Not sure if I can say, so I probably will play it safe and leave it unsaid. But this was a companion-level character who's been left unused and unmentioned since. We had them do a bad thing, then see the error of their ways and then die. And Bioware's concern wasn't with the death, but with the larger implications of the 'doing bad' part. Plus, the overall story took the franchise a little backwards instead of forwards, so they wanted us to go another direction with it. Very interessing. I don´t think that Bioware would allowed you to kill the major companions from DAO, DA 2 or DAI. So its etiher one from Awakening or one from the DAO DLCs.
So Sigrun, Velanna, Orson Haver (Well this would be a Surprise), Silas Corthwaite, Brogan Dace, Jerrik Dace, Ariane, Finn, Gorim, Jowan, Lily or Soris. My money is on Silas Corthwaite. But i could be wrong.
But all Joking aside did the Comic had their own Canon like previous ones (Alistair Isabela Varric Story) or did Bioware told you can´t do this in this story, because it wouldn´t be compatible with every player world state.
For example the inclusion of characters who could be killed. Let say Fenris.
The comics use the default canon for Bioware. So as a couple of examples: Alistair is King and Fenris is alive. We use that continuity, and then the comics are considered canon inasmuch as it fits your save file. So if the comic feature King Alistair but your universe has Queen Anora, you'd assume the events would be similar but altered based on that fact. If a character who is dead in your save appears in a comic, you should assume the events of the comic would transpire in a similar way, but without that character in it. If that makes sense.

Of course it does. Thank you for the explanation. Please correct me if i am wrong but you don´t use so much in the Comics? Dorian and Varric have the same fates and backgrounds in all of the player world states. Dorian is a Magister and Varric is the current Vicomte of Kirkwall.
Is there a possibility that you can use this more in the future? For example Bethany Hawke. Even the former Bioware Author David Gaider had played with this idea.

I think, in general, working with pieces of lore that are accurate for everyone makes the story more accessible for all fans. That having been said, as a writer, you're drawn to the characters who interest you and sometimes with a franchise like Dragon Age, those are ones whose fate is variable. Bethany is a big favorite of mine, and I'd love to write her. I think I'd be hesitant because (unlike Fenris whose story is generally the same, only with very different endings) the variations are so radically different from one another (died in the Blight, died in the Deep Roads, became a Grey Warden, joined the Circle). It'd be trickier to feel like I wrote her "right," you know? Still, with the right story, I'd be onboard.

nunziodefilippis I'm curious about the design choice for Vaea's eyes. It is a minor change for the elves' anatomy, but a surprising one regardless. And what about Uncle Coran's vallaslin? Is that a new design? It reminds me of Tamlen's, but it's slightly different.

So far as I know, anyway. As for Coran's vallaslin, I think they are meant to be in the same pattern as Tamlen. However, I admit that Christina and I were focused on him not having them in his first scene and having gained them by his second, so we didn't specify the pattern for the artist and in retrospect I wish I had. There's another character that we've been talking about (for something I cannot discuss) whose vallaslin we got very specific about, because every detail matters in such a lore-driven world.

If this means you guys are writing another comic (which I realise you can neither confirm or deny) allow me to be the first to say I'll be delighted to read it.
I know there's been a lot of discussion over the years in the fandom about what each of the vallaslin patterns even mean, since there are different ones between DAO and DAI and I don't think we ever got a complete set of labels saying which one belonged to which god.

Solas’ orb doesn’t really make sense in the context of their conversation. Why would Francesa’s father be pissed at her for losing THAT orb? She wasn’t even in the Venatori. The focusing gem is itself vaguely orb-shaped. I’m pretty sure Florian is referring to that gem, but for whatever reason decided to call it a orb. I told you the gem wasn’t that big of a deal. But noooo, nobody listens to thats1evildude.

I’ll make one guess: Francesca is going to have to work with Vaea and the others to escape the Qintara estate. Because whatever is going on in there is BAAAAAAD.

So I bought the comics finally and I open the first issue with my Kindle app and get this imgur.com/wyVGjPgAnd honestly thought for a few solid seconds that something had gone SERIOUSLY wrong in dragon age. " Oh gee, Vaea looks different. Wait, why is there an Octopus behind glass. Wait...*reads the words and it Dawn's on her* This is not the comic book!

First panel: blonde's bitchiness has been firmly established.
Panel 5:
Gasp. Why would HE look guilty o.o
...That's Calix? *Excitement wanes* nevermind then.
...Oh, I wasn't sure that was Dorian, all that artistic licence...
Awww, Warden grand puppy dog cameo is adorbs...oh it was a lie. Meh.
Okay. So lots of idiots and Calix is the King of Morons. -sigh- on to comic 2

Comic 3: Panel 1: Ouch, Aaron. Ouch.
Panel 3: barf. I regret ever thinking Calix was cute.
Dorian would abanon them?! @_@
That evil elf is NOT talking about Solas...bum bum bummmm.
House Danarius?? Fenris?!!!
Ugh. I don't care about Olivia but the dog. Dog love always gets me *refuses to cry*
Well. I'm less enthused about Aaron. Calix is a man child so my romantic interest is now zilch.
The only thing I gleaned from this regarding DA4 is a possible Fenris Cameo and Meredith's sword has gone MIA (and here I thought it'd shattered)

Comic 3: The only thing I gleaned from this regarding DA4 is a possible Fenris Cameo and Meredith's sword has gone MIA (and here I thought it'd shattered) it is heavily hinted that samson's sword is the same sword meredith used: dragonage.wikia.com/wiki/Certainty"A sword of deepest corruption and conviction, it cannot be the red lyrium blade that drove Kirkwall's Knight-Commander Meredith to madness. It cannot have been reborn in arcane energies somehow elven and Tevinter and Blight intertwined. And it cannot have inspired in the name of a magister who once entered heaven and would dare so again. One wonders what this sword cannot be next, in the hands of the Inquisitor, if he/she is not careful."

okay so short review: so, olivia is a mage? cause i don't know many actors who can produce electricity...
hmm, possible fenris cameo, specifically if you gave him back to danerius.
possible dread wolf agent, dead. i would think solas would be smarter than to just have someone that chatty as an agent...
all in all, great story. olivia sure is interesting character. calix is incredibly stupid it's hurst, but he is a complex character and the ending was great. so all in all my value of him is not low.
and i love what they set for the next game, with the capital of tevinter being captured by the qunari. and best of all, more vaea! i mean even if she won't be a companion, as long as she'd have an appearance in the next game, even a short one, i'd be happy.

Meredith's sword has been re-forged and used in Inquisition by Samson. If we ally with mages it will end up being confiscated by Inquisition. So I'm not sure it's Certainty. At best it may be some shard of original Certainty.

Ventus/Qarinus isn't the capital of Tevinter Minrathous is - and so far it remains an unconquerable city. I wouldn't be surprised if we ended up holed in there/use it as the main base of operations and either gearing for Qunari invasion or pushing it away until either they or the city gives in.

Although I predicted certain elements of how this would end, I have to admit being surprised by what was really going on in the Qintara estate. “Deception” certainly lived up to its name. Even the main character was a bait and switch. Deception wasn’t about introducing us to Olivia, but Calix. so, olivia is a mage? cause i don't know many actors who can produce electricity... No, but actors do use props, and I suspect her fake staff was rigged to give the appearance of being magical in case the “magister” needed to demonstrate her power.

Okay, I’ve read issue three A bit rushed, but to be expected with only three issues.
I’m half convinced that Olivia is still alive given how hard this series has pushed the idea of deception.
I’m interested by what’s being set up here. It’s interesting that Meredith’s sword, or rather the idol it was made from, is of particular interest rather than just red lyrium. It also wasn’t clear who the faux magister was working for, though given that they were elves I wonder if he was gathering information for Solas. It clearly wasn’t the Qunari.
I feel like Calix and Francesca are being set up as something. I’m anticipating more stories in this line and I can’t wait 😊

And can someone break down the Slim chat with Aaron? Cuz Slim is totally okay robbing nobles.
