The only character we've seen much of (besides Praxley who may be important or who may just be for one quest) is Haluk. Made me think of the Mechanic and Blackfinger from the original Mad Max movies.

He looks interesting, hope to see more of his personality. I got hope that Bioware can pull it off, cause they have created amazing non companion characters before, for example, Captain Anderson, Illusive Man, Cullen and Josephine, the more recent. Hope to see more of that.

Wasn't Normandy SR1 XO Praxley? Pressley. I just finished ME2 again so I remember that clearly. As for Haluk himself, one thing the trailer implies is that he is a former freelancer who was critically injured while on a mission and this forced him to retire. We're shown a colossus getting blasted backwards and collapsing from a lightning hit, and its helmet is the same as the one on the bar that he's staring at. There is also a cane leaning against the bar in the same shot. If I had to guess, he's probably going to be the retired mentor for our Freelancer (who I hope to the Shapers we can name ourselves).

Too bad they can’t pull a FO4 and do the name selection thing, but I’m gathering that “Freelancer” will be what everyone calls us.

My bet is that the encounter shown in trailer ended up in him rethinking it.
That's when he put shitton of extra armor on his Javelin and will be a tank character.

His personality is very aggravating, between how he talks as well as things like him being excited that a caravan of people was wiped out because that will make this job more fun. Why do I have a psychopath as part of my crew? Oh right, because we are forced to have a relationship with him.

Don't forget what we're seeing is a Stronghold which is late/end game content so by this point we would have had Haluk's backstory and know why he acts the way he does. We have no context as to why at this point. And if it's like past Bioware games we'll have some say in how Haluk develops. It's very unfair to judge him by what we seen in end game content. You're overreacting.

You're overreacting. Agree. Both Colossus and the Ranger were level 30, that implies this mission takes place a long time after the start. Also you call him a psycopath just because of a comment, then what would you call the Freelancer that goes around killing dozens of other humans?
Because the enemies aren't robots and from this video i got the impression they are another human faction, the difference being that their armors/javelins seems more primitive than the tech used by the people of Fort Tarsis: Enforcer and Hunters seems to be javelins while scrappers looks like humans using improvised armor made of metal scrap.

I thought they'd confirmed that the Scar weren't humans? (though I don't disagree with your overall point. just to be clear). Though they are likely sentient.

Still there's a long time till launch and the context is yet to be explained, he might still win you over.
