As an avid gamer reality is scope widening and a bitch at the same time. Is technology a plus or a minus?

ahh someone's figured out that the romans tricked the world with currency and assigned a value to an invaluable thing simply through suggestion and behavioural science, a conditioning that less than 1000 people in the world every break because nobody seems ot see the bigger picture, amassing currency is pointless when it has no intrinsic value other than that ascribed to it, and so as governments know this they keep devaluing the "worth" through creating every more currency from thin air .....indeed should things ever go fully digital there will be nothing left for the average person to see other than digits on a screen that have no meaning, this will then break the conditioning on mass and collapse society..... this occurred to the romans when they tried using paper instead of coins, because the coins have an intrinsic value and the paper does not ....
videogames having followed "pioneers" in the social engineering field have figured out how to leverage this trick phenomenon of the psyche and get folks tied into playing their games like a crack addict joneses for a fix ... this however is only of value to those that worship the hoarding of trading tokens that have a continually falling net worth thanks to being of zero intrinsic value..... so unless they are about to start plundering peoples brains for ideas through mind probes there's very little to worry about in the short term, longer term we might need to be cognisant of the potential problems should say mondeleze buy EA games or Monsanto buyout Microsoft or abc buy them all out, because giant multi discipline corporations will always seek ways to steal stuff from everyone either under the guise of giving you a free service or through stealth....
in short there might be a problem because they figured out how to give the general populace neurological version of crack to some degree but its long term effects diminish and people don't hang around so there only about half way towards achieving the goal of perfecting slavery of the mind to their product.... in a decade or two they might have figured it out if those stupid millennials don't trash the world first....

. in a decade or two they might have figured it out if those stupid millennials don't trash the world first.... lol I've spent the last 2 years debating with my kids on all sorts of issues, given them trick scenario's and outrageous propositions and now we email each other dodgy politically incorrect my eldest who's admittedly not quite right upstairs (but she does at least take her meds 99% of the time) got so excited about her colleagues at work she belittled them all as small minded moronic snowflakes that needed a good dose of reality.... amazingly they asked her to become a management trainee... the rest of them apparently took the opportunity to stop being airheaded snowflakes..... so its possible that a wider spread of random melters can be deployed and save the world from the stupidity of the young but that's only half the problem, the other half is the idiots who are employed as teachers not understanding that the world isn't nice and all there doing with their "political correctness" is making a bunch of helpless twunts that will inflict a shit storm upon the world because it seems like fun.... and yeah I had to slip In the millennials bit but there not the worst of the group, the worst are the middle aged bigots teaching them all this shit.....

Haven't watched the video yet, It's too long. My typical reply:
Most millennials had been being gamed. Imagine playing 10 hours per day in summers and in your high school age (early 2000s) while sitting on a shitty PC chair and do next to 0 exercise. Also playing 3 hours per day after the school the other seasons of the year.
I was basically raised like this:
“At the core of liberalism is the spoiled child — miserable, as all spoiled children are, unsatisfied, demanding, ill-disciplined, despotic and useless. Liberalism is a philosophy of sniveling brats.” ― P.J. O'Rourke
Then I woke up from that when it was too late and my career and health was ruined.
"Learn from me, my mistakes, and use that knowledge to become greater than I." - Kreia
Will post another reply when I finish watching the video (someday).

I don't know, if the goal is too hook the player to games and make them pay for a never ending stream of DLC and fees via bait and reward then they're doing a terrible job. I find 99% of AAA games extremely repetitive and utterly un-rewarding nowadays.
And no way in hell does an inanimate virtual object hold the same value as a real object. You have to be really damn absorbed in the digital world to feel that way.

If you bought a turkey sandwich for $5, and the guy said it doesn't come with meat unless you pay $3.50 more, you'd probably tell him to kiss your ass, right? Or, if you bought a NEW car, and the salespeople said the engine isn't gonna be able to operate correctly for about 3 weeks, you would give that place the middle-finger, right? Well... why THE HELL do you guys keep on accepting this horse-shit from devs/gaming corporations?!? All it takes is some self-respect and a bit of stubborness.

Or, if you bought a NEW car, and the salespeople said the engine isn't gonna be able to operate correctly for about 3 weeks, you would give that place the middle-finger, right? I'd ask them if they were talking about the break-in period. Generally speaking, salesmen don't know what they're selling. I definitely wouldn't give them a middle-finger. Oh no no no. If I was buying a car, I'd know exactly what I was buying. The last thing I want is to have a bad relationship between me and my dealership.
