Since around last year, that's what I've been hoping for, that another studio could get the Mass Effect franchise (or at least make a ME game). Baldur 3 gives me hope, although I've never heard of Larian beforeAS I said, they make the games Bioware USED to make. Oh they're the one behind Divinity, nice. I thought it was Obsidian, I may have been confused with Pillars/Tyranny

Another game that sucked, another game that will be abandoned. Even fanatic positive guys I know about Anthem, are starting to feel like the game is missing a lot of its players, and it's difficult for them to find some, their mission often cancelled.
I'd say in December, it's over.

Support will be dropped (but not sure they'll make it official), but servers will stay up Firefall had servers up for years with 400 players on average playing it

Comedy is dead for 5 years. So I guess it's OK to call something slightly funny "hilarious". And it seem Todd Howard is actually trying to make FO76 playable unlike Bioware devs Even No Man’s Sky got waaaayy better and it was a plain awful. How can BioWare fail to even remotely improve the game with the cataclysm dlc.

And here we go... I gathered most impressive news about Anthem since its release: A pretty good sum up of how most people feel, I reckon. Besides the zealouts fooling themselves.
How can EA/Bio re-energize the player base? At this point, there is little that marketing can do until the game's progression and end-game rewards are tied to the challenges and grind, plus some tweaking in the boring maps and quests. This super grind mentality needs to stop.
Honestly, I still can't understand the miserable loot drops. This need to "stretch' the loot 'cause it's a 10 year journey is a false premise, imo.... and it shows with the drop in player interest. I've got the feeling that the ad for a "LOOT" specialist is for DA4. Bio needs to get that right.
You know, there are just too many games coming out that will capture a player's interest. I've said it way back when, that when the end game is done, unless there's is a catch and honey, players will go looking for some other "challenge". DA:O, DA2, the ME series, heck, even the ME3MP game I've replayed many times. Why? Replayability! Something that Anthem lacks.
This IP was doomed from the start. (1) Mgt incompetence (2) Mgt lack of experience with live-service games (3) Players' expectation from Bio as a RPG story driven game studio.
But, I will also add that EA has some blame as well, imo. They are pressuring their studios to go live-service. as a cost reduction and profit motive. Bio, imo, were out of their comfort zone.
Fanbois faith in Anthem is admirable. But, they can't guarantee a revival with facts.... just hope. And perhaps, at the end of the day, that's all we have to sustain us.

Pretty much yeah. They can't BS PR their way out of this. They need to go the distance and DO IT RIGHT, and release nothing other than the exact thing the players and fanbase wants. With 100% quality control. If they do that, anthem MAY get a second wind. But if they release that half-hearted free 'light breeze' DLC, all their efforts will be in vain.

I just wish that someone over there would get their shit together.
At one point and time, I thought that person was Casey Hudson. Maybe I was right, and the shitty games have been flushed from the system. Or, maybe I was wrong, and they'll continue to churn out shitty games.
Or, maybe it takes all the employees having to sack up and put the hammer down to actually be able to pull a decent game out.
I guess we'll see.

Hot diggity, they’re falling one by one. I’m almost kind of pining for the cataclysm release, just to watch them get slaughtered. But kinda am not as well... evwryone likes a good redemption story.

I blame EA for rushing this to appease their investors. Short sighted of them. I don't really blame them, for a couple of reasons. 1) They gave them over five years to make this game, and had already pushed the release date back once. This game needed another six months to a year due to mismanagement, not lack of time. No way they could wait that long. How long should they have given it before they cut it off. 2) If they don't release Anthem last quarter and get all those upfront sales, there was probably a real risk they could have missed earnings. Having already missed earnings the quarter before, things would not have been pretty, and you'd be talking about a lot more than 350 people losing their jobs. It was not short-sighted. Honestly it was the best thing to do for the long term health of the company, not just one game.

(serious question) EA pushes for monetization and ongoing revenue streams, but I believe the specifics about how to accomplish that are left to the devs. EA is directly responsible for: -- 1. Taking some of BioWare's most experienced Frostbite engineers to work on FIFA instead -- 2. Choosing the flying mechanic (per Jason Schreier's article, Soderlund was impressed by that demo). That article also mentions some other iterations they went through during the process - at one point, it looked more like a survival game. Based on the idea that they were going to make something co-op/mp featuring a flying mechanic, a looter shooter probably felt like a natural fit, and perhaps the safest course.

I can easily believe that EA is pushing for MTX ^^ It's enough to see all the DLC armors/guns coming with ME2, a purely singleplayer game

Yeah, plus Bioware's lack of experience in full multiplayer games there is so much competition here. A dozen or two online multiplayer games developers. RPGs? Just several serious developer companies at best, maybe just a few Western (excluding the Japanese ones).
