I'm always a warrior but I'm not the one to ask for strategic advice. I just swing and swing until he's dead.

Use those fire grenades (I forget what they're called). When he gets ready to charge, get off to the side. He will pause briefly after the charge, and that's when you hit him with the grenade. Once he is stunned, bash the living daylights out of him until he becomes aware again, then kite around the pillars until your grenade cooldown wears off and you can stun him again. It takes forever, but it worked for me.

Beat him as Sword and shield warrior.", Reaver /Beraerker (optimal). Had far less trouble than the mage. Tidius, yes.. but never felt any danger: he even imapaled me with his sword a couple of times, just shrugged it off and devavoured him.
Rouge with decoy felt almost like cheating.
Mage was a problem. One wrong move and I was dead. Then respaced everything into entropy and killed him. He is actually very easy if you know how to avoid his AOE and impale.
Edit: on nightmare.

I'll be brief: How fast can you run?
Seriously, the most sound strategy I've seen is land a few hits at a time before he comes charging at you, avoid his *really* painful double slashes, rinse and repeat.

I did it with a two-handed warrior - basically, I acted like a rogue. Attack from the side or behind, spam all your attacks, then run like hell until they cool down. When he's about to charge, pause and get out of his way.
But yeah, no matter the class, it goes like the comic.

All played on Hard. My two-handed Reaver warrior was fishing for stuns. Used those stun grenades (can't remember which they are called) also Pommel strike and Devour with the stagger upgrade. I remember Devour being really useful. Otherwise just running around, attacking when opportunity rose. Maybe consider getting a frost/nature rune to your weapon since Arishok is weak to those. My mage actually had the easiest time while my Rogue had the worst (stupid me for not having Decoy). My mage used Entropy spells to lower his defences, then spammed frost/nature. My duel wielding Rogue... damn, it was pretty much: get hit once and it's over because the bastard stunlocks you. Maybe I should have used a bow or something.

Take a weapon, and try to live longer, than he.
