Well, if you took Vaughan's money, who are you to judge? If.

As I wrote in the "About Loghain" thread: It's my canon, that a City Elf spared Loghain. She was a pragmatic person, who decided that the Wardens could use Loghain for their own good. She already took in Zevran and he did become her best friend and lover. She also wasn't a fun of being a Warden in the first place, so it felt more like punishing Loghain, than honouring him. I should probably add that she (and I, since it was my first playthrough and I kind of internalized her feelings about characters) wasn't a fan of Alister, so she wasn't moved by his tantrum Most of my Wardens are reluctant heroes at best. Usually they do the right thing not because it's the right thing, but because it's best for their survival. At most they care about the well being of their people, whoever it may be (all elves, dwarfs, humans, just nobles, only the Dalish, City elves etc.), but many time it's just them or their family. Sparing Loghain may not be in the best interest of City Elf's family or people, but from their perspective it could be the difference between stopping the Blight and having it swoop over Denerim, and we all know that swooping is bad Loghain knows how to command an army, unlike the City Elf Warden or Alitair. They are good at doing the missions in groups of 4, not handling hundreds of soldiers. They do need Loghain's military experience. And if all else fail... you can give him to Archie for diner

One of my city elfs spared Loghain. She was realistic about the world, being a warden, meeting Zevran confirmed what she had learned at the alienage from living there and knowing elves who were servants to many nobles and the royal family. She also grew up on stories of Loghain and the good he did. She knew life was hard and unfair and that was much backroom workings especially with nobles, many things were not as it seem. When Riordan said there was a compelling reason to save Loghain, she believed him. She also thought what good would executing the hero, general and regent. It couldn't change what he did and redemption was better. Better to save the story of Hero Loghain than traitor Loghain. Exactly. The city elf might have even heard about Loghains work with the Night Elves. My headcanon is that her mother was actually IN the Night Elves. She also liked Loghain's legend about growing up a farmer and rising to become a noble. After all, if he could do that, why not her. And sparing the queen's father might help her with that.

It can be justified with whatever Warden you want if you think he his a benefit. As a Dwarf I didn't cared much about Alistair's problems with Loghain,as he made no problems with the Dwarves.

Well, if you took Vaughan's money, who are you to judge? Mine took Vaughan's money, accepted Caladrius' deal AND spared Loghain then had sex with him.

If Loghain became a city elf, then my Tabris would likely spare him no matter what Alistair says.

I haven't played this path, so I'm not sure. Do you have the option of choosing Loghain to slay the Arch Demon?
If so, spare him, then chose him to slay the arch demon.
Sorry, your majesty, I spared him as you asked, but he died heroically in battle.... Just like your husband.
