I guess you could say you wanted to go rock climbing, you're far boulder than I in waifu taste. Lol. I think sometimes we take the physical side of the relationship for granite, but in this case, the Warden will have to take care of her own physical needs. I just think Shale is hilarious, and I wanted my Warden to flirt with her and have the emotional side of the relationship. Of quartz, it's possible that Shale has no interest in relationships of any kind anymore, and learning that would be more basalt in the wound for my Warden who is already pretty messed up and coal-hearted to others. Oh...the puns.... they are so painful. (hee hee)

OMG So much Blackwall hate!! I like him and wish he were available to my character. I wish the writers had spent more time outlining his story, too. Characters like Sten and Fenris also did deplorable things (murdered lots of people) but we mostly forgive them b/c we were given LOTS of backstory, heard their take on things, and so on. I think poor Blackwall just suffered, like most DAI characters, from lack of time and good writing. I can see the similarity to Duncan phyiscally; both are dark, beardy, older gentlemen. I do find both particularly good-looking, two of the few DA characters that are genuinely my type. (Cullen, Barris, Alistair, etc. are lovely but too "lovely" for me.) Personality wise they do seem different. Duncan seems more thoughtful and polite, perhaps a bit shy if you flirt with him (which I did as a female dwarf noble I think LOL). Blackwall is forthright and grumbly and has no bones about stating his own mind. I like Blackwall's romance and character myself. It's a "To each their own" thing. In this case, the dislike here is more because of Blackwall's personality and that's a subjective opinion. Glad to see I'm not the only one who likes him!

Blackwall is forthright and grumbly and has no bones about stating his own mind. The difference between Fenris and Sten killing is that they did it out of ...habit? It was the way they thought things had to be. Blackwall/Rainier did it for money and he involved his loyal men to do his ladder climbing dirty work. The guy was scum. I'll never feel anything but loatheing for that slimeball. Also, Duncan was way better looking and honorable. *sigh* And plus his romance is creepy in the way he just abandons you after doing you... i'm so glad that Cullne ruined me to the possibility of ever doing a Blackwall romance. I dislike Blackwall because of how boring he is; literally, anything is more interesting than the likes of him... even Iron Bull is, and thats saying something...

I used a mod where Ser Gilmore was a companion and romance-able but I couldn't go through with it due to crushing on Zevran and Alistair. Ser Gilmore got really mad about it too. DAO - Teagan and Duncan would have been interesting but knowing how badly Teagan aged makes it all less appealing. Awakenings - Nate! DA2 - Carver (except he's my brother) and Seamus DAI - Felix, Fairbanks, and goofy Sutherland (who is a favorite of mine) I think what this thread boils down to is, we need a Romantic Encounters mod for DA like there is for BG2.
Will add for DAO: Ser Perth. I did the Ser Gilmore mod/romance but since he is same spec as Alistair, I left Al behind and then missed his goofiness later on. Also, different VA for Gilmore in Awakening was a bit jarring.
Nate and Anders both for DAA - I usually end up with Anders at "love" status but I can't even flirt with him. And I totally ship femCousland (even queen ) with Nate - they have history.
Don't feel the need for any additions in DA2, though a real, complete romance with rivaled Sebastian would be nice.
Pretty happy with the choices available in DAI as well. There was no one I was crying about whhyyyyyyy couldn't I romance them? I just made a new Inky and went from there.

Blackwall is forthright and grumbly and has no bones about stating his own mind. Having expressed how much I do NOT want to romance Blackwall, I have to admit he's in my party a lot more than Cass and Iron Bull (although the first few games, I used Cass more). I won't let Viv around him either, because I don't like the way she treats him. I always get Blackwall out of prison and he stays with the Inquisition. Blackwall is just too crude for me as a romantic option and of course, I don't like what he did. But at the same time, I romance Anders all the time and my Hawkes always run away with him at the end of the game so I can't claim that I'm too high and mighty to romance Anders (and Zevran). Obviously, I like the pretty boys.

When I first played DAO I didn't romance anyone because I was still a bit miffed at not being able to romance sten.
Eventually (when I replayed the last half of the game) I got over it.

I still think Rylen would've been a better option to romance than Blackwall.

No one in DAO. In fact, I don't plan to romance anyone in DAO ever again.
I wouldn't mind going for Nathaniel in DAA, but as that was an expansion, those characters weren't as fleshed out as the ones in the base game. I'd like more interaction with him.
DA2 is already that way, so no.
With DAI I'd like to romance Cassandra as a woman.
That's pretty much it. I don't consider non-followers because, as above, these people aren't as "complete" as fully-written followers and companions are; we know very little of them. Thinking someone is hot just isn't enough for me.

Thinking someone is hot just isn't enough for me. Me either. Trust me, if it were only about hotness then I wouldn't be so desperate to romance a guy like Solas (I know he has his fangirls/guys but yeah, bald and pointy-ears is, erm, not for me.) I think a lot of us just see so much potential in some of these NPCs, that's all. I want to know more about them, and explore who and what they are via a romance. Those are often the character who inspire fanfic writing for me, too.

Some of the NPC's are so well done that they inspire my curiosity, it isn't so much 'looks', as it is having a personality that I find interesting and would like to see more of and would also like to have them in a romance situation. Whoever wrote Rylen gave him an awesome personality, I'd really like to see what else could be done with him. I have my own silly little background for him, but I doubt I'd be able to do his already established personality and accent justice. I know how I picture a romance for him would go, but there wasn't enough of him expressing himself for me to get a good read on how to do his character.

Thinking someone is hot just isn't enough for me. I'm curious, why no DAO romances? I'm a straight woman, and regardless of the gender of my PC I prefer to romance men, but don't completely rule out women. My canon romance used to be Alistair, but now I can't consider him anything other than a boy. I'm 12 years older than he is in DAO. I just can't RP that my young Warden has a thing for him when I don't; my mind just doesn't work that way. Romancing him has always been a bit of a stretch for me anyway (because of my personality), but I'm now at the point where I can't fake it. Leliana is too much of a girly-girl for me. With both Zevran and Morrigan, while I've read that they have nice romances once you get past that initial stage, I can't get past their initial personalities in order to start a romance. Knowing that it gets better would be forcing myself through it, which I'm not inclined to do. Zevran's flirts and suggestive comments make me uncomfortable, while Morrigan comes across as harsh and unsympathetic to the plights of others.

I thought this thread was about carrying on more than one romance, and boy if that were the case, let's just say my Inquisitor would be getting along with everyone. It's a good thing she's restricted to just flirting.
DAO: Morrigan for women just to quench the curiosity in me. Although I'm satisfied with the option of Leliana and Alistair.
Duncan is foxy, but there would be no way my Warden could romance him, mostly because he physically looks more like her than her own father in game.
DAI:Lace Harding (an actual romance), Krem, and I don't ever side with the Templars, but from what I've read Ser Barris sounds interesting and Calpernia too. Would've loved Cassandra as an option for women. Didn't think I'd love her as much as I do now. Hell, I'd add Vivienne to the list too. I think a romance would allow me to see another facet of her.

My canon romances for DA2 and DAI would not change; my Hawke is perfectly happy with Fenris, and Lavellan with Solas.
While my Warden is happy with Alistair, I have to admit that Duncan and Nathaniel would have been attractive alternatives had they had more of a role to play in the game.

Dragon Age: Origins
I fell for Alistair almost immediately, so I would say no. However, if there was an opportunity to have a polyamorous relationship with him and Zevran... Had you asked me before Trespasser was released to pick someone that wasn't a romance interest I would probably have picked Bann Teagen, but... he wasn't quite as charming anymore... So if I had to pick someone from Origins that can't be romanced I would probably pick Cullen. Dragon age 2
Nope, Fenris has my Hawke's heart pretty soundly secured (not literally of course - with Fenris you have to point that out). I can't really picture my Hawke with anyone else, although I did like what we saw of Athenril... hmmmm maybe... and then of course there is Varric... yes, I can see that! Varric it is! Dragon Age Inquisition
I really like Solas, but if my Inky had picked someone else... She never got the chance to meet Calpernia, but she would definitely hit on her! And then there is Varric again... Oh, how could I forget, she would totally try to romance Ameridan! Hands down!

I always play as a completely faithful, one woman man but if i could have more romance options... Origins - Lady of the Forrest 2 - Aveline and Orana Inquisition - Vivienne, Celene, Florianne and Dagna (What can your character offer to Vivienne? I mean, moreover than his eternal love...)

Origins - Lady of the Forrest 2 - Aveline and Orana Inquisition - Vivienne, Celene, Florianne and Dagna (What can your character offer to Vivienne? I mean, moreover than his eternal love...) I think the Inquisitor would have plenty to offer power-hungry Vivienne. But aside from that, she's still a person capable of caring for others. She isn't a complete sociopath

Origins: I'd still stick with Alistair. Although, having a romance with Cullen as a mage would be good. Awakening: Anders. Really wanted to romance him in awakening. DA2: Pretty happy with Fenris, but Aveline could be interesting. DAI: I kind of want to romance Cassandra and Dorian as a female, but I don't really feel comfortable changing peoples sexuality, even if they're not actually real. Solas with a human could be interesting. Would't mind giving Varric a go either. Oh, and Lace Harding!

Dragon Age OriginsDuncan and Teagan, no hesitation. My f!Cousland absolutely flirted with/propositioned Duncan. I'm all about sexy older men. *AwakeningNATHANIEL~ Especially with f!Cousland, my headcanon is that they were best friends growing up and were almost betrothed anyway before Rendon kicked Nathaniel to the ass-end of Thedas. Dragon Age IIIt’s been so long since I’ve played II (I only have it on PS3) that I can’t really think of any NPCs I’d want to romance! Honestly, I was pretty happy with the options we had; my canon romance is f!HawkexFenris, maybe a threesome/open relationship with Isabela (shut up a girl can dream). Although Varric. Dat chest hair… Dragon Age InquisitionKREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEM Even if it was a non-sexual romance like Josie I would be so happy he is just so cute and funny Also maybe Felix because he was just so sweet. I bet it would be a great courtly romance. And Rylen! He’s so flirty and charming I’d love to have him as a romance option! Also, not gonna lie, I’d romance Inquisitor Ameridan in a hot second Also also, Varric. I think he’s very attractive in both Inquisition and 2, but there’s something about the way he feels more broken in Inquisition that brings out the nurturing side of me.
