After convincing Dwyn to give up the sword, I couldn't activate the chest where it was.
There was no option to open it. It's like the game wasn't recognizing it as an object you can interact with.

After convincing Dwyn to give up the sword, I couldn't activate the chest where it was. There was no option to open it. It's like the game wasn't recognizing it as an object you can interact with. Double-check your inventory and see if the sword [gift] is there. I had the same thing happen to me. Instead of Dwyn handing me the key to the chest, he handed me the sword instead. When I went around the corner to check his lock box it was sparkling but could not be interacted with. IF you were handed the key and unable to interact with the lock box. Exit Dwyn's home. Hard Save the game. Close the game. Reboot the game. Load the save and enter his house. You should be able to interact with the chest now. Worst case scenario: Use the console and summon the sword: Runscript additem gen_im_gift_sword_sten
