I used the searched function and looked through the most recent 6 of the 12 pages of threads looking for it, so if there is already a Bloodborne thread, it can FITE MINE FOR SURVIVAL OF THE FITTEST
I'm playing the game for the third time (but only the first time past Father Gascogne - don't judge me!) I have mixed feelings about it, like all of From's games, but I'm mostly very impressed.
I was going to ask a question about Evelyn versus Hunter's Pistol, but while typing it up I did the math myself and found the answer. So instead, I will simply say that the game is beautiful, and that Martyr Logarius can eat my nuts.

Actually, I remembered a question I'd been meaning to ask: What does the little circle under the quicksilver bullets mean? Sometimes it's empty, sometimes it's not, but I can't tell what is different in either case. Edit: It's whether or not my weapon is transformed. I guess that could be useful on something like the Reiterpallasch with which it can be hard to tell in the dark.

I love Bloodborne. It's one of my all-time favorite games, and I think I have about 1500 hours in it at this point.

So far, I have only seen playthroughs of Bloodborne, since I don't have a console, but I love the look of this game so much, that it will be one of the first games, I will play, when I finally get my playstation I'm actually planning a hunter cosplay, because it's one of the nicest character Outfits, I have seen so far in games (take that, inquis beige pajama). What fascinates me most about the game is the mythology though. And the many hommages to H.P.Lovecraft, including the sanity system.

If you (or anyone else for that matter) are interested in the mythology of the game, then there's this very comprehensive breakdown that someone wrote about it. It's a hell of a read coming in at over 100 pages, although there are a few pages dedicated to the backstory of the author and the concept of the game so you can skip over those if you're not interested.

Finished my first playthrough. Spoilers. View my a ) scrubbiness, if you know what you're doing, or b ) awesomeness, if you are actually impressed by someone with an over-leveled character finishing the game's final bosses on the first try. I do spend about 7 minutes in the middle wandering around Hunter's Dream/Chapel Ward because I didn't know if there was new dialogue with the chapel dwellers after defeating Mergo's Wet Nurse. All three final bosses feel quite easy compared to the DLC bosses like Ludwig or Laurence. I don't think that's a good thing, though, since the DLC area opens up as early as finishing Old Yarnham. I understand why they designed the DLC bosses to be the more challenging ones, since most dedicated players had already finished the game, but when you play for the first time, the DLC actually goes a long way to gutting the challenge/tension of the latter stages of the main game.
It's pretty clear from the video that I had no idea how to fight any of the three bosses (I did know Mergo was weak to poison, but I didn't know which one so I tried both.) But having leveled up from the DLC and having defeated bosses like Maria and the Orphan definitely made the main game's latter bosses feel kind of insubstantial and unthreatening.
Hopefully, they've adjusted the health/defenses in NG+ to better pace the challenge of the full game.

Does Beast Roar have some kind of scaling mechanic, or does it work effectively in NG+ at Arcane 15?
I've started to invest in Arcane, figuring having 15 would be good for utility, but I realized that I don't know if the "utility" spells require substantial investment to continue being effective in NG+.

It doesnt do any dmg but I believe it will work on the same enemies regardless of what NG you are on. It also doesnt scale as a result.

I believe that the quicksilver cost goes down as you increase your Arcane above the requirement, but I have a bit of testing yet to do to confirm that.

Best Souls game, I love the faster combat as it adheres to my character action experience with Platinum and Capcom's old action games. Plus I just love the style, tone, slaying monsters dressed up trench coats, top hats wielding axe-looking scythes. Good stuff.

still to this day I still have to beat Laurence, the First Vicar, I just can't kill that guy. He's a sketchy boss, though I didn't find him as bad as Ludwig. Maria and the Orphan were very well designed (albeit very difficult) fights, but Ludwig and Laurence seem to be the result of a very different kind of design philosophy from other Soulsborne bosses. If it helps, the key to beating Laurence for me was to accept the damage in the fight's final phase. I tried to make sure I had about 8-10 vials for that phase, and I circled clockwise around him, just accepting and dealing with the lava damage whenever I had to walk through it to keep circling him. The damage from the lava (assuming you're wearing appropriate armour) is significantly less than the damage from his chaotic forward charging strikes. With some lucky breaks in the AI attack pattern, I was able to eventually beat him.

Here's a question I'm going to know the answer to shortly, but I'm curious enough to ask now...
I just noticed the Father Gascoigne summon sign for the first time. I was aware that it existed, in that I had seen it mentioned, but I hadn't ever noticed it while running around. So I always assumed that it only showed up if you killed Gascoigne before killing the Cleric Beast.
Except that this is new playthrough, and it just showed up before I've even encountered either of them. Which I'm pretty sure is weird... because what happens if I summon Gascoigne and then run to fight... Gascoigne? O.o
You bet I'm going to try, but I'm pretty sure this must be an NG+-related bug and he's probably going to disappear when the Gascoigne cut scene happens. Edit: aw, poop. Apparently he disappears if you get too close to his boss fight.
