So you're saying that Bio want me to pre order a game just so I can play the demo of said game that I might not want to buy? Yeah... no. Not playing that game. I'll be keeping my $100.00 thank you very much.
EA/Bio is going after those people who want/lean towards getting the game. This is an enticement.
I'll consider a purchase when it's on sale.
Speaking of buying and off-topic, the Battlefiled V PC specs are interesting.
Maybe so but it also screams "What are they trying to hide?" Perhaps I'm being way too cynical but...

Talk about making a mountain out of a mole hill.
Right now we know two things. There is VIP access (not exclusive) for people that pre-order and that if you sign up for the newsletter you are given a random chance for access. There is no knowledge of what is actually going to happen during these periods of time, most of the time in other games it is focused testing of certain aspects of the game so don't think it is going to be giving you a complete look at the game either.

Maybe so but it also screams "What are they trying to hide?" Perhaps I'm being way too cynical but... Given the complicated player-base I can understand BioWare welcoming at least a neutral or positive audience to a beta. That's not hiding anything, 'issues' will become apparent anyway. There are more than enough folk with no interest in buying Anthem who would download the 'demo' simply for the purpose of shitting on it.

Do you have to pay upfront for the preorder? Can you cancel it after looking after the demo?

Do you have to pay upfront for the preorder? Can you cancel it after looking after the demo? It'll be whatever the pre-order rules are by platform. On Origin: " What's refundable? You may return EA full game downloads* ... for a full refund. You can make a refund request: Within 24 hours after you first launch the game. Within 14 days from the day you bought it, if you have not launched the game. Within 14 days from the release date if you pre-ordered the game, if you have not launched the game." Does playing a Demo 'count' as launching the game? Not sure about that. However to be 100% covered, if someone pre-orders, plays the Demo then if they don't like it, cancels within 24 hours, I see that as falling 100% within the rules.

I did a quick Google search and it seems its part of the rebranded Origin Access Premier which I have no idea what the different is besides the same. Link to EA Anthem Page

Steam is the worse gaming plataform out there between it, GOG and Origin. Only reason i still use it is because the reduced prices during sales are sometimes a good deal.

Steam is the worse gaming plataform out there between it, GOG and Origin. Only reason i still use it is because the reduced prices during sales are sometimes a good deal. Same with me. Unfortunately there are still a few games out there that are only available on Steam so I buy those there, but its always my platform of last resort. I have even repurchased games on other platforms so I don't use Steam for them.

Early access (usually 7 days and 10 hours play) + a Vault of older games. Origin Access Premiere is a more expensive subscription to EA's new games. It gives 7 days unlimited early play and a vault including new games. The Premiere Service is PC only and as a subscription, means you don't own the games.

Microtransactions Done RightEpic's free to play game Fortnite is making a fortune for them. Why? It's all due to the "proper" way of using game mtxs... that is cosmetic-only approach. According to this article, Fornite is making 2 million/day.
If Anthem can duplicate this successful formula, I anticipate some solid new content on a consistent basis.

Even before Battlefront II, microtransactions were never in Anthem. GC: But one industry-wide event that affected everyone is Battlefront II. And it did seem as if things went very quiet with Anthem a few months after it was announced, as if some sort of development crisis or rethink had occurred. And again, there’s no shame if you reacted to the Battlefront II backlash in the way I’m implying. If you did, I’m glad you did!
JW: [laughs]
GC: Although I suppose you can just claim, ‘Oh, we were never going to be evil! We chose not to be evil before not being evil was a thing!’
JW: [laughs] We were cool even before that! No, I’ll be super honest with you. And I think you can see this in our previous products, like Mass Effect 3 multiplayer and Andromeda multiplayer. One of our baselines has always been this feeling of we want to be generous towards our players. We never want you to regret spending money with us. And so our MTX [microtransaction] plan was always to sell cosmetics. We never wanted to sell power. And so we developed a plan where we wanted these javelins to be ultra-customisable and we felt like as we rolled out into a live service that players would want different things to decorate their javelins with and make themselves stand out and be cool. And so that was always our plan and our guiding principle. And we just kept our eyes open and learned lessons as we went. And yeah, of course we want to learn from the mistakes of others…
GC: So loot boxes were never in the game?
JW: They were never in it. GC: Well, we’ll never be able to tell now I guess.
JW: [laughs] That’s true, that’s true. But no, loot boxes were never part of our plan. metro.co.uk/2018/08/22/anthem-hands-on-preview-and-interview-its-going-to-be-a-big-game-7868613/

Everything I've heard/seen says cosmetic only when it comes to monetization and no paywall for future story related content(all said from biowares recent pax west panel). I've seen some say no season pass as well, but I myself haven't seen an actual article/response from Bioware on that, I'd assume there won't be just by how lenient they're being with everything else.
I'm still curious how much people put into cosmetics when it comes to spending as I wonder if it'd truly be enough to fund future content drops. I've heard fortnite makes millions off it but fortnite also has the luxury of being the most played thing in the world, you should be banking on that when you've got such high player counts.

I would agree on the Season Pass for BioWare has not done one yet and I think their philosophy on them will continue through Anthem. There have been Twitter posts over the last year or so indicating that it will be cosmetic only options and never a lootbox approach. Small sample size, but I know several friends that will buy cosmetics if the look interests them and they don't want to have a massive grind for them. I bet BioWare and EA did the work behind those type of purchases and the costs before making that decision.

EA defies Belgian Loot box Law.
According to this article, "... The Belgian news organization Metro reports that the Brussels public prosecutor is conducting a criminal investigation into FIFA 18's and 19's lootbox systems..."
I guess EA took a page from the Pretorian Guard's book.... to serve and protect monetization!

Oh EA's shareholders will not like that if it indeed does get as far as a courtroom. Talk about bad publicity watch EA's stock prices take a dive... (we can only hope)

EA's shareholders want maximized monetization, remember Nintendo's share prices dropped when they announced that the Mario Run game on mobile didn't have monetization just an initial price. Besides EA's stock prices won't take a dive like this and if they do it won't be for long, I think it was less then a week the prices were back to where they were after the controversy over Battlefront 2 erupted.
