Now, as many of you are likely unfamiliar with Paradox games, Paradox is a Swedish developer of Grand Strategy games for the PC. Their games include Hearts of Iron 4, Stellaris, Europa Universialis 4, and Crusader Kings 2. They have also published numerous games including Mount and Blade: Warband, Pillars of Eternity, and the upcoming cRPG Tyranny from Obsidian. As is kind of a tradition of mine ever since the original Off Topic, I usually write up a narrative for my Crusader Kings 2 games and post them in the relevant thread for Paradox Games. Since this is one of those threads, I shall start off with Part One of the life of Haraldr 'Fairhair' Halfdansson Yngling, the first (and mythical) King of Norger (Norway). On January 1, 867, 'King' Haraldr Yngling, of Ostandet, launched a unification campaign against the independent Chiefs of Norway. On the 22 December, 868, Jarl Haraldr has successfully conquered all but two of the remaining independent Chiefs when word reached him that Basileus (Emperor) Basileios (Basil) Makedon of the Eastern Roman Empire had ordered the formation of an elite military unit known as the Varangian Guard. The Guard would be comprised of Norsemen, and those who volunteered for service were guaranteed riches beyond their wildest dreams (which is saying something seeing as Norsemen of this period had quite the imagination for wealth). The following year on October 5, Chief Heljarskinn av Rogaland finally surrendered to 'King' Haraldr. With surrender of the last independent Chiefdoms, Haraldr turned his attention to driving the Danes out of Norway. The Danes, led by 'King' Sigurdr 'Snake-in-the-Eye' Knytling, one of the five sons of Ragnar Lodbruk af Munso, the legendary viking raider (star of the show Vikings on the History channel). Following Ragnar's death at the hands of Petty King Aella of Northumbria, his sons led by Ivar 'the Boneless' Ivaring and Halfdan Hvitserk (Whiteshirt) descended on Anglo-Saxon England with their "Great Heathen Army". Halfdan landed in York, violently seizing the city from Aella. From their, Halfdan joined by Ivar from the Scottish Isles, 'King' Bjorn 'Ironside' af Munso of Sweden, and 'King' Sigurdr 'Snake-in-the-Eye' of Sjaelland continued their bloody campaign against the murderer of their father. By 869, Aella of Northumbria was subjected to the Bloody Eagle, adn his head adorned Halfdan's keep in York, now known as Jorvik. The British Isles were now at the full mercy of the Great Heathen Army. During this time, Haraldr decided to engage in some viking pillaging of his own. By 874, Haraldr had personally led successful raids on the Ummayad's of Andalusia, kingdom of Lotharinga, as well as the entirety of the Duchy of Cornwall in England. By December 4, Haraldr was able to gain enough wealth and prestige to officailly found the kingdom of Norger. And I suppose I'll end there, at a later date I shall entertain you all with Part 2 of the life of Haraldr Yngling, first King of Norger!

Paradox also have the rights to make World of Darkness games now. It will be really interesting to see what they can do with the license.
Fingers crossed for a new Vampire: The Masquerade Bloodlines I can sink my teeth into.

Crusader Kings II is one of my favorite games of all time, even ruined Europa Universalis for me.
I still have to get into Stellaris. Too bad there isn't a Mass Effect mod for it.

So I've played some more CK2 games, but none of them were able to hold my interest for very long until I started in 769 as the Gupta dynasty in India. At one time, the Gupta's had ruled over a vast portion of India before (as always seems to be the case) their empire fell apart in the middle of the sixth century (about 100 years after the official fall of the Western Roman Empire). By 769, this once great dynasty only controlled two provinces in northern India. Historically, the last part of the dynasty was driven from those lands in the seventh century (600-699 CE), but for the premise of the game, they held onto these lands, and so that is where we will begin: Thakur (count) RamaGupta of Simaramapura and Mithra was a rather old and unnoticeable vassal of the Maharaja of the kingdoms of Bengal and Bihar, DharmaPala. Rama's father, JivataGupta, had been the last recognized king of Bihar before Dharmapala claimed it. This gave Ramagupta a claim on the kingdom of Bihar, but since he was just a lowly Thakur there was no reasonable way for him to seize the throne without receiving help from some of Dharmapala's other vassals. Unfortunately, Dharmapala was seen as a rather benevolent rule, so no one seemed willing to support Ramagupta's claim. Moreover, Dharmapala knew that Ramagupta could be a threat to his rule so instead he gave the Raj (duchy) of Tirabhukti to another minor Thakur. By the time of his death in 785, Ramagupta had managed to father four sons, Bhagadatta, Uditanarayan, Khsetravidrha, and Jitendranarayan, while also claiming the Thikana (county/province) of Mudgagiri. Under gavelkind succession, Bhagadatta would inherit Simaramapura, Uditanarayan would inherit Mithra, and Khsetravidrha would inherit Mudgagiri.

Outside of Mordhau (indie game, look it up), Bannerlord is my next most anticipated game currently.

Bannerlord isn't being published by Paradox since Taleworld's went full retard and demanded independence, which is probably why it's taking too long to develop.

They do nice games, but amount of DLCs is ridiculous to get all of the EU4 it would cost about £186 (thats what it said on steam when you look at downloadable content for the game nest to ''add all DLC to cart'') But the game in itself is fun and i would get stellaris one day if on sale. Also cities skylines is a very good city builder, still doesnt beat sim city 4 in my opinion but thats as close you can get to that gem. Mount and blade is just great as well. to be honest they are very busy.. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Paradox_Interactive_games

Crusader Kings 2 was released back in 2012, and Paradox has spent the past five years patching and expanding it's content, although they're going to stop soon. Europa Universialis IV was released in 2013, and as far as I know, development will continue for a few more years. I wish I was able to get into EUIV, but sadly it just sits in my library mostly unplayed.
