in original Destiny? What about that game's PvE? I am not interested in them, but if something can be learned about better P2P structure and coding from other devs, I sure hope they are trying. If Anthem has the same lag issues that afflict the other BioWare Frostbite MP titles, it will be an abject failure.

I think it's something they might be better off avoiding.
If they do it, I think they need to have it be arena based and abandon the idea of using the same weapons between PvP and PvE. That just traps them in needing to nerf the latter for the sake of the former. It's no good.

Specific plot-based 'gladiatorial' PvP with a prescribed weapon loadout only, if at all.

There was a variety of issues from people red barring, teleporting, taking no damage, delays to hit registration, and a lot of people manipulated the network to their advantage. now I only put in maybe 10 hours into the destiny 2 beta pvp, but at least at this moment it seems much better than how D1 is doing connection wise with its peer to peer servers. if Anthem uses peer to peer I honestly expect issues with it, I'd much prefer having dedicated servers with regional selection.

As I said, unless Bioware really focuses on code that actually works better than ME3MP and not worse (DAIMP/MEAMP) then it might be a decent game.
The current amount of lag in BW FB games and the poor engine handling of it is not going to fly in a dedicated MP game.

Yeah...this is where i'am with this.....PvP involves too much balancing to get right. I'm not a fan of Call of Duty, but i have seen a few PVP vids and watched some of my menz play and the gameplay at times seems frantic with players dying incredibly fast and re-spawning.....idk i guess it can be balanced, but i much prefer cooperative mp....
