I don't like it when fantasy settings include both magic and psionics. They both accomplish the exact same things in all practical uses and it just convolutes the fictional world with an added layer of frankly redundant abilities. In my opinion, it should be either one or the other and never may the two meet. i dont like gunpowder in fantasy worlds. So no warcraft or warhammer for me i guess.

That never really bothered me, in fact I kinda liked the dichotomy it creates between magic and technology. There are of course certain settings that do it better than others. For instance, while I do enjoy the world of Shadowrun I don't really like the underlying notion that technology is inherently evil or corruptive compared to pure mana.

I believe that hallucinations are actually the person's ability to see or hear things from a parallel universe.

I believe that hallucinations are actually the person's ability to see or hear things from a parallel universe. Isn't it like 100 times more plausible that its simply a malfunction of your brain? A complex system like that is bound to glitch every once in a while. There is a 100 trillion synapses in your brain, what are the odds of all of them working together perfectly? Now what are the odds of a couple dozen of them not firing right causing artifacts and false data? I have hiccups in computer games but I doubt when I get an Audio glitch that its actually a phenomenon caused by another dimension.

I said, why are some people able to believe in wild, out-there ideas, and why do others just stick with what they know. I read it had something to do with how our brains are wired, in regards to our basic primal instincts.
I'm kind of like Fox Mulder, than Dana Scully in a way.

Crunchy peanut butter is far superior to smooth, which looks like baby poop. Please no one say it doesn't taste like it though!

Heck, I thought - and hoped- it was just one of those culinary missteps limited to the US only. Now I'm not so sure if I want to visit Australia anymore, I mean stonefish, trapdoor spiders, deadly jellyfish, temperatures that rival the surface of the sun and landscapes on fire that ARE the surface of the sun I can deal with - but if the cuisine is as atrocious as in the US I might reconsider my travel plans.-

I need to vent otherwise, I feel like I'm going to have a mental breakdown.
Right now my Brain feels like it's going to explode due to all of the abuse I had to endure reading posts of people thrashing me over the years because I liked Andromeda, DA2, Fallout 3, the Star Wars Prequels etc. I've endured years of abuse of being flung racial slurs, death threats, and insults everywhere just because I dared to like expensive pieces of entertainment. What is it with people's unwillingness to accept the fact that people like different things? Why in the world do they have to resort to threats and insults just to bring down?
I remember Dragon Age 2 being my first ever Bioware game. The game affected me and was one of the games made me realize the potential of storytelling in video games. I remember laughing with the characters and was deeply affected by the twists and turns of the game. I went to the Dragon Age Wiki and saw nothing but people hurling abuse at DA2 players calling them cultists, telling them to get out the Wiki as they are not welcomed. There were even people who were calling an artist who drew Hawke and Morrigan having a romance to have his hands chopped off because he DARED to paint Hawke in a positive light.
I hated the DA wiki for the way they've treated DA2 fans all those years some of those people were scum and I'm glad I left. With Andromeda we all know the wars that was waged here I won't elaborate. But recently I keep getting involved in fights on this site because for too many years I've always been on the defensive because I've held unpopular opinions that the masses of gamers don't share. Especially on this site, it was to the point where I've questioned my self if I was a gamer or not? Was I an EA bot like a certain user told me a year ago? I was at my breaking point to the point where It affected my real life as well.
The distractions, the stress, everything because of the dumb engagements I've had over the years. I questioned who I was because I didn't like The Last of Us, certain things in TW3. To think all this happened because I've been sucked into the stupid war of people taking video games way too seriously.
I don't know anymore, I'm just tired of being judged but I'm told to get a thicker skin. But what does that say to the people who hurl abuse? When will they stop?

That is why I tried and distance myself from most major fandoms (Transformers, Star Trek, Star Wars, Dr. Who, pro wrestling, BioWare, Marvel, DC, and etc) that I'm technically a part of just to keep what is left of my sanity. "To paraphrase Randal from Clerks 1 "Fandoms would great if weren't for the fans." I simply don't care about continuity, history, legacy, and the rest that shit because of fandom bullshit for what basically boils down to subjective opinions and personal taste than objective facts. Now of days I gain more pleasure for supporting the things that royally piss off the useless jackasses from fandoms and mock the things that they love. Just because I can and I drink the tears of crying whining bitching so-called "fans" and can all fuck off and burn in hell as far as I'm concerned.
Then I'm asked and/or told to have respect for their opinions my reply is this If you want my respect you then have to fucking earn it. There is currently only person who I have 100% respect for and that is my father, my respect starts out for everybody at 50% you treat me with respect even if disagree on something it goes up and some people here have gotten into the high 80s with me, but if you disrespect me you go down to 0% and then you and your opinions aren't worth the effort to read one word of your posts and I also have made use the ignore list here which also helps weed out the useless trolls that only post to be useless trolls that never have anything of value to add any discussion.

It is BioWares most underrated game, regardless of the few things BioWare cut corners on or did wrong, so many things they did right. Just an excellent game.

I'm an INTP, AFAIK that's 2% of the population. Could not care less how rare or common my personality type is, that knowledge is of no real consequence to me. I'm rather skeptical to such mumbo jumbo, but curiosity lead me on: ENTP+ENTJ+INTJ And frankly, that is perhaps not a too bad a characterization of me.

I don't know anymore, I'm just tired of being judged but I'm told to get a thicker skin. But what does that say to the people who hurl abuse? When will they stop? The problem of the very angry reception that DA2 got, was IMO directly caused by its title. The first rule in marketing, is to never change a product/brand that has a solid following. Despite this we have seen this rule being broken a lot in later years in Games, Comics and Movies (Star Wars, anyone?). And that has ALWAYS lead to seething anger, confirming the strong validity of the rule. I honestly think that if DA2 had been marketed as 'Champion of Kirkwall: A DA game', it would have been alright. EA would still have been doing something wrong, by not continuing the DA:O franchise, but it would not have been so immediately obvious to its followers that the franchise had been CHANGED. And EA would still have had the opportunity to release DA:O2 later, though, being EA, it's extremely unlikely they would have had the sense to do so. The hate that DA2 spawned is easily understood and very well motivated. But, judged by itself, it wasn't a bad game. As a successor to DA:O otoh, it was inexcusable.

Dragon Age 2 was okay. It's definitely better than Mass Effect 3 or Andromeda. Arguably by some metrics it's better than Mass Effect 2 as well. The ideas behind the plot were more interesting than what Mass Effect 2 had, but Mass Effect 2 is also much more enjoyable to play through. Dragon Age 2 is my favourite game in the series. Even in spite of it's flaws, I feel far more attachment to it's characters, story and setting than any of the other games, which is why it's probably the DA game that I've replayed most over the years. DAO and DAI might be more epic, but DA2 has more heart.
Agree with the comparison to ME2, as that likewise contains some of the best companions and has a great story that is always fun to replay.

Regardless of DA2's merits or lack thereof, it being a rushed release certainly didn't do it any favors and a was a major reason for the kind of negative reception it received.

Regardless of DA2's merits or lack thereof, it being a rushed released certainly didn't do it any favors and a was a major reason for the kind of negative reception it received. This true but in our world of everything is awesome sauce or everything is shit, no in between, many of the most vocal critics totally ignored the things the game did very well.

Not worth the level of reaction it got. You'd wonder if these people would fight for their labor benefits or political rights being taken away the way they were spewing vitriol at Bioware.

This is probably not a terribly unpopular opinion with exactly everyone. But okay:
Action movies just keep getting stupider and stupider.
Entire Hollywood is in pretty poor shape. Harvey Weinstein being terminated and Disney buying up a lot haven't helped.

The reaction wasn't about the DA2 game. The reaction was about what was done to the Dragon Age franchise, and that is maybe well worth the level of reaction. In any case it was an absolutely inevitable reaction. It never ceases to amaze me how crude, ignorant and unsophisticated access media and publishers are. Not just games. Lately the movie and fiction industry in general as well. Are they all just so high on cocaine all the time, that they can't think a reasonable thought? Or are they somehow utterly oblivious of the most basic ABC of marketing, that has been known by everybody else for a century?

Hyperbole I too would like to hold EA accountable for a lot of bad practices and poor choices but the reaction to DA2 wasn't solely aimed at the publishers at the time, it was aimed at the developers. In the end, nothing was done to the Dragon Age franchise. It is now bigger than it ever was.

Particularly the speed of development and the relative polish. But key persons from DA:O had left, and the new team did "the game they wanted to do". If you do that, I'm sorry but you can't label it as something else, just because that something else sold well. The correct marketing approach would have been to say that: "No, we're not doing DA2 right now, maybe some other time. We're doing another game set in the DA universe. It's coming soon, smaller and we're trying new things, but it'll be fun." "Bigger than it ever was"?

It's coming soon, smaller and we're trying new things, but it'll be fun." "Bigger than it ever was"? It's about the facts. Each Dragon Age title has sold millions of copies worldwide. It is arguably one of the most succesful fantasy franchises currently in the market and its massive success has only grown with each new entry. Thus, it's simply untrue to claim that anything "was done", specially since DA2 was a great game; you may argue it wasn't as good as DAO but it's disingenous to suggest it was bad or made with some malicious intent in mind. You want to talk criticisms ? I have all day buddy, but we have to talk truth with each other.
