Specifically if your character befriended Shale in DAO.

Do not use Shale for it... but if you use Shale as the material of this armour, she will not your friend anymore, I suppose. And don't hunt friendly golems for it.

Do you alway hesitate to use equipment from dead enemies when they happen to be of the same race as some of your companions?

Come on, Barkspawn, clean this mess! Let's go, the dinner awaits us!

I know, I'm not a fan of dead animal skin. I have too many pets to be happy about it. I even have a pet emu (he's 22 years old now) and see things that are made of emu oil and it makes me sad.

Those are made from animals. Not people. And well, my point is that it is weird to befriend Shale and then make equipment out of a golem's body.

I don't view it wrong to reuse equipment of a dead person but I feel it's wrong to use equipment made from humans (and golems were human). I actually avoid leather products in real life too but don't take things that far in a game.

I know that the way golem-making works in this setting means they count as people by any reasonable standard. But I'm not sure that's enough to make this a problem. Think of it as organ donation. You don't object to that, do you?Well, you can't avoid it, really. Leather armor is pretty much the only thing a rogue can wear, until you get to the Emprise and find that vein of silverite. Would you avoid it if you could, though? Do you alway hesitate to use equipment from dead enemies when they happen to be of the same race as some of your companions? A better comparison would be ripping off their skin and making a hat out of it. An even better comparison would be ripping off their skin and making armor out of it. The armor might save your life. The hat just looks cool. (If even that, since a hat made out of human skin would just look weird and creepy.)

Or do the people who decide to summit to that route, have such horrible lives that that being made into a golem seems better than what they have? I didn't play that golem DVD that I got with the DA Origins and I don't remember all the specifics of how dwarves choose to be golems. Even if Shale volunteered, I wouldn't want to wear her golem shell as armor once she was dead. I don't like all the Fennecs I accidently kill either (or my teammates kill as they rush after one while I'm in the middle of fighting a bear that attacked me). One thing I don't do in games is use the mounts to travel because I don't like them getting attacked...I have four horses in real life and I won't let anything bad happen to them..it's just a quirk with me I guess...I don't want my game mounts attacked.

I lawl'ed, because I thought the same thing but figured I'd be the only one to catch it since I'm vegan. I assume she meant "people". The golems used to be dwarves.

Okay, now seriously. The golems are dwarves. Their golem form isn't their natural form, only a "shell". Put that golem-shell armour. The dead dwarf doesn't use anymore. S/He was the slave of this shell for centuries...

Even if Shale volunteered, I wouldn't want to wear her golem shell as armor once she was dead. Well, they don't always choose at all. Caridin explains that while he started out only using volunteers, the king at the time demanded more golems than that provided the souls for, and handed Caridin a number of non-volunteers. Casteless, criminals, people who spoke out against said king... I imagine you remember how this story ends? At any rate, I think Shale volunteered. Like, really, truly volunteered for no other reason than to make a difference. But that process wasn't what I was comparing to organ donation, since organ donors aren't kept alive and enslaved. No, I was trying to compare taking the Inferno Golem's shell to organ donation. The number and variety of pets you have emuses me.

All rescue animals, and we've had two of the horses and the emu for over 20 years. Between our love of running, hiking, animals, spending time outdoors, my husband and I stay very active and busy, in a good way. (I like the way you misspelled amuses). On the use of the golem shells. I will concede, that once an animal or human is dead, the parts might as well be used for the good of others.

It is too easy to forget that the golems we fight in the game are slaves. Not random stone monsters.
