I've been playing the game on my PC without problems, but today it has almost ground to a halt. I turned Fraps on and the framerate was less than 1 per second, not really conducive to playing, LOL! I have graphics on the game medium to high texture detail medium and anti-alisasing medium These are my pc specs: and I have a Nvidia graphics card. Windows 10 Intel core i5 2.70 GHz Ram 8GB 64 bit Operating System Any helps would be appreciated Last week it worked fine and I have not installed any new mods or anything since then so I am at a loss as to what might be causing it.

Is there something else running at the same time?

There are some background things running, but I don't know what they all do and whether or not I can turn them off. The background stuff is using 32% of memory, which does seem a lot.
I've only turned off Cortana so far as I never use it anyway.

Just checked the task manager again and Origins (the client) is what is taking up most memory, but I can't play the game without it as it is a digital version. Back to the Xbox I suppose. This reminds me why we bought consoles in the first place

I play DAO with a digital copy from Origin, and apart from logging in once with the client to validate DLC, there's no reason to play with Origin active.
Start the game with a shortcut to the executable (\Origin Games\Dragon Age\bin_ship\daorigins.exe).

Start the game with a shortcut to the executable (\Origin Games\Dragon Age\bin_ship\daorigins.exe). Right, this is weird. In my program files I have Origins Games, but only DA2 and Inquisition appear in there, not DAO. I can't find a DAO exe file anywhere in program files. I had a shortcut for DAO on my desktop, so I tried that, but it launched Origin again, wouldn't load without it.

You may want to look for a 'Dragon Age' folder or a Bioware folder. The target program is found in the bin_ship subdirectory. You might try searching for the program "DAOrigins.exe'.
It may have installed in a Bioware sub folder in the 'My Documents' folder.
If you right click your shortcut and select properties, where is the target program?

It may have installed in a Bioware sub folder in the 'My Documents' folder. If you right click your shortcut and select properties, where is the target program? It says it's here: "C:\Program Files (x86)\Dragon Age\bin_ship" But when I look in that folder, there is no Dragon Age, just Dragon Age 2 and Dragon Age Inquisition and Sims 4. Ah, I see it now, it's in a folder of its own called Dragon Age, not the Origins games folders. One mystery solved! I can do a search and open it/get it to work, but again it starts up Origins client straightaway. And the game still plays slow.

What exactly do you mean by lag. Everyone seems to have their own definition. Let me explain. I run a FPS counter and it never dips below 60, except sometimes loading a scene it will take a momentary hit. Now what graphics card do you have? Your system is far from optimal by today's standards but unless your graphics card is less than an 8800 gt you should be fine.

Try turning off "Origin In Game" in DAO if it is on. Sometimes it has issues.
Other than that, I can't be too much help. The only times I had issues with the game would be when I ran it for a long time and it seemed to start hogging memory. Restart would fix it, and I am not sure I have seen that yet in Win 10, and with 16gb ram.

You couldn't play it. I bought this computer this time last year, is it obsolete already? Thanks for your help everyone. The culprit was one of my graphics cards. I have an Nvidia GeForce and there was also in Intel integrated card. The Intel card wasn't working properly. I uninstalled and re-installed it yesterday and the game seems to be back to normal now. I've also clicked the tab for Origin to be off within games.

On newer games you main issue will be that CPU.
