And? What is wrong with that? Why is this only a problem when it is female characters yet nobody bats an eye when it is a male character I know this is exceptionally low quality bait but I will bite. The reason is - as you are fully aware - that is the exception, whereas for women it tends to be the rule. Right, a rich billionaire with magical bulletproof spandex that just HAS to accentuate his pectorals and abdomen. A martial arts master that is exposed to armed soldiers shooting at him on a constant basis, while wearing that. A spartan god killer, who is constantly getting stabbed in his obviously exposed areas yet never does anything to address the problem. Yea...I can do this all day. Do not sit there and dare to play that "it's the exception" crap. That is just the reality. You and others like you just don't care because titties, and that's fine, you don't have to care. But stop acting like it's a one sided problem.

Armor CAN be sexy. But it should be of secondary concern to functionality.

The difference is accentuating sexuality over accentuating power and strength. Two very different things, two very different messages. However, I feel like I'm pissing into the wind here. You do realise people are not saying your shouldn't have sexy clothing, it should be available in equal measure forboth genders, be appropriate and / or have an alternative option. What's the issue with that?

The difference is accentuating sexuality over accentuating power and strength. Two very different things, two very different messages. However, I feel like I'm pissing into the wind here. You do realise people are not saying your shouldn't have sexy clothing, it should be available in equal measure forboth genders, be appropriate and / or have an alternative option. What's the issue with that? There is no difference at all with the images I provided. You don't see the men as being depicted in a sexual nature, because you have a biased mindset. You obviously just assume Male exposure = power for some reason. Why can't a woman's exposure mean the same? An empowered woman wears whatever the hell she wants, because she wants to, same as any man. You have decided that the same exact depictions of both genders mean something entirely different, for meaningless arbitrary reasons, and that is the definition of a sexist attitude, because you are subscribing different meanings to the same thing based on gender and nothing else. The objectification of the male form is on full display, and you have the gall to just pass it off as Power Worship. There is no different message, they are the same. it boggles my mind how so many people who claim to be offended by the so called "objectification" of women in media, always seem to act like women are powerless, incapable of making their own decisions and lifestyle choices. As if the only reason a woman would ever dress in a provocative manner is because she is forced to, or she feels like she "has" to. It can never be because she just wants to dress that way, or that character just prefers that attire. No, it can only be because women are nothing more than powerless oppressed meat puppets for men's amusement. To me that speaks volumes about people who claim to constantly take issues with these things, and to me it showcases a far more sexist mindset than they would like to admit. As for your second point, there is no issue, there should always be options. Player choice is always the goal for me.

Depends entirely on the setting and genre. If there's magic involved, there's no need to be practical as I can easily RP that my mage characters can easily put up magical defense barriers at a moments notice, so they prefer to look sexy or badass should they like.
However, in mass effect... there shouldn't be any skin windows except in bars/clubs etc because you're walking around on toxic planets.

wish I hadn't lost all my old avatar pictures, the most op'd armour set I ever had was a magically imbued armour set in one mmo which consisted of a couple of leather straps with knee high FMB's for hte males and the females had a fairy costume with dance shoes... stuff turned the player into an instant epic tier dungeon boss (well it did cost around 5 billion of in game currency to make each piece of the set and it was useless with out the full set, and you couldn't have more than 2 billion currency in your char and only 1 bill in the bank, so unless you were a guild leader and a race leader with the right level and buffs you couldn't make the stuff and your limit was one crafting attempt every 24 hours wiht a 95% failure rate so in reality it was close to 30 billion per armour piece.. but sooo good to use... especially when you had the special weapon as well that granted the race leader special attack that did over 100k aoe damage to all targets in range so long as you had mana and sp to insta cast it (damn I wish they didnt close that game, oh well at least I made decent money selling well geared high level accounts whilst it lasted)

Sorry, I just had to laff at the equivalence being made between Kratos and Quiet. Guffaw! At least some kind of argument can be made for Kratos's outfit being historical. Quiet's argument is so transparent, I still to this day think that Kojima was being ironic. He sure got a lot of shit for it, though.

I dunno mang, seems to me the only guffaw here is you trying to claim that Kratos's outfit is historically accurate. Kratos's outfit is about as historically accurate as Quiet's outfit is genuine tactical combat gear. But please tell me how these 2 aren't the same? Both are scantily clad yet the only difference I see is that one is male? What is it about Kratos's outfit that makes it acceptable while Quiet's is unacceptable?

1/10 troll bait Regardless, the human body has ALWAYS been sexualized and sexy armor goes back a looong time. Just look up nipples on armor and the like: Muscle cuirassAs for armor being protective: Just how good is ANY armor against swords and crossbows unless it's so heavy you can barely move, making it very UNPRACTICAL?? I forgot where I read it but rarely were soliders heavily armored. And going into a fight almost naked was a thing. It's about intimidation. This whole obsession with practical armor is amusing. All of a sudden sexy has become a problem even though humanity has worshipped the human body since forever. Men like sexy women, women like sexy men, and men and women like looking sexy. Nothing wrong with that. Of course there are differences between what men consider sexy on women and what women consider sexy on women, and straight men are conditioned to not find any other man sexy because no homo.
I personally like armor that flaunts the body and looks stylish on my characters. The amount of skin varies depending on the outfit and is of secondary concern to me. I DO think high heels on Miranda looked stupid because in that line of work in that particular setting it looks out of place. But it's a game. So I don't care?

I forgot where I read it but rarely were soliders heavily armored. And going into a fight almost naked was a thing. It's about intimidation. In the late 15th century medieval infantrymen wore a suit of plate, the so called munitions armor, which was standardized, mass produced 3/4 plate armor of low quality steel or sometimes iron. At that time you would not have lasted a minute without such armor. This is also reflected by the weapons used in that period, in this time swords were mainly used as backup weapon and the polearm was by far the standard issue weapon. It was one of the few weapons that could still do massive damage to people in armor, had enough reach to be used in massed formations and since you were so well protected you did not need a shield and could wield a 2-handed weapon A 15th battle looked like this, no naked people or nipple plates.

Giant Ambush BeetleObviously, I wasn't talking about going in naked in a scenario like this. I was more talking about one on one or small groups which is what you have in most video games, not army formations. And nipple armor was mostly decorative, which is what the linked article states... illustrating that sexualized armor is not a video game invention.
