While I can accept warriors in more revealing clothing I think I draw the line at dangerous atmospheres with no oxygen or toxic air or stuff like that, in situations like that it is hard to really sell the dangers of the environment if the protagonist is running around with exposed skin, I can buy a skilled and nimble warrior wearing skimpier attire for the sake of mobility, however not sure how you get around selling the dangers of a toxic atmosphere without a full protective suit. To be honest I am not seeing the problem, I mean Morrigan is a mage and I don't think her attire is supposed to be seen as something that is supposed to offer a whole lot of protection, it to me just looks like the clothing choice she is most comfortable wearing. Eh just the helmets though, the rest is still fully covered. As for Morrigan I get your point but Ferelden is cold and damp. She'll get a chill! Tis cold in my tent...all alone. Me: Then get a thicker blanket -.-

As long as it is not just the girls but the guys too, then why not? As long as there is an alternative choice for those who want it. I always preferred Miranda's black armour to her arse crack outfit.
Oh and I didn't vote becaue the poll is stupid.

Depends on the genre... in fantasy, stylized historical/period, and often scifi/space opera, etc... I'd always prefer style/aesthetics over function and realism. Not just armor but the costuming and art direction in general. It just adds to the overall magical or otherwordliness of those sorts of settings. Maybe something like an urban fantasy or hard scifi that intentionally goes for a more realistic and relatable world would be an exception, and obviously other genres based on realism. So it should fit the setting, genre and art style of the game. Don't see why there can't be plenty of room for both.

Going by the standards of sexy female armor, I'm posting the male equivalent for men. It's not something that would interest me. Now, the post earlier in this thread showing off Ryder's armored butt is fine with me. He's still protected. And as we know, N7 armor (if that's what he's wearing) can survive plummeting through the atmosphere of Alchera straight into the ground without Shepard being turned into a smear on the ground. And that armor is form-fitting.

lmao, I stopped playing TOR years ago. I had no idea they were doing this kind of thing now. Me personally, I spent a lot of time walking around WoW wearing those cloth leggings from Hellfire Peninsula that was literally thigh high stockings and panties and nothing else, so this is par for the course I suppose lol.

I appreciate choices; I want both. Practical armor and unpractical armor. I usually hate it when they gave bad stats.
I like to play Space Barbie on SWTOR. I have space sorcerer wearing only bra and a skirt but I also have a fully armored soldier. Space mages can bend the rules.

Exposed skin is silly, I go with stylish, sleek that accentuates 'dem curves. Zerofrost ( modder from Skyrim) made some gorgeous armors: Also love Evie Frye's outfit:

I’m going to break the rules... I want both. Since I RP heavily, I want the choice so my character’s mentality is reflected. Many would prefer the more practical armour, but I have RP’d some mages and rogues that want to look good and deadly. Hell, some eras and backgrounds have warriors or berserkers that would choose just body paint and be running around baked 😂
Put it all in and let the RP... or the pervs... decide. I had a dalish elf that was alllll perv. Most shocking run of Origins ever.

That vid is always a gale of truth Like what? That clothing that covers little of the body protects little more than your modesty? I don't think anyone is disputing that fact, shall I prepare a video explaining that water is wet and that the sky is blue for the maximum amount of truth bombage? A gale of truth on how game devs tend to throw the minimum armor on female avatars; fashion, sass, never practical. Who doesn't at a cartoon of a chain-bikini clad warrior with arrows stuck all over her?

Unless there is a plot reason for said armor to be the way it is... Then it is always best for armor to scientifically fit the environment. Characters or companions should not be showing skin if walking on the moon or trudging the wastes of Antarctica. Mass Effect 1-3 was horrible on this with certain companions -which shall remain nameless.

Eh just the helmets though, the rest is still fully covered. Yeah talking about the helmets as well, in fact for Mass Effect 2 I only ever took Grunt and Garrus (and later Tali and Legion when they were recruited) on missions that had a toxic environment or areas with no oxygen because those were the only characters to get full helmets, I still had to put up with Grunt's exposed sleeves though.

And? What is wrong with that? Why is this only a problem when it is female characters yet nobody bats an eye when it is a male character I know this is exceptionally low quality bait but I will bite. The reason is - as you are fully aware - that is the exception, whereas for women it tends to be the rule.

My main rule is "dress for the occasion". It should not be broken unless there's an in-world reason for it. I do not accept any breakings of this as "acceptable" breaks from reality.
You don't walk the wilderness in high heels (or robes, while I'm at it), and in any realistic or semi-realistic world where armor exists and is viable, "armor" and "sexy" are irreconcilable opposites - armor covers and can't serve its function without a minimum thickness, hiding the shape of body parts, sexy exposes (shapes at the least). Exposed skin is ridiculous, and exposing the vitals (yes, right there above the sternum) pushes this up to eleven. You can justify walking around with no armor much more easily than you can justify pieces designed "armor" with all the downsides and none of the functionality.
Having said that, I'm fine with sexy clothing where it's appropriate, and there are worlds where armor is rare, or it's too hot to cover the whole body - heavy armor wouldn't do much good in worlds inspired by the ancient Near East. Also, if armor is available and viable it's important to cover the torso, and if you do that, the limbs can stay exposed. Just don't do it the other way round, that's ridiculous again.
Finally, certain worlds are anything but (semi)-realistic - interpreting this as "if not spefically told otherwise with a reason built into the world, the same rules apply as would IRL". I guess sexy armor is OK for them, but then I tend to avoid those genres altogether, though for different reasons.

Depends on the tone of the setting.
A sillier setting can get away with silly revealing armor.
A lot of settings can also get away with form fitting but still functional armor.

I usually prefer practical outfits, because they give me this "no nonsense" vibe. Bikini armor makes me wish to torture the character wearing them for a week before finishing them off by quartering.
