- Destiny
- Destiny 2
- Mass Effect 3 multiplayer
- Mass Effect Andromeda multiplayer
- Warframe
We're not looking for elite techniques here, but the basic techniques that keep you alive and useful. What tips do you recommend as seasoned players? And for newer players, what basic questions would you like to see answered to make the co-op experience more fun?

In MEMP I thought the first rule was 'don't run to extraction',yet I see people doing this even now.

Have decent gear and level for the task at hand. If you try with peashooter it simply won't help much.

Third-person shooters often have an unintentional mechanic commonly referred to as the "right hand advantage", where you can shoot around corners without exposing yourself if your character is positioned close enough to the edge.
(skip to 6:49 if the embedded timecode doesn't work, or just look at the thumbnail and use your imagination)
The reason this is possible in some games is because the bullets don't actually come out of the barrel of your gun - they originate at the center of your screen, meaning that if the center of your crosshair has a clean shot on the bad men, it doesn't matter how much shit is between them and your character's model. Some developers do take steps to counteract this technique, to varying degrees of success, so it's not something you'll be able to do in literally every third-person shooter ever made, but if you're crafty you can still find ways to achieve similar effects.

Stick with the team. Unless you're very good at taking on a horde of enemies meant for four players all by your own - in which case you don't need to read this thread, obviously - stay near your team mates. Try to avoid getting tunnel vision. Be aware of your surroundings. Yes, there's this annoying enemy unit that buffs all the other fuckers and you almost, almost got it, just a few more shots... but keep checking what's going on around you. When the team is moving or a team mate needs help, you need to know and act on it. When a team mate needs a revive, check whether whatever downed him/her is still around and if so, kill or disable it first. If you're totally new, there is nothing ever wrong with just following another player around, observe what they're doing while trying to cover his/her back. And if you play Warframe or think about trying it out, we hang out in our own thread here. If you have questions or need help with a mission, we're just a chat request away.

To piggy-back off of this post, I recommend almost never going into "hard cover" unless you have to or you're holding down a hack location. Hard cover meaning that your character is actually pressed against the cover because you hit a button to put him/her there. Try to use "soft cover" as much as possible. Meaning, don't suck up back against the wall. Just stand behind the wall, a little apart from it, like you are simply peeking around from the side. That very much goes hand-in-hand with right-hand advantage. Keeping to soft cover keeps you more mobile and less pinned down.

Bioware has confirmed that "hard cover" does not exist in Anthem, though.

Teammates make the best soft cover... ...unless there are enemies with AoE damage.

When an objective spawns, try not to be the only one completing it unless your team coordinates it such as MEA platinum with an Avenger completing hacks or uploads while the non infiltrators draw aggro.
Don't fall into dependence on 1 character or weapon. That Geth Juggernaut might be able to tank, but its slow, has relatively low DPS, and can be easily surrounded. Similarly, a Reegar or Harrier carry little ammo and have limited range and accuracy.
Don't camp. Get to know the map layout and know where escape points are and where you can be flanked. Get a sense of when its a good time to get moving. It also helps to control enemy spawns.

In Anthem 'hard cover' may be even less of a thing. At least in early access, I've noticed attacks seem to ignore all cover. Some missiles will detonate early but non-projectile attacks simply hit without regard for what's between you and the baddie if you don't use a dodge.

"Dance" a little bit. Slay an enemy, move 2 or 32 steps to the right, slay the other, 2 or 3 steps to the left and so on. Unless you're playing a tank, mobility usually improves survivability.
On the same note, if at least TRY to not stand in the way of your teammates: it's not just that it's annoying (it is), but when you block your partner from moving it may be that the guy that could have saved your ass will just die alongside you.

Moved this over from the Co-op sub-forum. What are your favorite 'don't suck' tips? Perhaps it would be nice if there were instructions for newcomers. That way no one yells at them, "Stop taking the echoes from the inner chamber doors... " (in Brita's event) Also, how hard is it to observe and not interfere? The timer works against the squad and every second is crucial. This Cataclysm has created more animosity among players than it has brought enjoyment in teamwork. Just a small observation, folks

Solving a puzzle or finding a secret in the Cataclysm should result in a lore entry or conversation back at the fort to discuss the solution, where the puzzle comes from, and what its existence in the Cataclysm could mean.
Importantly, the puzzle solution should be a lore entry, so players know what to do next time.
