- You can strafe during the basic attack - If you hold LShift/(LThumb on controller) prior or during the basic attack, your basic attack becomes a melee elemental attack that impacts an AoE, deals the same amount of damage but is a bit slower to chain, and makes you immovable during this time. (I originally wanted an Arcane Warrior type of build that doesn't use Spirit Blade, but whatever) This is my last DA:I mod for probably forever, waiting on DA4 now

We ended up moving the Mage to have those stationary staff attacks, I believe, to put a bit of a restraint on them balance wise. Definitely feels better when you can move and shoot though - unfortunately due to how close we were to shipping at that time we didn't have the time to come up with a more elegant solution to bringing the mages more in line for balance . Something that comes up A LOT in post-mortems for our projects is having things done earlier so we have proper time to adjust balance and pace without feeling rushed. As a fun FYI, the animations themselves (the hand casting ones) were actually re-purposed later on ZITHER! in MP

This is the second mod posted recently that seems to change gameplay code, the Enter The Fade mod being the other. Has someone cracked the Frostbite code? For the longest time, mods were only cosmetic model or texture swaps and a few data table changes, but no code changes.
This is really encouraging, since popular wisdom was that Frostbite can't be modded for gameplay.

Iirc wavebend tried to help me make that enter the fade mod via fade step, but I couldn't get it to work, so he himself took the time to make it. Awesome mod!

Would that solve the balancing problem? Would that be difficult to program?

wavebend Any plans on revamping shield combat? Don't have any plans to "improve" combat, the system is fine as it is imo, and any revamp takes a shit ton of time
