Finally someone brave enough to answer rather than throwing up baseless counter arguments. What?! You wanted people to give what they felt was a good side quest in DAI. You've got it wrong: he wanted someone to agree with him.

Still a great game even better when you're rouge dw who using poison. Go back get some dam elfroot. Ps 3 years to late i heard from one of my friends that a DW Rogue sucked. Also my fiancee tried it (and well she has not played the game...like at all..) and even I've noticed the melee combat was a bit wonky...tell me your secrets. The Bow rogue though was a thing of Godly beauty. Bow Rogue is amazing, but since Sera is one of my favorite companions and I have her with me at almost all times, I never really feel like I want to play one. I usually go Mage because I can at least have Dorian learn all the spells I don't like and I can swap Iron Bull and Blackwall around in my party at will (I don't go warrior either because I hate the Giant Buster Sword two-handed play and with Cassandra and Blackwall who needs *another* sword-and-board?)

Doesn't Blackwall start with 2H talents? OTOH, he does use a shield in his opening cutscene, and it's arguably a better fit with his spec.

I just wanted someone to admit the obvious and stop beating behind the bush and acting like there werent any serious deficiencies with DAI sidequest which you all knew but had too much pride to admit. Asside from being an overall good game, the one area DAI was really dinged on was side quest. Hopefully they learned and will do better with DA4.

Doesn't Blackwall start with 2H talents? OTOH, he does use a shield in his opening cutscene, and it's arguably a better fit with his spec. He might? I just kept him with the sword-and-shield that he came with and auto-leveled him (I'm terrible, I mostly let the game auto-level the companions) -- and his guardian/champion thing definitely fits the tree better. I feel like there's actually way too many active companions; I love most of them (only Vivian can I really leave out; my very first playthrough I ignored what turned out to be her and Sera's recruitment quests and did the game without either of them) but I think many of them would have been better as non-companions with occasional thought-out side-quests and war table resources. Vivian didn't really add much to the main game, which is a shame because in-world her addition to the group brings you real cachet. I'd love to see DA tinker with the percentages as far as what they give us for the next installment; more meat, less filler as far as the off-the-beaten path stuff goes, though I guess I'm one of the few who actually enjoyed the Shard Collecting. More focus on the fact that we needed to look through dead Tranquil skulls to spot them needed to be paid though, as much as Varric getting a shudder was at least acknowledgement.

I just wanted someone to admit the obvious and stop beating behind the bush and acting like there werent any serious deficiencies with DAI sidequest Things that are obvious don’t need admission. The problem wasn’t denial, the problem was your confusingly worded proposition. The only reason I was able to cut to the heart of the matter was because I had the benefit of several days replies and clarifications by the time I got to this thread. If I only had your OP to go by, I would have said much the same as everyone else. For The Empire was also a good side quest, relative to DAI. It didn’t have cinematics, but you made your own cinematics by dodging the magic death beam and mowing down the undead. Good fun. Oh and there is a cinematic side quest that isn’t a companion quest, but it’s in a DLC. The Nug King.

Cassandra pentaghast looks like a man. Vivenne is bald, wtf. The elf chick looks like gollum, *uggh* Leliana & Morrigan look AMAZING, but are not romance options?! WTF? Fetch/collection quest hell .... Cassandra's face looking mannish was a deal breaker. I'm so shallow.... *facepalm* Why couldn't they make Cassandra look like Ciri, Triss or Yennefer? Because Cassandra is not Ciri, Triss, or Yennifer. She is Cassandra; a badass warrior with lots of attitude and a soft, romantic side. Cassandra was not designed to appeal to your sense of aesthetic. She was designed to represent her story. Just stop with the "every game female should look like a supermodel" crap. "Get over it!"

The Abyssal gets a downgrade because it’s such a PITA to unlock. I want to punch Frederic in his mask with the murder knife before I’m even halfway through. I didn’t mention the Still Ruins because calling such an important and mandatory experience a side quest is like calling Mount Rushmore a “scenic view”. They ought to rename the entire map “Home of the Still Ruins”. The first camp you land in when you open the Map ought to be right at the front gate of the Ruins. Or at least you have to go through the Ruins to get to the rest of the map. Surely this is common knowledge? 😉

Haha...you got me there! And if you somehow forget to go to the Still Ruins on the way in Frederic makes sure you head there anyway to get his dragon book.
Western Approach is the perfect area for a portable war table. I hate having to haul ass all the way back to Skyhold just to hunt the dragon and finish the zone.

I have a question for majesticjazz Why are you here? On a Fan Forum for Dragon Age? This is a fan forum made by fans. You are obviously not a fan. You are a Witcher Fan. Can you go there, where the other Witcher fans hang out? Being a fan doesn't mean you can't criticise the game or the company that made it. While I don't completely agree with him, I don't think Inquisition was a good game. It was at best mediocre and a 6/10 imo. It had a lot of issues from writing, combat and the endless fetch quests that just padded a game that should have been 30 hours long to make it 100 hours. The war table was also just more padding, which the game had way too much of. I just don't think Bioware should be doing open world games. Both Inquisition and Andromeda suffered from the same issues, and that was grinding, weak stories and too much padding. They just don't feel like story driven titles anymore, which is what I want as a Bioware fan. Open world games are currently the bane of modern gaming.

Many of us feel your wrong. I find the pc version of inquisition to be a close to perfect game with all dlc added
There isn’t a single fantasy game since 2014 that has all of the features that dai has and as far as I can tell there isn’t one that’s upcoming. Is witcher 3 better in many ways yes however it has many shortcomings (my opinion)
Companions-they are scripted events. You can’t take 1 and go exploring. Dai I can and I don’t feel like I’m watching them from above like other games. Divinity original sin has shortcoming as well
Change appearance- haircut-beard and that’s it and even then its a hassle.
Equipment-forget the sword limitation. Try upgrading armor or finding better armor that makes u look like you should be riding horses at the Kentucky derby instead of hunting werewolves. I’d rather farm for schematics
Movement in buildings-for some reason greatly is awful climbing stairs
Treasure-I thought the junk in dai was bad until I played w3. Looting houses/people 90% of time was broken rakes/worthless junk
I truly think bioware developers stand alone with every good element in the dragon age series

I will agree that you sound more like a witcher fan than a Dragon age fan - which is fine, but wanting Dragon age to be the witcher is kind of pointless imo. Now I will agree with you on the open world thing. I would honestly rather have "hub worlds" packed with story. Bioware's open worlds were beautiful and though they were fun the first time some did seem endless. I like the Mass effect 2 & DA:O way of doing it better. I truly enjoyed hubworlds like Omega and Orzammar.

I think it’s fair to expect big things from da4 and if they can’t make da4 better than dai in in the areas that dai struggled in then its a failure

Idk, man, I fucking love DAI. I love the big maps, I love running around the Hinterlands for hours, and I love collecting shit. I don't even mind the fetch quests. Apart from the ending, DAI is my favorite Dragon Age game so far.
And no, I'm not being sarcastic.
Now go and throw rocks at me lmao.
