The ram meat I kind of understand because every time I head to the area marked on the map I inevitably get jumped by mages and Templars ignoring each other in order to attack me instead. So, yeah, I get why the hunter guy didn't feel like he'd be safe there. I also sometimes cheat and kill rams (and nugs ) at Haven instead.

It never occurred to me to do that instead. I always kill the nugs, rams, and druffalos around Haven before I head out to the Hinterlands for the first time. I go hunting a bit and make an armor and weapon upgrade by collecting stuff around Haven first. Maybe next time I'll wait to do that so I can kill two birds, er rams, with one stone.

But rams don't drop meat unless you already have the quest. I may recall incorrectly though. Meta hunting in Haven before the quest should not work.

No, you need the quest active before Haven rams drop meat. It's still easier to go back there sometimes than to fight off the mobs in the Hinterlands. Make sure you have a bow though...trying to catch them to melee them to death is an exercise in frustration. I usually switch to Varric if I'm not an archer myself, but you don't have that option in Haven.

Best: Either the Chateau D'Onterre quest in the Emerald Graves or The God of Secrets quest in the temple of Dirthamen
Worst: All herb collection quests. Some of them don't even make sense, elfroot is literally everywhere.

Some of them don't even make sense, elfroot is literally everywhere. I really enjoyed the Chateau, and the most special thing about it was the discovery. I found it by accident and in my WoW way I thought 'damn I dont have the quests for this'. Then I googled, turns out there are none. It's a story you only find thru exploration and I love that.

Actually I kinda liked the ram meat quest in the hinterlands, and the apostate caches. It just felt good that the one of the first things I'm able to do independently in the game is help some poor starving, cold refugees when the Inquisition is barely coping as it is. Wouldn't call it one of my favourite quests though.
Lets see, I enjoyed rescuing the villagers from those cages scattered around the red lyrium quarry in Emprise Du Lion. And going around the Emerald Graves taking down different groups of Freemen then reading the different letters that drop depending on what order you kill them. Saving the village of Crestwood was particularly satisfying.
As for companion quests I loved Iron Bull's. Everything coming together in that critical moment where Bull is utterly torn between saving his Chargers, or committing to the Qun by sacrificing them for a hundred Qunari sailors and he can't decide so he asks the one person he trusts to choose for him. I always save the Chargers and that was long before Trespasser came out along with its consequences. I also enjoyed Cole's personal quest. I made him more human except for my Lavellan who is romancing Solas in which case I made him a spirit again.
As for side quests I disliked the most, as many have mentioned-the golden Halla comes to mind. And the "upgrade Skyhold" quests since I could never seem to find enough quarries and logging stands to actually do most of those upgrades. I end up having to use a guide to help me near the end of the game. The Dalish camp fetch quests for spindleweed because there was a ton of it in the river nearby, and great bear hides where I only found them in Emerald Graves. Eh there are probably more. I'll record them as I remember.
My most disliked companion quest is Dorian's. Ugh its just so cliche and predictable. I only wish there were an option to send him back home with his father. I also dislike Solas' personal quest because as far as I can tell there is no way to actually save the spirit or even converse with it. There is just so much we could have gotten from that encounter and so much was wasted.
Oh and I know this isn't a quest per se but darn I what I would give for an opportunity to be able to kick Vivienne out of the Inquisition at some point, preferably in disgrace.

I could never seem to find enough quarries and logging stands to actually do most of those upgrades. If you take the perk "Forward Scouts," which becomes available after taking over a keep, then the logging stands and quarries are shown on the map.
