Unpopular opinion time... i.imgur.com/eilbqyA.jpgOne of the few movies I genuinely don't understand what people see in it (and I'm a fan of Mad Max & The Road Warrior). The monotony of this movie just can't be overstated. I didn't think I had a limit to the number of car chases & explosions I'd watch in a movie - but this movie found that limit. At the point in the movie where they decide to turn around and head back to where they started, I nearly lost my shit and walked out. It didn't help that Tom Hardy's script contained maybe one page of dialogue for the whole movie. Charlize not having much more. And somehow this movie gets nominated for Best Picture?!?

Personally I thought Man of Steel was the best Siperman movie ever made. Dragonball Z Krypton Edish was hype as fok. Plus the Kryptonian tech was awesome. I can see why some didnt like it though.

But on topic, SW: TLJ represents the latest two hours and a half lost in a long, long series of disappointments in recent memory and the quintessence of what is wrong with the Western culture now.

Highlander 2. And I am huge Sean Connery fan. Once you think of it as a dark comedy and ignore the first movie's events it's actually quite hilarious. For me, there's quite a few. The Last Jedi. Sure, Phantom Menace was mostly boring and the 2nd pair of prequel movies was full of cringy dialogue but they had great fights and served the narrative better than hurting it. Last Jedi though? Boring ass section in the middle that made me fall asleep, asian shrek chick, retarded plot, complete botching and disrespect of Hamill and Luke Skywalker, and not to mention the worst use of a promising successor to Palpatine and whole shitfest of other trash. Rogue 1. Didn't need to be told, ripped off Rham Kota, HK-47, Juno Eclipse, and the only good moments were when we got a small glimpse of Vader at his best with modern technology. Spider Man Homecoming. COMPLETELY killed all that was special about Peter Parker in the 616 Universe while having the most annoying cast of non antagonistic characters I've seen since Donkey in Shrek. Take comic book Civil War Parker and compare him to this MCU fuckup: In the comics what made his identity reveal in Civil War was that NOBODY (save for MJ, Eddie Brock perhaps Matt Murdock) knew he was Spider-Man and he was a guy who used trash talking and beating up criminals as a way to let loose of the tragedies and hardships that surrounded him. In Ho-coming we got a happy go lucky little punk who's completely inept and aside from Uncle Ben maybe getting murdered has nothing to worry about in his life. Civil War was a decent introduction without the weight of the comic version but this movie was the opposite of Parker. Don't even get me started on Rican MJ. Should have just used Miles Morales if they were going to make him so unlike 616 Parker. Toby is still the best Spider-Man on screen. Fantastic Four (all 4 movies). Where's the respect from arguably the best villain in comics? Dr. Doom deserves a good, well cast movie. Star Trek Beyond. I thought the original was okay, and despite the cringe "Khaaaaaan!" from Into Darkness it was pretty cool but these movies had a formula that got old by the third film (Kirk's future as a leader in question, Spock has a crisis of existance, Uhura is an annoying know it all, the ship gets destroyed). The casts' attempts the emulate the originals has also gotten unbearable. The Wild Bunch. The biggest offender on this list. How do you make a movie starring Jason Momoa and Keanu Reeves boring as fuck? Have maybe 5 paragraphs of dialogue and accomplish nothing. Keanu. It had its moments but holy hell was I disappointed in this movie. It didn't know if it was a serious movie, a parody, or a dark comedy. Should have been a great comedy, not a near 2 hour snoozefest with 5 or 6 jokes that were funny. Don't forget they turned Spider-man into Iron Man with that new spidey suit, so another notch in this being 180 from what spider-man really is. As someone who read all the Spider-man comics from the first to just past the clone saga, not one Spider-man film came close to matching my expectations (ditto for all other comic book live action films, save Batman 1989), nor did I have any hope for Homecoming. Only reason I watched it was for Batman Michael Keaton himself. Watching this guy on screen is always great and I wasn't disappointed in his performance as terrible as Homecoming was.

That face palming moment at the end you described was spoiled to me by my brother who was explaining it to me in the same face palming manner as you've described.

For me I guess that would have to be The Force Awakens. Had no idea what it would be like as I'd managed to avoid spoilers and what not fairly well. So popped the DVD into the player... two and whatever hours later I was pretty disappointed. It felt more like a cheap Sci-fi action flick than a Star Wars film. Never felt connected to the events in any way, even the old gang couldn't save it. My mum didn't even like it and that's saying something as she's no really into Star Wars. Glad I haven't seen TLJ and I'm not wasting my money on the DVD ether. Take that you damned rodent

Blade Runner 2049 but that was probably closer to 3 hours
Visuals were good and could have been quite atmospheric if the film itself wasn't so god damn boring. The film was so very slow and drawn out and it takes forever for anything to actually happen even the things you can see coming from a mile away, the characters themselves were also lifeless and felt like automatons just going through the motions and while that may have been the point since the characters were mostly synthetic humans it makes it very hard to relate or sympathize with the character or their journey, honestly it was just another one of those pretentious films that thinks it is a lot more sophisticated than it really is.

Only reason I watched it was for Batman Michael Keaton himself. Watching this guy on screen is always great and I wasn't disappointed in his performance as terrible as Homecoming was. You should check out Civil War Precursor then. In it, Peter's got the actual red and gold Iron Spider costume/armor and it was the sickest looking outfit he's had outside the classic red and blue to me. 3 tendrils that sprung from his back for defensive purposes, and a nice display of its capability vs Titanium Man. It was the last great Marvel Comics event aside from Old Man Logan. Though further to your point that was the biggest screw up in having a traditionally independent character in Spider-Man depend on someone else AND get babysat by them? THIS KID BROKE INTO THE BAXTER BUILDING TO HUMILIATE AND TROLL THE FANTASTIC FOUR BECAUSE THEY WOULDN'T LET HIM JOIN. I think Holland's alright and I respect his athleticism but he's English and he sounds incredibly whiny most of the time. There's so many other guys who could have filled that role.

The only positive I got from this was Gangsta Joker. Jared Leto is the right guy for the job to take the reigns from Ledger if they give him screen time and a good script. He's excellent in everything.

But Thor 2? I'll admit I liked the 1st act, but after the Hulk-buster fight, the entire thing goes right into the toilet. Ultron & the internet stuff? Dumb. Clint's family? pointless (they should have killed him, not the guy who CAN MOVE FASTER THAN BULLETS) The entire final 20 minutes was almost on DCs level of trash.... I was shocked. Luckily Marvel studios has righted the ship

Love or hate the new movies, he’s easily the best part.

I think the Aeon Flux movie ranks as probably the dumbest idea, ever, both in concept and in execution. Then suddenly we had white-girl Ghost in the Shell. What the actual fuck, Hollywood?
Side note: why won't they put the X-Men back in their iconic suits? Yeah, the yellow and blue was ugly but it was their ugly!

Ditto on Fury Road. More unnecessary proof that I have different tastes to Hollywood consensus. Also just, double-you tee-eff m8!
***
Man of Steel I'd agree was the best Superman movie made, but I have 0 nostalgia for the old flicks and without a pretty deep gloss they're... old. Man of Steel had Nolan's fingerprints all over it. He tried his best to capture the essence of what Superman means on many, many, levels.
From what Clark Kent's mere existence means, (proof of alien life and the impact that would have/the sacrifices necessary to keep that secret) to Clark's own internal struggles. (Various as they are)
I'd say the worst part of the movie was Lois actually. Amy Adams, she's okay, but doesn't feel like a Lois (IMHO) and I didn't feel much romance/chemistry between them. Arguably one of the most important parts of the story (given a lot of screen time) yet didn't move it anywhere. Albeit it was a small lynchpin moment in the making for BvS. One of the moments I liked about BvS (I didn't like it 80% of the time fyi) was the switch Luther makes between Superman's "special lady". It is also further moved forward in Justice League when Lois is Batman's "big guns" after Superman pulls a Lazarus to help calm down Supe.
Sort of odd now I think about it, the movie I like more had less of that than the two I liked considerably less.
***
Didn't care for Age of Ultron much either but there's plenty worse out there. On a side note, I remember Whedon in a smaller interview mentioning that if Ultron was as powerful in the comics as he was in the movie the Avengers would lose. He regretted the necessity of "dumbing down" Ultron to something manageable in a movie format. I don't think those comments were widely publicized... Also that Quicksilver needed to die. Good lord terribad AND pointless.
