Just wondering do we have any doomsday preppers on these forums?
Gotta admit watching doomsday preppers is a guilty pleasure of mine and was wondering if any of the doomsday preppers on these forums have any advice for the end of the world? What setup are you currently rocking? Got a bugout location or some sort of shelter to wait out the apocalypse? What about a bugout bag for when the shit goes down and you gotta get out of town fast?
Maybe you are in a situation where you can't get to your bugout bag so what do you have as every day carry?
Are you set up to deal with the apocalypse? Please share your wisdom for the rest of us to learn from

I am torn between zombie virus and other. Just pick other then elaborate on what other scenario will take place.

But zombie virus is such a deliciously nasty way to go. I dunno, my bet is that we will all choke on plastic, reduced to sterile, only able to reproduce via artificial insemination and after the last sperm is used all men will perish and humans will become monogendered species and turn blue.

Belive it or not, this is actually something I think about quite frequently. How would we go? What would cause a total collapse? How would I survive? ect. But I can't say I have any good answers to any of them.
I also can't say I do much prepping, mostly because I can't afford to. I like the idea of buying caned goods, and getting a rotation going. But: A.) I don't own my own home and no one else thinks this is a good idea, B.) I don't have the spare income to do this.
I do have a case of bottled water in my basement, for use only in an emergency (like extended power outage, for ex.). And I do have one of those cheap solar powered raido's off amazon (mines made by eaton, and can charge a USB device, albeit slowly). But that's the best I can do for prep work. Instead, I watch a lot of videos about backwoods survival. Believing that knowing how to make the more primitive foods and tools, would give me an edge over the average schmuck just trying to survive. The primitive technology channel is fascinating for this btw.
Edit: atm, I do believe the civil war option might be the more believable of the presented options. But honestly, I think we can still reach an understanding. We just have to be willing to talk.

Have a skilled group. Farmers will be the most important people after a disaster.

Given the current state of global affairs, it's hard not to say it wouldn't be wiser to just accept the inevitable.

Come on people, we all know the real answer. It’s reapers! That’s how we all go out.
All that will be left are reaperized gay frogs with guns.

Actually, I'm going to double down on my answer with proof from the most reliable of all sources: Hollywood.
After all, isn't one of the first lines of virtually every post-apocalypse movie, "The lucky ones died in the initial <blank>?"

I can see a legitimate attempt on the Second Amendment here within the next several years, probably sooner rather than later. Its a guarantee that things will get ugly with that, real ugly.
Although, as much as they actually frighten me, I would almost prefer Zombies at this point.

If a nuclear war happened I'll just put a bullet in the head and be done with it. I may not be in a target area but west of my state are all of the nuclear missile silos and we get a lot of wind that blows from the west so all of that fallout is going to be dumped on my state. Better to die quickly than slowly by radiation sickness.

Could civil war actually break out in the USA? I mean, it would be a pretty one sided conflict. Consider one side has way more guns then the other. And the military would most likely split in such a scenario as well.
Not like things are getting better... I don't think america has been more partisan and divided today then ever since the days of the last civil war.

In an actual doomsday, I doubt those bunker-dwelling rubes will fare any better than the regular civilians tucking their heads between their legs to kiss their asses goodbye.

Zombie Virus and rising sea levels? Outdated! Here in Europe things like civil war, religious wars and total economic breakdown are the latest doomsday scenarios! In an actual doomsday, I doubt those bunker-dwelling rubes will fare any better than the regular civilians tucking their heads between their legs to kiss their asses goodbye. Not necessarily - especially in the case of nuclear fallout a good kit can totally safe your life and being unprepared can do a ton of damage that will make the rest of your life really miserable. A stereotypical bunker / sturdy house actually does help a lot in that scenario - I have been in the NBC squad back when I did my military service and you can do lots of sensible stuff to prepare for that scenario. For example, when you are in an area that is getting heavily polluted by nuclear fallout the worst thing you can do is follow your instincts and try to escape from the area. That will expose you to enough radiation to do serious damage, especially when you live in a dense urban area where everyone else will have the same idea. You will be stuck in traffic in the open in a little wheeled tin can among with thousands of other people when a radioactive layer of dust settles on every object in the vicinity. Yeah, you are totally fucked. What you have to do is sit it out. Barricade your house, seal the windows and all the air vents and wait for a week / several weeks. Its takes time until the radioactive polluted dust settles into the ground and is no longer blown around by wind. This depends a lot on the weather, in the hot dry summer time it takes a lot longer than in humid cold weather where rain washes the dust into the ground. What you really need is lots of water, food, a radio and a good house. A protective respiration system (Gas mask, new production) is also a very good idea, when you can finally leave the area minimize the amount of radioactivity you get into your system. A lot of the stuff in reactors decays into radioactive iodine so you have to get a filter rated for exactly that. Never rely on random surplus filters. I have a little kit because it is one of the few scenarios it makes actually sense to prepare for and it snot even that expensive. Besides the food and water a good mask costs around 120 bucks, a reactor-rated RD40 1130 Nuclear P3D filter that last for around 3-5 hours is 40 bucks each and you can use a 10$ poncho to keep some of the dust off your body. I'd absolutely love to say that those rich dudes that build themselves fully autonomous deluxe-bunkers with all the bells and whistles are dumb nut jobs that would just die a little slower than the rest of us, but reality is in several nuclear disaster scenarios they are totally set.

Things have been steadily deteriorating for the past decade it seems, with it all reaching a near fever pitch the instant Trump announced his campaign for President. The division is what worries me more than anything. Its gotten so wide and deep that I fear that gap can no longer be closed. Something's going to give sooner or later, just exactly what I do not know.

Better to die quickly than slowly by radiation sickness. I would do the same, to be honest. The instant that big red button is pressed, its over. No real reason to try to survive, because surviving means living in a brave new world where society has been effectively reset back to square one. No laws, no rules, no morals. Just people willing to do whatever it takes to last another day with radiation everywhere.

Better to die quickly than slowly by radiation sickness. I'd never kill myself since death is certain anyway, I'd dig my claws into life and hold onto it even if the radiation was melting me into freaking boiling puddle, just out of spite. Even if everything was gone, I cannot imagine a doomsday scenario where I would kill myself - unless I was mortally wounded with zero chance to survive. This reminds me, if you want to watch a good and realistic doomsday movie throw Book of Ely, 28 weeks and Day After Tomorrow into the trash and watch ''The Road'' instead.

Meh, i don't see the point in prepping for doomsday if there's not going to be any taco bell restaurants or pineapple pizza joints to eat from. That's not a life worth living.
