I'm amused, Gilli , that your Hinterlands map says "Die Hinterlands" which is apt considering the thread all about leaving the hinterlands. It's German for The Hinterlands. Die means the here in Germany. But I can see, how that fits ;-) I figured it meant "the" in another language. I just thought the coincidence of language was amusing.

The German that still makes me giggle is that you have to fahrt to the ausfahrt. Also, that girl is dick!

I don't understand why I cannot get through this game, I have finished every Bioware game but for whatever reason this one feels like a drag. Not sure if it is the characters, the combat, or something else but I just have a hard time getting into this title. Bought the game when it came out on console and played for a few days only to drop it. I ended up buying the game again on PC only to drop it after a second attempt. Anyways I was curious if anyone else had this problem with Inquisition, I feel like I am missing out on a good title. Yeah, you're definitely missing out on a good one.. Trying to speed through the early game is good advice, like most Bioware games the first portion can be laborious (especially on the 2nd+ playthrough). The game doesn't really start to pick up until you get to the Templars vs. Mages choice. And picking a class whose combat/skills you enjoy is pretty important; I find combat for DW Assassin and 2h Reaver to be more fun than any other classes, so those would be good options imo, though tastes will certainly vary.

Reach level 4-7. Leave the hinterlands. Go to Val Royeux. Watch the game unfurl properly before you. Only close rifts that are in your way. If's it's not listed as Main or Companion, don't do it. I nearly dropped it too, my first day playing. Now I've totally gotten the story, and don't mind dilly dallying minor quests I personally like. but my first time through, I skipped a lot of optional stuff. Yeah the best thing to do especially early on is just get enough power points to move onto the next task and eventually spread out you'll find you'll have more than enough. Thankfully I managed to figure this out quick and it's probably the main reason why I have as many playthroughs as I have under my belt. Because the early part can feel like a drag if you don't tackle it in the right way. So for example once you get into the Hinterlands just focus on doing enough to acquire the 4 power points you need to open Val Royeaux then move on. In my case I would say unlike with DAO and 2 I found DAI fairly easy to get into. Soon as the game opens up some more you'll start to enjoy it hopefully. The key thing is to not focus on trying to do too much in one area all at once. Admittedly it can be difficult early on when you only really have the Hinterlands to work with but it is possible.

You're not missing out on a good title, the game is just simply boring and dull to play. The storyline is a typical hero worshipping, cliché, inconsistent storytelling. The combat is slow and tedious and MMO design is very boring. I mean the game has potential but it didn't live up to it and that is a shame.

Well thanks for all the feedback, started a new game as a Dwarf Rogue and it is going well. Speeding through the main story and only doing a few side quests is definitely the way to go. The game still feels tedious sometimes, the big open environments are nice and all but feel so empty. I also stopped myself from using the scanning for loot button, makes the game more bearable for some reason.

Try Witcher 3. It is way more fun than Inquisition. For you perhasps personally I find DAI more fun than the Witcher. But then everyone has different tastes. Liking the Witcher should go beyond the game itself. CDPR is basically the company BioWare USED to be before they became one of EA's tentacles.

Sometimes you just gotta be informed that not all the quests are actually that important. Main, Companion, and whatever sounds interesting. I usually do the quests that get Mother Giselle to stop reporting that the world is a mess, for example. But find the Exalted Plains an absolute chore, with all it's undead, so sometimes I just don't talk to mother giselle so she doesn't inform me/the Inquisitor about how the world is still a mess.

Sadly, I think that doesn't work here and would probably end up pronounced like "dizz" How about dikk? Sure, I think you could write that, but I don't think anyone would get it. I think they'd just assume you mistyped the word. I've never seen the whole "thicc" movement(?) in german. (okay, I haven't been to a german forum in a long time ) Miswriting words isn't really a thing in german, except if you want to annoy people.
