Decided to watch the new "Roswell, New Mexico" show because I was a fan of the old one, despite it being a teen drama. The lead character has already changed from white to Latino. Not terrible considering the location but a change. Then the sheriff. Again, no special issue with the race change (though I'm honestly doubtful we'd see it). Problem is said sheriff also now female. On top of all that, the lead character complains she lost funding for something she was doing because "somebody had to build a wall". Can it get more SJW than that? Do I really need politics in a sci-fi drama?

Also the aliens are supposed to be immigrants/refugees from another planet, so wouldn't it be all-but-impossible to avoid getting political? Besides, it's not like science fiction has never gotten political before when dealing with aliens, that's kinda a running thing from Star Wars, Star Trek, Alien Nation, District 9, to even Superman?
On a side note, this is actually the first time I've heard about them remaking the series. So far is it better or worse than the original?

I don't know what to say. Bishop Heahmud died. He died because he stopped to look at Lagertha and smiled because he was seeing her glory in battle. Despite everything, he loved her and admitted it with his last breath.

Is it really SJW to point out the realism that Trump's Folly might have diverted funding from other government agencies or more important community projects? Yes. They're pushing an agenda. The original Roswell never pushed anything of the sort beyond some vague conspiracies that have been bounding around for decades. It didn't point to anyone other than some mythical organization hunting aliens. Make it simple and say a government project diverted funds. The viewers can decide for themselves what that means. Sorry, but CW is pushing a very SJW agenda. All it takes to see it is to step back from an extreme liberal viewpoint. To be clear, I was always center left politics wise and wouldn't have liked this sort of thing even five years ago. Also the aliens are supposed to be immigrants/refugees from another planet, so wouldn't it be all-but-impossible to avoid getting political? No, it's ridiculous. Illegal immigration always was and always will be an issue. It's nothing new other than that growing social media forces people to think about it non-stop. Fictional television programs of this nature need to be an escape from reality not just one more outlet to force people to believe what they want. And, really, Gillette has just proven how badly pushing said agenda can backfire. Now let's look at Charmed. They rewrote it as three black girls filling the roles of the Charmed Ones. NBD. Why? Because they didn't make an issue about it in the show itself. The lab Macy worked for was downsized. Corporate decision that didn't point the finger at any specific person. Just some fictional corporation. It may be making a statement about how society works but that's how it's been since long before the current President was in office. On a side note, this is actually the first time I've heard about them remaking the series. So far is it better or worse than the original? Hard to say just yet. I do feel that more characters had more depth in the first episode but that might also be bias because I had multiple seasons to get to know them. Memory can be tricky on that front. I'd say it's a wait and see sort of thing but if current events are going to remain part of the story I won't be watching. Anyway, this was probably all a pointless waste of typing since I expect it will be deleted by mods for being too political.

Finished watching The Punisher season 2. Not as good as season 1 but still entertaining. It got a little slow around ep10 (the major plot points could have taken 5 mins rolled into ep 9 easy and nothing of real interest would have been lost) but it picked up towards the end and I liked where all the characters ended up. Needed more Karen though, if the show avoids the cancel hammer (I have little hope) then I'd like to see her featured more next season.

Watching Westworld. Starting from the first episode as I type. I've heard good things about it. I thought Westworld season 1 was excellent, season 2 went a bit odd. Even if every other season turns out a bit crap I will still think season 1 is worth the effort to watch again, as it works well as a stand alone self contained story.

Spending a little time watching this on Netflix. I go into occasional binges of Supernatural. I forget if I'm in S2 or S3 but each of its seasons is twice as long as a show's average season.

I am finally, with the help of a vpn (stupid new zealand), caught up with Supernatural. It seems to go on forever, 14 seasons and counting. At this point I think they have some extremely damning blackmail held over the CW's head.

So The Umbrella Academy was a lot of fun. Never read the comics its based on and I hear there were a few baffling changes for the tv show, but for me it was a great entry into the world. The acting and casting was excellent, the story engaging and the soundtrack fantastic.

The acting and casting was excellent, the story engaging and the soundtrack fantastic. Blitzed through the entire series last night, it's definitely something I'd recommend. There were a few loose plot-threads left hanging in S1 regarding certain characters, but I like that not everything was addressed or wrapped up. Makes me want them to get a second series, because I really liked the characters and the world they set up.
If anyone hasn't seen Misfits, Robert Sheehan (Klaus) played a very similar character in that show during the first two series. Although there his character didn't have being a drug-addict as an excuse for his behaviour... Nathan was just a loveable jerkass.

Recently I watched all 7 seasons of GoT. Currently about in the middle of S2 of Westworld. In both cases, they have this long commentary at the end of each episode. My opinion here is that you have to spend all that time explaining what's just been watched then you're doing a poor job of telling the story.

I just binge watched Stranger Things and the characters are perfect, story pretty good. It has been a long time since I saw such a good show.
The actress who play Eleven is very androgynous. Even knowing she’s a girl, I can’t help but see a boy.

Just randomly, I decided to watch The Simpsons on Hulu. First available is Season 30. The first episode is outright terrible. Hard to believe this show is still in existence.

They don't make a cartoon series or rather an anime series like this any more. This one appeared in 1997, pretty dark and grim, only for mature audience. Btw, Spawn is voiced by Keith David. He did a great job.

Leaving fantasy behind and entering the world of reality; BBC Ambulance Series. It brings back bad memories but they don't bite so hard any more. It's an eyeopener to see how difficult it is for the ECC to make the right judgement call and despatch available, whatever there is, ambulances and specialists to critical cases in big cities. How hard it is for paramedics struggling to save a life and losing the fight. Their empathy and sympathy for family members.

Anyone else watching HBO's Chernobyl?
I did not know there was a potential megaton size continent contaminating explosion imminent because the silicon they dumped on the reactor to contain the fallout had turned to lava, was eating through a concrete barrier into a large water tank which everyone thought was empty, but was in fact full, and would superheat and vaporize into previously said massive explosion.
Wow.
Tune in next Monday to find out if they stopped the explosion!
(I assume they did cuz Ukraine is still there)

Wow. Tune in next Monday to find out if they stopped the explosion! (I assume they did cuz Ukraine is still there) How is the series treating the events leading up to the disaster? Is there an obvious slant to the show; retreading the same old "nuclear energy is evil" mantra, or does it actually explore how the power station's managers specifically ignored and then bypassed numerous safety protocols in order to meet a deadline? Seeing as how this is HBO, something tells me that this is going to be biased, I could be wrong but I doubt it. Most like to point to Chernobyl as a reason why we shouldn't use nuclear power, but I look at it as gross human incompetence, and incredible stupidity, that lead to the deaths of thousands and the displacement of thousands more.
