I didn't see a thread concerning this game so I figured I'd make one. Personally I have been playing FROM games since the early 90's from Armored Core to Demon-souls. With the imminent arrival of Sekiro... how is everyone feeling? On my end I'am a little disappointed. Not because the graphics or game-play looks terrible but because it almost seems like FROM is ignoring the fans. Sure artistic license give you the ability to do whatever you want or develop anything you find feasible but I feel like a DarkSoulsesque samurai game is not the thing that people are looking for right now. What are your thoughts ? This is for the fans and the new people that are giving FROM a try.

I think it looks good, especially the verticality that's been added. On the other hand (pun intended), the die-twice thing seems a little gimmicky -- I like the clean campfire mechanic better -- but the rest looks like a nice change-up from Soulsbourne-style games. I'm a lot more interested in this than I was with Nioh.
I confess I'm much, much more interested in Ghost of Tsushima, though.

I'm a lot more interested in this than I was with Nioh. Agreed, the game play looks clean, polished, and innovative just the concept seems.. Bland, normally FROM employs visual storytelling to coerce players to explore the environment, read item descriptions etc to find out what the hell is going on in the game world. Had FROM decided to invest in a Bloodborne 2 (Please GOD make it happen), I'd understand what we are in for and wouldn't be skeptical but with Sekiro all we know is that you lose an arm to a rival samurai that steals your still alive lord. No multiplayer aspect or sense of co-op game play also lessens my opinion of this game. Ill still probably buy it and play it but I don't see this title reaching critical acclaim like the rest of the titles under FROM's belt because its too "simple" with the main highlight of the game being a grappling hook prosthetic.

If it had a character customization so I could play a female Shonlbi I’d be more excited for it.

What are your thoughts ? This is for the fans and the new people that are giving FROM a try. Well, they kinda ignored the Tenchu portion of their fans for over a decade, so I think it's nice that they bring stealth and katanas back with a clear pinch of dark souls DNA.
A big YAY from me.
It will also be the game of 2019 that will give you smug gamer-cred,
and I wont pass up on that.

Looking forward to this! I was nervous for a second when I didn't see PC release but then I realized Microsoft Windows is the PC version.

I'm intrigued and really appreciate From adopting the PC platform. I just hope it plays well with mouse and keyboard.

VaatiVidya held a contest for prosthetic weapon ideas with pretty great entries.
Makes me excited for the actual arsenal and I'm hoping you can find some hidden/secret attachments for your arm.

So the game is basically what I thought it was, another taking in the Dark Souls style. I've been watching it on Twitch yesterday, and as nice as the game looks and it's much more appealing than Dark Souls to me because of the nicer and open environments, this I think it's not a game for me. I don't like Dark Souls, don't like the whole grind your ass to kill one dude for the feeling of "I did it!" than only lasts 1 minute, yet it took you 3 hours to kill. I loose my shit really quickly and don't have patience for these type of games.
However for those who like those games, seems to be good. Apparently has a more telling story, unlike DS that is more on the lines of "no one knows wtf is going on".

The posture bar and the variety of ways it's implemented in the game is just amazing. I hope other developers take note, because it effectively makes any stamina system look archaic.

I've gotten through around 40% of the game and have been enjoying it. This feels much harder than previous games. Minibosses themselves wreck me. The posture system works well and adds more meat to the combat. My only problem thus far is finding all the new areas. I've been cheating with strategy guide videos to fix that.

DS1 or 3 are still my favorite From Soft games but Sekiro is still definitely a yay.
Feels like a lot of From Soft fans judge their games based on boss fights only and Sekiro is the evolution of that mentality though it gradually resulted in some sacrifices in other aspects. swordplay is not Souls-like and its probably one of the best in the industry imo.
