Andromeda was created as a contingency plan in case the Reapers succeeded in their harvest. The game tells us this. Where we notified of the Andromeda Initiative during the timeframe it was supposed to be put together? I don't remember hearing about them in ME2. or ME3. Apparently, my Shepard even left them a message. Where was I in that time? Why wasn't I told of this in the OT games? Besides, if what you say was true about the fans and EA deciding things, then we would have gotten ME4, and not Andromeda. But we did get Andromeda and it didn't sell, because it was what Bioware wanted to do, instead of what the people wanted and subsequently EA dropped it.

Hey, shouldn't you pick one? It's either "they wrote themselves into a corner" or "they have to go back to the MW." Saying both is incoherent.

Hey, shouldn't you pick one? It's either "they wrote themselves into a corner" or "they have to go back to the MW." Saying both is incoherent. They fucked up with the ME3 ending. You can't salvage that. Personally, I said how I'd go about fixing it. People prefer the continuation of a high EMS destroy ending to my way out, I understand it, I'm not going to contest it. Bioware are too scared to face it, because it will be admitting they fucked up in the first place, so they can't do it without losing face. At this point, though, they've lost so much face, that they stand to gain more from admitting they fucked up, than not.

They ended their main series the way they wanted to plain and simple Without a way forward. Solid business strategy. And Andromeda? Mistakes were made but it is an overall good game imo. Irrelevant. The gaming journalists didn't like it, the reviewers didn't like it, it didn't sell as expected, no DLC was produced, the very first Bioware game not to receive any single player content as DLC since ME1, the first game in 10 years, since they even adopted DLC practices as a studio and Bioware Montreal closed shop. It is fair to say, no, it wasn't a game people generally thought was good. I dont consider professional reviews never have. It got mixed reception that doesn't make it a failure.

Depends on the professional reviewer, same as fan reviews. Some of them are pretty good.
As for ME:A, we need to differentiate "fun game" and "success." The criteria are different.

I do somewhat but unless it gets a very low rating by the majority of reviewers like a four or less I usually don't let it decide if I buy the game. Unfortunetly many people treat what some reviewers say like it the absolute truth. DA2 was the best example of this for me. It got like a six or seven from most reviewers and it wasn't perfect however they made it sound like it was horrible and yet I loved that game and replayed it alot.
Went on for a little bit there sorry.

There have been games that sell great with preorders yet are absolutely horrible. People didn't know until after they bought the game. And yet there are amazing games that don't sell well.

Same but I've enjoyed a game that was panned once. Only because I knew what I was getting. That game was Duke Nukem Forever. It's not a perfect game but it's fun. It's not a masterpiece but it's good nostalgic fun.

I dont consider professional reviews never have. It got mixed reception that doesn't make it a failure. Considering that it averages 15-20% lower than any other ME game before it, on metacritic, the game performed well below EA's expectations in terms of sales and Bioware Montreal got shut down, I don't know what you'd consider a failure. I mean, did the building have to explode when Andromeda launched? People dying? Bodies flying all over the place? And there are people that do wait for reviews and purchase accordingly. Not everyone buys into the pre-order hype and less people will be susceptible to that marketing after Andromeda and Anthem. And even less so after an equally mediocre, or outright bad, Dragon Age 4.

Andromeda is a failure in all possible and relevant ways.
- It failed to make people really excited during its marketing - It failed to get good reviews - It failed to sell well enough to warrant DLCs - It failed to provide memorable characters - It failed to provide a memorable story - It failed to be in a state that can be considered polished - It failed to keep players engaged long enough for both the single player and the multiplayer - It failed to do anything really new - It failed to keep the studio open
The only thing it really succeeded at is the environmental graphics, combat and either pissing off the fan base (more) or killing the faith of the ones that were still BioWare fans.

Some of these comments. Tsk tsk. Glass half empty, is it? I could see the next game they'll say we will return to the milky way, but we actually spend the first two acts in Andromeda before chasing the Kett back to the milky way. How do they get back you ask? I'm still working on that. So far I've got giant slingshot or surf boards.

Many of those are not true and are assumptions and are simply biased based. The only one that is true is it was unpolished at launch. Rest is speculation and bias.

Well, "didn't sell enough to warrant DLC," at least, is objective. Although I suspect it was more bad engagement numbers than sales per se.

I don’t recall them ever saying they were going to do DLC and considering what else was going on with them at the time it’s quite possible it was never on the table.

Not necessarily. I don’t recall them ever saying they were going to do DLC and considering what else was going on with them at the time it’s quite possible it was never on the table. Exactly. Even admitted by Schrier himself on his Twitter:
Question posed by a follower on August 19, 2017: "Did they ever say there was gonna be SP DLC? I can't recall them ever saying it before of after launch?"
Shcrier's answer on August 19, 2017: "No, but some people still believed it was coming even after we reported otherwise."
"Single player DLC is becoming increasingly expensive and unattractive. Even for hugely successful games, it’s deemed that resources are often better allocated elsewhere. Case in point would be GTA 5, which previously created amazing single-player DLC for the series, and yet the game has abandoned it entirely to simply make more content for GTA Online, a much more profitable venture."
The assumption is that it was lack of adequate sales that prompted the DLC to be cancelled. It may have never been actually planned unless sales far exceeded their expectations.

Andromeda majority of game that includes more stuff missing from that last ark, Milky Way involved endgame/post-game, Milky Way leaning DLC that expands into campaigns that adds much texture and variety to the product. Final result of the setting is a multi-galactic society or at least the start of it. "The Initiative's mission statement is to bridge Andromeda and the Milky Way, create a sustainable, inclusive civilization, and push scientific development forward by centuries."

I thought MEA was fun and didn't EA say it was a financial success in the relevant quarterly statement based on its sales? That's not to say it knocked the lights out but it definitely wasn't a financial failure. If you are saying it was a failure because some people didn't like it or even a majority didn't like it that's subjective and based on opinion. So can you use that as a measure of success if it still made money for EA?

I wanted to see that quarian ark dlc or somethings else and was dissapointed by the no dlc. So I am not one of those people who just say andromeda sucked.
