I hope you're not sorry you posted now, William Oh please. If he gets discouraged because of a few negative opinions then that's a problem for him. Places shouldn't need to become echo chambers that do little else but reinforce the user's own opinions before they feel the urge to contribute. There's a limit to how much cotton wool you can wrap a guy in, you know And as he himself said, nothing's going to dent his optimism, so ... *shrugs*Haha! Haha! Definitely not sorry for making the post! I find all of this to be incredibly interesting! I've just been off the BSN for a few days, that's all! And don't worry river82! I'm not discouraged! I wouldn't classify any of the posts in here as negatives and I certainly didn't expect everyone to agree with me! The entire point of this post was to see what everyone's legitimate beef was with Anthem! I've definitely learned a lot from your perspectives, but I remain confident in Anthem from (despite) what I have seen thus far here, in advertising for the game, and so on. I wouldn't classify it as blind optimism however, I do have my own concerns with the game, but not enough for me to not support Bioware and this new I.P.

I cringe everytime i see someone talking about the "death of Bioware or how they don't make games as they used to". This same nonsensical argument is being repeated since the times the old BSN was still a less toxic place. Oddly enough that is my only complaint about this whole forum post! I wanted to see what everyone's source of legitimate beef was with Anthem! As I said before, I definitely learned a lot... but I agree with you on the toxicity of the posts and those who prefer the older Bioware game style/model.

I don't remember the specifics of the scene but I recall it being quite offensive, and there was a big uproar. It led to the creation of Krem in DAI as basically a giant apology. As I recall, Serendipity was well meant by BioWare, but being the 'comedy trans' was perhaps not the way to go. Serendipity does have a following but the character is somewhat of a relic of a different time. It might have been better if Seredipity had been presented in another profession, such as one of the merchants in Hightown. Could've pulled a bait and switch by having being an Elf be the reason that some of the nobles disliked her presence, although sometimes the best social commentary works without being said or drawing attention to it at all.
I'd like to believe that Serendipity was well-meant by Bioware, but at the same time, it does seem a little deliberate that the only trans representation in both Origins and DA2 happen to be working as prostitutes in both the Pearl and Blooming Rose.
Especially with how on-the-nose some of the dialogue for the trans prostitutes was in DAO.
"I have a little something for everyone"
"Oh, don't pretend to be surprised now" I mean... seriously, guys?

You're not wrong. Though I would still view the characters' placement as inelegant rather than malicious.

I don't think I'd worry about it that much. Its still early and there isn't alot of info out on Anthem yet. I have 3200 hours into Destiny and 800 into Destiny 2(not proud) but have become very disgruntled with the direction D2 has taken. If Anthem is solid we will come. Hopefully Sofa Jockey won't be regretting his post on wanting more people to sign up for the forums. As long as Bioware sticks to the no pvp, he should be good though. Destiny forums are toxic.
