Here's hoping France will at least serve Croatia some karma. Drat, part of me wants Croatia to suffer a humiliating defeat as payback... but then that'd mean the French would win!
Damn this game and all these conflicting emotions!

This World Cup is one giant unexpected result. Since everyone expected Brazil to conquer this championship for some unknown reasons you're absolutely right! They got a severe beating in the last World Cup (first slaughtered by Germany, and then some more overkill by us lowly Dutch in the pity finals or whatever it's called in English), so I'm really confused about this expectancy... But to call upon the unexpected: I expect France to win! Everyone had expectations of Brazil because they actually improved after the absolute wreckage they suffered against Germany last WC. Plus it's Brazil, just like countries like Argentina, Uruguay, Mexico, everyone expect us to perform well because football is kind of our thing (unlike say, America with baseball or basketball), of course you can have bad or horrible seasons too like we did, and pretty much the entire continent did... Here's hoping France will at least serve Croatia some karma. Drat, part of me wants Croatia to suffer a humiliating defeat as payback... but then that'd mean the French would win!
Damn this game and all these conflicting emotions! Why though? They didn't do anything wrong like bitching about (Mbappe intensifies...) or anything. Croatia trashed us 3-0, and I don't wish them any ill. I said they didn't really played super good this World Cup, and I think the statement is still true. But hey, they went right trough the end, never lost hope and kept trying, they have balls. I absolutely respect that. _______ First time was England's moment to shine, they did, but after the first Croatian goal, everything went downhill for them. Ultimately it's commendable for Croatia reaching the finals with 3 extended times in a row, I think there's no precedence for that. I'm gonna repeat myself, this was a relatively easy WC looking at teams and plays. It did show some absolutely amazing goal keepers though. I know it's a bit unlikely, but I hope Croatia gets this one.

What France did the last 6 minutes of the game on Tuesday was insulting. Our TV commentator called it "playing it smart". I thought it was pathetic, using corner kicks to stall.
They did play nicely before that. And I think they're going to win the final. I bought the world cup game for Nintendo 64 twenty years ago and remember their victory back then and how exciting I found the whole thing. Is it all coming full circle?
This year France is definitely playing lazy whenever they can afford it like in the group phase where their matches were no fun to watch because they decided to win with as little effort as possible. Then suddenly they got their game on when it mattered and we got to see some good stuff. So I'm kind of torn on them possibly winning the world cup. I think they do deserve it. But I just don't like the way they go about securing their victories.
I missed England/Croatia. Didn't feel like watching it. So I didn't get to see England play at all. But meh. This year I'm mostly amused by the results rather than enjoying the games.

I support Croatia in the final. They earned it. u mean with 3 overtime and 2 penalty shoot out ? lol as far as i understood this world cup, croatia half of the table was sub par and croatia itself lost it after the first round where modric and rakitic gave everything they had left in the tank
anyway, as expected, England lacks a lot upfront and in the middle. Just absolutely no foot IQ except Kane.
no surprise here even if it still was a close call

Should we talk about France? In the group stages they won 2-1 with Australia thanks to an own goal and then there was the outrageous 0-0 against Denmark with both teams that were fine with it. In quarter final they beat Uruguay without Cavani and then Muslera gave away the match whit its mistake. Then they meet Belgium in semi-fiinal rather than Brasil who should have won the quarterfinal at least 5-2. I don't remember a world cup where the winner team never got a bit of luck sometimes, and I am watching WC since 1982. Even Germany who dominated the world cup 4 years ago needed the overtime in order to win against Algeria. In 2010 Spain won every knockout match barely 1 to 0. In 2006 we (Italy) won the final at penalty kicks and we won at overtime against Germany in semifinals after finding only ridicolous teams in previous matches. I could go on forever. The fact is that in order to win the world cup it's a matter of 50% luck and 50% skills.

What can I say - I like fighters. Don't expect it gonna be easy just because they went through long matches. Croatia is hungry.

anyway, as expected, England lacks a lot upfront and in the middle. Just absolutely no foot IQ except Kane. tbh Kane was the weakest in the team. 5 goals against great and formidable teams of Panama and Tunisia, one of them is just his lucky heel after that Loftus shot, 3 penalties and nearly zero contribution in the KO stage. Trippier was probably the best in the England team and definitely the best right back of the tournament.

They can look bad for most of a game. I will say his failure to make it 2-0 in the game early on may have been the difference. I will agree about this Trippier dude, he was eye openingly good.

Not sure Trippier would be that good in 442. I was more a right midfield than right back. Anyway great player offensively. As for Kane, he was the only one to make the right choices most of the time upfront. And he didnt waste more than one or two clear chances.

I m still hurting about germany beating france in 2014 quarter on an obvious foul by hummels on a corner while we were the better team on that game. And yeah, the list of lucky winners goes on forever, except it s mostly always the same 3 teams ... a new winner is pretty rare and always among usual semi finalists. Croatia could change that, i sure hope not

Imho you are the favorite because I have the impression that your players are in better athletic conditions than the Croatians. In semifinals Mbappè, Griezmann and Pogba seemed to be in very good conditions and they ran for 90 minutes. On the other side Modric was totally out of stamina during the match with England. And even if Mandzukic scored the winning goal he was totally out of the match. Moreover you have better bench players and this can also make a difference.
Having said that we know very well that football is strange and in a single knockout match anything can happen, especially when we talk about a final were you have also to consider the psychological component.

Nothing out of the ordinary here, Belgium winning again. Sad nobody gives a damn about anything but the first place in the World Cup. But anyways, they played well. Hazard definitely a Hazard amiright guys? . I was thinking a lot about how the Belgium manager kinda looks like the guy from Hitman? (whatever the name is, never played any Hitman game). Yeah, this WC was rather boring for the most part, only very few games were really cool to watch. Easy, and boring WC for the most part. Qatar with the whole "put every single country under the sun" policy is gonna be a shit fest for sure. Fucking FIFA, they're the EA of the irl sports.

The referee leading Croatia - France hails from Argentina.
I am aware referees are supposed to be impartial but they could have appointed someone whose country didn't lose to one of the finalists. ( far fetched yes, but still )
Anyhow my heart and soul hope for a Croatian win, but my brain thinks otherwise.

Belgium 3rd place, I'm okay with that, played a bit better than England, so they deserve it. And it's the highest achievement for Belgium on the world cups, so good for them, especially since they're often absent from the cups...
France is probably going to win tomorrow, since they've got a technically better team. But strange things can happen, like Greece beating Italy a long time ago at the Europa Cup, or stuff like the infamous Zhidane-headbutt...
On the other side it would be boring for France to win this gig. Croatia never did, so I'm kind of rooting for the underdog here...

Agreed.. too much tacticts, and nowadays even the weaker teams know how to defend. I miss games like this one from the old days Funny thing, Hungary lost the other two matches in the round group by 0-1 so they were eliminated together with El Salvador despite a goal difference of 10 goals scored and only 3 conceded. LOL!!!

( far fetched yes, but still ) Anyhow my heart and soul hope for a Croatian win, but my brain thinks otherwise. <iframe width="23.960000000000036" height="4" style="position: absolute; width: 23.960000000000036px; height: 4px; z-index: -9999; border-style: none;left: 15px; top: -5px;" id="MoatPxIOPT0_99145284" scrolling="no"></iframe> <iframe width="23.960000000000036" height="4" style="position: absolute; width: 23.96px; height: 4px; z-index: -9999; border-style: none; left: 1138px; top: -5px;" id="MoatPxIOPT0_86162976" scrolling="no"></iframe> <iframe width="23.960000000000036" height="4" style="position: absolute; width: 23.96px; height: 4px; z-index: -9999; border-style: none; left: 15px; top: 140px;" id="MoatPxIOPT0_85428535" scrolling="no"></iframe> <iframe width="23.960000000000036" height="4" style="position: absolute; width: 23.96px; height: 4px; z-index: -9999; border-style: none; left: 1138px; top: 140px;" id="MoatPxIOPT0_55694704" scrolling="no"></iframe> err... Argentina lost to both finalists actually. How could I have forgotten that ? I did miss a couple of matches. Losing with 4 - 3 in the quarterfinals is more bitter than a 0 - 3 loss during the group matches. Pitana might be having it out for both teams, rain of cards incoming
