I was a huge fan of the original ME trilogy and went out and picked up Andromeda on day one. Played for a little while (campaign) got to about level 18 but just couldn't seem to get into it.
So now I've reinstalled and started playing again and feeling as though I might be able to dive in, only to hear that EA is pretty much abandoning ME?!
Guess what I'm getting at is will ME continue, if so will it be Andromeda, will it be in game form or books/comics? Any information on this?
Lastly I'm looking to try and get into the deeper lore with the books, are they good and where should I start?

Um, we don't know. Hell, it's not even looking like DA4 is a sure thing.
You can read the first three MET books but skip the fourth. It's apparently lore-breaking and just terrible in general. The first MEA book was decent but haven't read the second.

I dunno, try hitting us up in 2023 when they actually start thinking about making another ME game.

It turns out the last season was a dream.
The entire original cast returns, even John Goodman is brought back from the dead.

If Anthem is a success I think in four or five years we may see another Mass Effect game. I think it'll be another reboot though. More focus on MP, maybe even competitive MP to try and lure in the people playing Anthem to Mass Effect. If Anthem is not initially successful, I think those resources will be spent on fixing whatever issues the game has. Even if they have to do that SE did with Final Fantasy XIV and remake the entire game.

Nothing is ever certain anyways.
The ME franchise is officially "on hiatus" and that's probably all were going to know for several years. The game itself, IMHO, is still very much worth playing through. I'm on playthrough eight and will likely play it many more times through before I'm done. Yes, it sucks to think that Bioware may just leave it off here; but as a separate thing, I've decide to write my own continuation. If they do ever revive the franchise, it will be interesting to see if I "peg" any of the story lines they do pick up.

Naturally he meant modern media. They didn't add the Maas effect archives just for show and its focus is on Andromeda. Right now Bioware's focus is on Anthem though and it will most likely be a while before anything tangible gets done regarding Mass Effect.

I believe there will be another ME game. I would not be surprised if Hudson has sat down with a few employees exchanging ideas of what they like or might want to do for another ME game. Until anything is announced, likely after the release of the next da game, its speculation.

Unknown.
Bioware burned down the original beloved franchise in ME3. Andromeda seems to have failed to generate the enthusiasm of the Milky Way. It will likely be a few years before they figure out how to get out of the corner they painted themselves into.
Personally I'm shocked MEA got released as quickly as it did.

It'll continue. I think the only thing that can be guaranteed to make it "fresh" is a larger emphasis on multiplayer. I think we have a better chance of seeing Andromeda 2 than we do Dead Space 4, because of multiplayer. I don't know if A2 is how ME will return, I just think Mass effect is still better off than dead space.

Man this is what worries me. At least the original trilogy got to end, but DA is still leaving us hanging. Did Inquisition end on a cliffhanger? Yes. The main plot was resolved but it set the direction of the next game very clearly. Problem is, the head writer left and even he suggested BioWare might go in a different direction. That said, it's most definitely not moving forward at the moment. This is strange, since it didn't suffer from the same issues as MEA. If DA4 is on hold, I can't see EA having any interest in ME for the foreseeable future.

I am pretty sure this actually happened.

Nothing is set in stone right now. Everyone, including the Devs I would wager, are waiting to see how Anthem rolls out before truly setting their minds on something.

What happened was the lead developer tweeted that they were working on some live aspects to the game and everyone REEEEEEEEEd in response. No hint of what these live aspects were, they could just be the weekend world events that occur in Assassins Creed Origins for example. Pretty harmless those. But of course with zero info the internet hate mob (which has it out for Bioware and anything EA related) dogpiled and plenty of know-nothing clickbait articles were launched.

Still hoping they bring that franchise back..... Dead Space 1 was incredible.... As far as Andromeda goes?....not sure what happens, but the Mass Effect franchise itself still has a huge following and one bad game does not spell doom for the franchise, but they will have to produce compelling characters that are on par with the original trilogy and create an interesting story to boot for the next entry. The reality is that no matter how many may have liked Andromeda, if they produce Andromeda 2.0?...that will definitely tank the franchise...i'm playing through ME2 again right now and the characters, the writing is sooo much better than what was seen in Andromeda and i can play that game countless times....Andromeda, i barely got thru my 2nd playthrough... No offense Griffith82...i know you enjoyed Andromeda...i'm just sayin'....

As I’ve said before they need to look ahead not back and one of the many criticisms was comparing Andromeda to the OT. That shouldn’t be done. It took 3 games for the OT characters to grow.
