Thanks Smiles. Join one of those long tables while we wait for more recruits. I hear the cook roasted a boar nicely. That way at least you'll get food if not game. 1. Hanako Ikezawa 2. luketrevelyan 3. dragontartare 4. Serza 5. gervaise21 6. nvanfleet 7. smilesja 8. 9. 10.

If it is ok, that I can only join in the evening, middle european time, I would try it. I'm a huge Sherlock Holmes Fan and would love to give it a shot, but due to momentarily stressful times at work, I can't promise to be online every day, so if that's mandatory, I would wait until round 2 starts. (btw: gervaise21 : the SH tv show with Jeremy Brett rules )

fylimar All these Sherlock fans make me squee because these are the best detective series! Not that Agatha Christie fans won't raise pitchforks against such statement, to which I say, I quite enjoy her works too! You're most welcome to join. Your schedule is fine as long as you can log in once every couple of days and click on this thread to check/respond to the game progress. The forum day/night games tend to be long lasting because ten players need to be taken into account along with their time zones and work. Each day/night cycle in game usually lasts at few days in rl. There is no pressure for the players to respond five seconds after they receive night pm or as soon as day time is declared. 1. Hanako Ikezawa 2. luketrevelyan 3. dragontartare 4. Serza 5. gervaise21 6. nvanfleet 7. smilesja 8. fylimar 9. 10.

Thank you, adonniel, that's great to know. Yes, I was always a Sherlock Holmes fan, read all books by ACD and the pastiches and watched all movies/tv shows. He is the best, but I love a lot of other detective stories too

Eeep, we still got two spots open. Is it time to start offering bribes? I'm good (not really) at drawing stick figures and none too shabby at photobucket. I could cook up some icons or a calendar.

smilesja YES! We must have VICTORY in recruitment! cmoe If you don't want to join yourself, this crew accepts alternate sacrificial bodies, just send them our way. But, wouldn't it be more fun to try and have the bribe for yourself? This game hardly requires any writing. It's more like you have a role and you're trying to use a skill your role has to catch the villains or if you're villain to dupe the heroes. It will make lots of sense once we start. I can see three people hesitating in this thread alone. Just two more and we'll go! TAKE MY HAND!

I'm sorry. Am I being too persistent? I'll back off. I've sent invitations to some people and they said no. I can't get pushier than that. After all, got to respect everyone's right to decline. The sign-up will be open until Nov 18th. That would be an exact month since this game was proposed. If we cannot get ten players, than we can't do anything about it. People can't be forced to play if they don't want to play. I may have to request lock on this game then. Thank you.

This is much appreciated. The guidance will be as excellent as the Warden training... wait that doesn't sound very promising. Why not just do it with 9 people? I'm pretty sure I've played werewolf/mafia with fewer than 10 people. That's a fair observation. I would say it's possible to play a very short game even with 8 - that's probably min number. However, in my experience since the Mafia usually gets the first hit, this leaves little room for error and also doesn't really provide much of a mystery because with nine you immediately get 7 unknowns and 2 are evil. Short games means you caught bad guys with random luck. If you want to get into the game and use logic to catch them than you need to play greater number of rounds for the clues and suspicions to appear. Because day 1 voting = random vote 90% of the time. People usually start putting clues together only around day 3 voting, which you may not even have with a smaller team. In any case, I would strongly prefer to have a more balanced ratio of 10 since organizing such a game is a lot of work and I rather it not be over just in a couple of rounds. These games tend to run with 15 players to 3 villains ratio. Ten is a much smaller team as it is. I would have preferred 12-15.

Assuming we can't get enough people...if the trade-off is "short" game (not really, since it may take a few days to play each round) vs. no game at all, you are choosing no game? I don't think that makes sense. If it comes down to that, I think we should play with fewer people and just have fewer villains. It's still fun to play even if it only lasts a few rounds.

I don't think that makes sense. If it comes down to that, I think we should play with fewer people and just have fewer villains. It's still fun to play even if it only lasts a few rounds. Of course I much rather not close the game. I think the priority is to keep it. It hadn't been my intention to spread panic. I had to state this possibility because if you're taking too long to gather players their circumstances change and there are often drop outs. So, if you have 8 by the time you roll the roles, someone may suddenly back out and say they're busy now or sometimes people are simply immature and they drop the game because they don't like their role. Then suddenly if you had minimum numbers, you can't launch the game after announcing its start. Sadly, it comes from experience. So, I am concerned that we might not have enough players even with more signed up. But, NUUUU! Of course I won't just close it after doing all that shameless begging to get people to join - I just have to face the fact that I might have to against wanting to because I cannot control other players will to be a part of it. I just have reasons to worry the game won't start as it depends on players availability and if we get drops outs given how reluctant everyone is to sign up, we simply won't have anyone to replace that person. Having one villain doesn't work. There has to be at least two villains because that's the trade off, they have smaller number of players but both know each other and during the day they need help with countering stray votes against them, which one person cannot manage, while heroes are in the blind. Even if the game rolled with 8 players, there would still be 2 villains because it will not be fair for the killing role to be alone.
