Hi guys,
I'm uncertain about differences between the different weights of armor. It seems that, while there are some restrictions on specific armors, there's nothing stopping a Mage or Rogue from wearing heavy or medium armor. There is nothing in the armor description itself that indicates if there are any downside to the heavier armors. I read somewhere that heavier armors drain stamina more quickly, but see nothing in the armor stats to indicate this. Am I missing something or is this some sort of "hidden" information?
Thanks -Mike.

As far as I know, heavy armor causing fatigue (as a trackable stat) to slow the rate of stamina generation is just a DAO thing. I believe the armor restrictions in DAI are primarily about appearance and having whatever class wear armors that are the thematically appropriate. You can even get around the restrictions with crafted armor by using certain materials.

Every armor class have different stats priorities. Heavy armor have constitution, streinght, mele deffence. Medium armor have cunning, dexterity, ranged deffence. Loght armor have magic, willpower, magic deffence. You can craft light armor with constitution for example, but heavy armor will give you more consritution etc.

So aside from the stats, there is not downside to wearing heavier armors, right? i.e. a Rogue wearing heavy armor won't suffer from a faster stamina drain, he just won't get the greater benefits to his key stats (like cunning, dex, etc.) that a lighter armor may have provided.

No penalty at all.Just don't pick Strength, pick Constitution; that will give you more HP and melee defense.

Exactly. Your choice of armor will depend on the look and the builds you plan to achieve for your party members and yourself.

You can even get around the restrictions with crafted armor by using certain materials. Do you remember exactly how this works, what materials specifically are required for which armor types? I know I've stumbled upon it by accident, and I remember that Snowfleur skin is one of them (medium/rogue armor), but what about light and heavy armors?

Note that while they remove class restrictions, they can't remove race/character restrictions.

Even the warriors.
